Welcome to the Tower House at Agate Beach. A landmark on the South End of Lopez Island.

This custom built three bedroom, two and a half bath home features a three story observation tower from which you will enjoy gorgeous views of the boats in MacKaye Harbor to the North, stunning sunsets over the twinkling lights of Victoria to the West and the Olympic Peninsula across the Staits of Juan De Fuca.

We have stayed in many vacation rentals ourselves and know what we have liked and what we have loved. So at the Tower House we have distilled all the positives into one relaxing, romantic, and fun place. Plush beds in clean comfortable rooms and a well appointed kitchen with a door leading to a seasonal organic herb and vegetable garden for your dining pleasure. This house offers plenty of soft seating in an open floor plan. For a little quiet time you may choose to lounge in the reading room or sip wine in the leather armchairs up in the tower. You will find lots of indoor and outdoor games, puzzles and books for all ages. On the decks there are plenty of chairs, flowers and a gas BBQ. We have covered storage for your bikes and kayaks too.

Our unique location between two picturesque bays offers varied opportunities for beach combing shells, building driftwood houses, watching shore birds, eagles, owls, otters, seals, tide pools, and so much more! We are a short walk to the dramatic headlands of Iceberg Point where you can spot anything from whales to native cactus growing along the bluffs (we get a fraction of the rain Seattle does.) Your shared private Agate Beach is just across the road and the boat launch is near by for fantastic fishing.

You will find several hikes and picnic destinations just a bike ride away, as well as the South End General Store and Restaurant that can supply you with a great selection of local produce and products, and has a world class selection of wine and beers.

Visit in the sweater season to enjoy the in-floor heat and the thrilling storms (we get seaweed in the yard)

all at off season rates.

About The Owner

We started building the Tower House in 1996 and finish a few years later. We have loved and continue to love our wonderful home. We moved to San Juan Island for our daughters education and hope in time to move back to the Tower House.

Why The Owner chose Lopez Island

We purchased this piece of land because it was such an amazing property. The views, the wild life. It also is close to my husbands parents, and we wanted our daughter to be close to her grandparents.

What makes this house unique

With the Straits of Juan de Fuca on one side and the protected MacKaye Harbor on the other side we feel we have the best of both views.

The Tower House Experience

This is one of the best "get-away-from-it-all" places that I have ever experienced. The Tower House has all the comforts of home but so much better because you're on vacation. There are so many little extras about this house that it's difficult to list them all but together, they make this an extraordinary experience. From the moment you walk in, you feel the peace and comfort that this house has to offer. The owners obviously know what they are doing as you really can't want for anything while you are there. The rooms are spacious and open and invite you to put your feet up, read your favorite book and relax. You can walk up the spiral staircase to the tower and see the water and the sunsets are incredible! There are marvelous places to hike on the island and one of my favorite parts is how all the locals wave to you. There are places to eat and a grocery store if you need to pick up anything too. I wouldn't hesitate to book this place and we plan on creating wonderful memories here at least once a year. Thank you so much for sharing this "bit of heaven" with the rest of us.

5 STAR FANTASTIC LOPEZ TOWER HOUSE

We've stayed in a lot of VRBO’s around the world and this is one of our favorites. The Tower House is gorgeous, immaculate, thoughtfully laid out, and incredibly relaxing. In fact, the hardest part of staying in this beautiful home was deciding whether to leave the house to take one of the nearby beach hikes or to stay at home enjoying the light filled space that had everything without seeming the least bit overdone. Tall ceilings, generous windows, a well-equipped kitchen, exquisitely comfortable furnishings (including the beds), all simply and stylishly put together adds up to WOW. We loved it! As my12 year old niece who scampered up to the tower upon entering said – “Oh Cooool!”. This house is spacious and inviting and the surrounding terrain is gorgeous. To top off a pitch perfect house is Kirstie, who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Thank you Kirstie - we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful visit to Lopez and could not have been happier at the Tower House! Every comfort was considered, from the luxurious beds and linens, to the games and puzzles for the kids, the beautiful location at Agate Beach, the clear notes describing beautiful nearby hiking trails, the well-stocked kitchen, and even a chalkboard welcoming kids' drawings. We will definitely be back!

Girls Weekned

Recently three of my best girlfriends and I got together for a weekend get away at the Tower House. We loved it so much, we've already booked it again for next year! Everything was exceptional, there was nothing left to want except more time to spend relaxing and enjoying the beautifully appointed house, the fantastic views and a wonderful time together. I am already considering how to sneak in another stay with my sweetheart this summer. Simply one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed.
