About Gabi Fienburgh
The owners, Richard and Gabi first moved to the coast more than 30 years ago, both originally from Europe.
Richard, growing up north of London, left England on the Istanbul Express and ended up in Western Canada. He visited a friend living in Mendocino and fell in love with the coast and the community here and never left. An accomplished musician, he still performs regularly in the “Mendocino Music and Stories” series.
Gabi has a similar story, growing up in Germany, she came to visit a friend in Mendocino and after falling in love with the beauty of the pacific coast and the wonderful people, essentially has been here ever since.
They met here on the coast, a notoriously romantic spot, and have been married for 25 years, raised three children and are now proud grandparents of two.
Along the way they developed their own 'design / build' construction company and have built and restored many fine custom homes on the coast. Gabi is also a licensed massage practitioner and manages a local spa.
Gabi Fienburgh purchased this cottage in 1992
Why Gabi Fienburgh chose Mendocino
After living on the coast for almost 20 years we finally found a place we wanted to buy. On a quiet rural road inland from the fog belt was a cottage, overgrown and with a glorious blossoming cherry tree hidden behind the house. It felt like it could be our home and over the years we have transformed it into a sunlit, open and peaceful place that is the heart of our family.
What makes this cottage unique
Often, if the coast is foggy, just 3 miles inland the sun is shining and the property, though close to the redwoods, has a mix of pine, fir, cypress trees, rhododendrons and open gardens that let the sun shine on us most of the day. Coming from hazy Europe we are still awed by the clear, dark, star filled night skies.
