Photos and Description of the Duluth vacation house rental
3 Bedroom house on a trout stream

This is a secluded wooded 350 acre property on a great trout stream. Miles of private hiking trails await you. The Guest House at Namebini is a modern, three-bedroom, two bathroom house. It features a master suite with a Jacuzzi tub, and has a fully stocked kitchen, living room and washer/dryer. It comfortably sleeps up to 6 individuals in two queen and two twin beds. Wireless internet is available on site for those individuals who bring their own computer. A guest computer providing internet access is available as well, with printer. Amenities include satellite television, gas fireplace, outdoor charcoal grill, and stereo system with iPod connection. Smoking and pets are not permitted. Outdoor kennel is available for dogs.

An easy trail from the house leads down to the Sucker River and to our campfire area. Guests often enjoy sitting along the fireside rapids at dusk to watch the stars come out. There is an extensive trail network on the property, which is adjacent to public land offering additional fishing and exploration opportunities as well as access to the Superior Hiking Trail. A historic logging camp site at Namebini means you'll never know what you might find out in the woods. Bring a good pair of hiking boots along to see what you can discover!

Ask about our Guided Flyfishing for beginners through experts with your own on-site personal guide. Trips on regional rivers and streams are also available for trout, steelhead, smallmouth bass and more. We also have canoe and kayak rentals, let us know in advance if you’d like transportation to local lakes and river floats.

Looking for a different, more rustic option? We also have a hike-in-only 'River Cabin' that is just the way to do it. Located a short ten-minute walk down a scenic trail, the River Cabin sits less than 50 feet from the Sucker River on a high bank. Lots of windows on all sides of the cabin allow guests to immerse themselves in the forest at Namebini and the rhythms of the natural world. Summertime guests enjoy opening the windows and listening to water rushing over the river's riffles as they fall asleep at night. The cabin comfortably sleeps up to 4 individuals in one double bed in a loft and one fold-out couch with an integrated inflatable mattress. The River Cabin is entirely off-grid and is solar powered.

Why Carl Haensel chose Duluth

As children growing up in the Twin Cities we traveled and explored the North Shore of Lake Superior. After moving out of state, we always wanted to come back to Minnesota and the North Shore. In 2007 we purchased this property just outside of Duluth and Two Harbors. This forested stream is one of the best trout rivers in the area and we are working to preserve this unique habitat for future generations. We've added acreage as the years have progressed to continue with that mission. We work with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota conservation organizations to work on habitat improvement, conservation and research. We truly enjoy sharing this area with others as we create advocates for the environment.

Wonderful place to snowshoe

5 of 5
Submitted: April 3, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
We spent 3 days in March so there was lots of snow. Our first time as a family to snowshoe, and it was so much fun. The trails were well marked, provided beautiful scenery and it was very peaceful in the woods. There are several trails, and we were on a different trail each day. On the last day we were there, it was snowing and we got up early to snowshoe - it was so beautiful! Duluth is very close, so we spent 1/2 day there. There are also snowshoeing trails in Duluth, but we didn't have time to try them out. Cindy and Carl were excellent hosts, and we had everything we needed. The only thing that could be improved was the hot tub (water didn't get very hot).
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: We're glad that you enjoyed your time here at Namebini and that you were able to explore the great outdoors on our trail system. Thanks for the note on the hot water, we'll be sure to turn it up higher for future guests. We hope to see you back here in the future.
