Overview

Issaquah Cabin Rental Photos and Description

600 sq ft Chalet Style Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Whispering Waters is a cozy charming Washington state vacation rental cabin on a scenic mountain river surrounded by the beautiful Cascade Mountains. Only 60 miles NE of Seattle, feels worlds away.

The cabin's romantic ambience makes it ideal for celebrating special occasions, with a river view from the loft bed, seasonal gas riverrock fireplace, and hot tub on the banks of Skykomish River. The loft's french doors lead to a balcony that overlooks large moss-covered trees and has a river view. The 600sq ft vacation rental cabin is cozy and perfect for two celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, or a romantic getaway; but can accommodate up to four.

Whispering Waters cabin is in a beautiful mountainous area 90 minutes northeast of Seattle, near Skykomish, WA. The cabin is close to three wilderness areas (Wild Sky, Alpine Lakes and Henry Jackson) and Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest that offer year round outdoor recreational opportunities.

The cabin is on the south fork Skykomish River, a class II whitewater/kyaking river. The main Skykomish, 6 miles away, is a class IV whitewater river, with several local rafting companies providing rafting trips through popular Boulder Drop.

Nearby Stevens Pass ski area (23 miles east) is a day-use ski/snowboarding area. This rental ski cabin is on the west side of the pass, so no need to drive over the pass if coming from the Seattle area. The roads to the cabin are usually snow free in the winter. Stevens Pass has mountain biking, scenic chair lift rides, hiking, coffee shop, and disc golf in the summer.

The area around Whispering Waters is not 'touristy', yet attracts thousands of visitors and vacationers due to the rugged beauty of Washington's Cascade Mountains and the outdoor recreation. There are dozens of great nearby hiking trails with something for everyone - easy family walks through the woods, waterfalls, alpine meadows, historical Wellington train disaster site with old train tunnels, trout-stocked alpine lakes with crystal clear water, historic lookout towers, old growth forests, and rock climbing. There is a user-maintained trail within walking distance of the cabin. The numerous forest service roads are great for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing when the snow level is low (1000ft).

The south fork Skykomish with it's sparkling clear water is a Washington Scenic River with seasonal fishing for trout and white fish. Even though it is a whitewater river, there is a calm area in front of the cabin for cold water swimming on a hot summer day. The rapids just past the cabin are mild enough in late summer for family tubing. There is a small rocky/sandy beach below the cabin and is a good place to enjoy the cool river breeze on the occasional hot day. Western Washington weather is usually mild throughout the summer but there are usually a few hot days.

The cabin is a great place for a relaxing vacation. The rocking chairs on the cabin's front porch provide front row seats to watch the Skykomish River go by, bald eagles soaring by in the winter, and salmon jumping in the fall.

The 50-jet hot tub located just out the front door a few feet from the river bank is terrific for soaking your cares away while the Skykomish River 'whispers' by. The hot tub is covered with a glass roof so it can be used during all weather conditions year-round. On clear nights the cabin's front yard is a great place to star gaze while listening to the river, especially after soaking in the hot tub or sitting next to a camp fire. The cabin is on a semi-private lot - cabins across the river and a cabin downstream with fencing and landscaping to provide privacy.

The cabin is super cozy in winter with the riverrock gas fireplace. Satellite TV provides 250 channels, Netflix and Pandora. There are also board games, puzzles, paperbacks, and Sky Valley area information.

The queen bed in the loft has a river view, and a forest view via the balcony doors. The full bed in the downstairs bedroom provides room for an additional couple or children (note: surroundings may not be suitable for small children due to the abrupt river bank). All bedding and towels provided.

A small kitchen area is set up for simple meal prep, and the dining table seats up to 4 with river view. The kitchen has a gas range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, bean grinder, blender and hand mixer. Starter supply of coffee, tea & hot chocolate provided. Dishes, pots & pans, kitchen towels, flatware & cooking utensils also provided. Charcoal grill on the front porch.

We are able to keep midweek rates low while providing quality amenities as the cabin is owner managed and maintained. Unlike many rental cabins, there is no cleaning charge if the cabin is left clean.

Note to those with allergies: dogs were allowed at this cabin until the end of 2014.

About The Owner

I purchased Whispering Waters cabin as a side career while working as a nurse. I enjoyed it so much that I made cabin rental my full time career in 2000 and still love it. I love the outdoors and try to hike, raft, snow shoe, and cross country ski whenever I can.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1999

Why The Owner chose Issaquah

I love this area as it is so beautiful and peaceful. Listening to and watching the Skykomish River 'whisper' by brings me daily enjoyment and I want to share it with others. After twenty two years of living in the Cascade Mountains I am still in awe of the beauty of the river, mountains and trees.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is maintained by the owner so it is cleaner and has more personal touches than cabins maintained by property management companies, and at lower rates. Comfortable all weather wicker rocking chairs on the front porch; hot tub with glass cover that provides protection from the rain while maintaining the outdoors experience. Authentic cabin atmosphere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is an amazing place well exceeded my expectations. We planned this getaway two months ago choosing from a list of cabins and really lucky that your place is what we found. Will definitely be coming back and reocmmending your cabins to our frineds. I have never been/felt so relaxed until the day we arrived here and know that this is the "Place". So serene when you're outside, looking at the views and listening to the relaxing sound of the river, and when we're in the hot tub after a long day snowboarding. "WOW" I just can't stop saying this is the place for me. MY PERFECT GET-AWAY.

IDEAL CABIN

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the first four days of our honeymoon here in the summer of 2012. Two years later, where ever we're traveling, we're always looking to find a cabin as beautiful as this one (which is hard to find)! The path to the river, the sound of the rushing water, the layout of the cabin, the secluded feel...all just wonderfully idyllic. We spent a few afternoons hiking Bridal Veil Falls, but mostly just relaxed. Favorite parts were eating breakfast on the little deck, brunch in the sun out back and star gazing from the hot tub. A VERY relaxing, VERY helpful owners, and a VERY beautiful place. No complaints--book this cabin and you will not be disappointed!

Owner's Response: Hello Katie, Thank you for your review and I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Whispering Waters. I am always happy to hear that others love the cabin and this beautiful area as much as I. Just to let you know, we are always trying to improve an already good thing to keep it interesting for our repeat customers, so hope to see you back in Washington someday.

Second Stay in paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this cabin so please read my other review about the cabin. As a couple we have rented many cabins all over the western states and BC so we have seen many different types of owners and have to say they are the best. They border more on the innkeeper side as to the amenities they offer and the personal touches that you find in the cabin. They do everything to make sure you have a great time at the cabin, while at the same time they are not intrusive so as to effect the privacy needed for a romantic getaway. They answered all our text messages about where good food was, good trails for hiking and pretty much any question we had. They have done several upgrades to the cabin that improved the already great experience. The high speed wireless internet was a great addition and the new stove was nice and clean.

The cabin in situated in such an incredible setting, every night out on the river, knee deep in the clear snowmelt water, then into the hot jacuzzi to warm once the sun had set. The scenery is straight out of a hollywood movie. Stunning hiking trails for all levels are just a short drive from this cabin. We simply cannot say enough positive things about this cabin or the owners. Don't pass this cabin up!

A great place to relax, unwind and explore nature.

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this cabin to any small family or couple that is looking for a relaxing time away from the rat race. This is also a perfect home base to explore many of the surrounding sights as well - the area is simply incredible! We especially loved the vistas and plucking fresh berries (though be sure to identify what is safe for eating first) along some of the hikes that were outlined in the owners' book about local attractions. The accomodations were clean and well thought out. It was nice to read some of the older reviews that were left in the notebooks at the cabin. It seems like the owners have been doing a great job for a good while now. The only thing we didn't like about this cabin is when we had to leave. Keep up the good work Janet!

So great we did not want to leave!!

  • 5 of 5

We can sum up our stay at this cabin with “We did not want to leave”. We stayed here for 12 days and it quickly became home. The views out the back windows are stunning, verdant mountains, an aquamarine rushing river, lush green foliage, and colorful wild flowers all can be seen while relaxing in the waiting hot tub. The fire pit was used almost nightly as we sipped wine and toasted our toes by the crackling flames. Sitting riverside one can imagine this area looking much like it did two hundred years ago when Lewis and Clark traveled to the pacific northwest. The inside of the cabin was immaculate, comfortable, and cozy. The gas fireplace kept the cabin cozy warm during the unseasonably cool spring weather. The small kitchen did not limit our ability to create great meals for the two of us. The bed in the loft was comfortable and the sounds of the river lulled us to sleep nightly, though the stairs up to the loft are a bit steep (this is not uncommon for cabins of this size). The decor screams mountain cabin at every look. There is a nice sized flat screen tv and satellite which allowed me to watch the Stanley Cup Final in comfort. Lots of nice areas to take a walk and some great trails a few miles away to hike. We met the owner of the property while we were here and she was very helpful and accommodating. This cabin could easily handle a family of four, but it is easily the most romantic place we have been too, so leave the kids home and enjoy! We would give this cabin ten stars if we could, it’s that great!

I want to go back TODAY!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin to spend some quiet time as a celebration of our sixth anniversary. GREAT choice. The cabin was clean and well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The Loft sleeping room was like a little nest in Heaven. I loved it!!! The swimming hole in the river out front was icy cold, but great in the 98 degree weather; cabin stayed cool with the canopy and fans. We had a relaxing time in the hot tub and grilled up some tasty steaks on the barbecue. One day we drove to Leavenworth and it was an beautiful trip across Steven's pass and back later that night. Be sure to check out the Smallwoods Harvest road side attraction just 2.1 miles east of Leavenworth for some great fruits/vegies and specialty items. It also has some fun entertainment for kids (hay rides, chicken coops and pole maze). Coming home to the cabin in the woods at the end of the day was truly like coming home. I highly recommend it AND also recommend that you read all the journal entries whle you visit and add one of your own. Very entertaining. We plan to go back soon.
