Tranquil....it is!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

It is the perfect place to be if you do not want the noise and hustle and bustle of the city, although it is only minutes away to shop for all your needs. It's like being in a botanical garden. This was our second year renting and loved it. Both times we've met wonderful neighbours in the adjoining cottage. Great place for our small dog who can be contained at the front entrance. Only a 10 minute drive to the public beach. The owners are only a click away and respond very quickly. Will definitely be back!

Old Florida at its best!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year spending a month at this cottage and we booked for next year. It is close to the village but on a quiet road only a block from Lemon Bay. The improvements to the deck and back yard were great for entertaining. We look forward to next year and seeing the new friends we made.

Great Winter Escape

  • 4 of 5

This is the second year we have stayed here. We were here for three months and would recommend this place. The owners are very responsive to any needs. The enlarged deck was a bonus this year and they have the most lovely yard for your enjoyment.

Charming, well located !

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying here so much last year that we decided to come back again this year. Some of the things we liked the most about this cottage are the outdoor areas around it. There's beautiful foliage, palm trees, and fruit trees surrounding the property. There's a nice area to sit out front, a nice size deck with a BBQ grill out back and even an area in the yard with a fire pit. Inside, the cottage is nice and light, and has everything you need for cooking. It's nice, newer things, too. Knives that are sharp, cookware that's newer and nice Pfaltzgraff dishes. Best of all you can walk to Dearborn Street and all the shops and restaurants there. Kudos to the owners, too for a couple of good reasons. They are very responsive and get back to you promptly. In addition, they are concerned landlords and take pride in their property. We were impressed with the improvements they made to their property from one year to the next. We would definately stay here again and plan to do so as long as it fits in with our plans!

A great little hide-a-way!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cottage in March 2014. It looked exactly as pictured, very clean and well stocked with everything you would need. The patios & yard were welcoming and we used them everyday. Laundry on site and you share with the ajoining cottage. Linda & Ian were very helpful if we needed anything. Close to downtown Old Englewood, we loved the farmers market each Thursday, where we purchased produce, bakery & great shrimp! We loved walking with our 'new neighbors', Kaz & Paulette on several occasions to Zeke's only 2 blocks away on the bay side for happy hour! Loved riding our bikes on the many trails available. Loved the beautiful beaches close by, and of course I did go hunting for sharks teeth too!!

The cottage is small but overall it was clean & comfortable, perfect for 2.

Charming cottage and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We wanted some 'Old Florida' charm in a clean, affordable rental, and this cottage delivered that. It exceeded our expectations with easy walking or cycling distance to Dearborn street and the beach. We had everything we needed with our own BBQ grill, kitchen, washer and dryer, and lovely outdoor patio's in front and back to sit and enjoy the beautiful foliage in the large, private yard. The cottage was clean and offered little touches that we really appreciated, like new cookware and attractive, new dinnerware. The owners were great and responded quickly to any questions we had. We've used VRBO for several years, and this was one of the best rentals we've had!

The two Cottages are located in an attractive, quiet area that is typically 'Old Florida' on the lovely Gulf Coast. The main street in Olde Englewood, Dearborn Street, hosts a number of regular activities which attract people from the surrounding area, such as Saturday Night Live - shops are open late and lots of live music -, Wine Walks and Wine Tasting, Cruizin' Dearborn - classic car show along the street, live music, shops open late - and a Farmer's Market every Thursday morning. In addition, there is the Lemon Bay Playhouse which has a season of plays and musical entertainment.

Depending on the time of year you are visiting, you can have the opportunity to participate in a number of specific seasonal events, such as a Spring Arts Festival, Cinco de Mayo and Pioneer Days, to name a few.

There are several excellent restaurants on Dearborn Street and in the local area offering a variety of cuisine to suit all tastes. Most of the restaurants provide live music covering a range of style ensuring a fun, relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Down in Fort Myers, there are interesting attractions such as Thomas Edison's and Henry Ford's Winter Estates, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva Islands and an refurbished retro downtown area.

Boca Grande, famous for the Bush family vacations, is approx half an hour's drive from Englewood and is the home of the beautiful Gasparilla Inn.

North of Englewood, you have Venice Beach, where you you can often spot dolphins and beautiful Siesta Key, where the beach is listed as one of the top 10 beaches of the world. And then, north a little further, in Sarasota, you will find the Ringling Brothers' Museums.

Closer to home, Englewood Beach and Stump Pass State Park are on Manasota Key which is 10 minutes' drive from the Cottage. Lemon Bay Park and Environmental Center is a stone's throw away. Here you will find a nature trail, butterfly garden, eagle nest viewing areas, canoe/kayak launch, boardwalks, picnic pavilion, picnic shelters, grills, park benches and environmental center.

If golf is your sport of choice, there are private golf courses nearby, such as Boca Royal Golf & Country Club and Jacaranda West Country Club, and a number of public golf courses, such as Myakka Pines Golf Course, Oyster Creek Golf & Country Club and Stoneybrook Golf & Country Club, to name but three.
