Behind an electronic gate on a ridge overlooking Northern Lake Michigan and the west end of the Straits of Mackinaw, lies Trillium Ridge an eclectic manor house with 5000 sq ft of views from 64 water facing windows and outdoor access from 5 private decks and patios on 3 levels. Every room in this 3 bedroom (with a 4th bedroom disguised as a game room), spa like home has a view of water. The bathrooms feature spa comforts such as hot tubs, steam shower and water jet massagers. In addition an outdoor hot tub under the cantilevered dining room provides for a romantic hot dip and soothing massage outdoors but away from distant neighbors eyes.
The house features a gourmet kitchen as part of the great room that features a large stone fire place facing the lake. That fire place is just one of 6 fireplaces located through out the house with one in each of the two master bedroom suites.
A large gathering and music room greets guests as they pull up the drive on the upper level. Outside arriving guests are greeted by a view of the lake through an out door bridge that connects the screened gazebo to the formal dining room.
The home comes complete with fine China and crystal and the recreational toys include a canoe, kayak, and three bicycles for guest use.
Whether cooking inside on the chef's stove and ovens or using the upper deck level gas grill, gourmet meals bring family and friends together after a long fun filled day of skiing, hiking, swimming, boating or golfing at one the 12 golf courses and ski areas just minutes from the front gate.
Gary and Linda have used the home as a retreat from the hectic world of global enterpreneurs and sales. For many years it was their weekend retreat where they raised their son, now a physician in San Deigo, and a special place for their daughter and her family.
Today, Gary and Linda still use the home as their principal residence but their two sailboats one in South Florida in the winter the other in northern Lake Huron in the summer make the home available for short or even longer stays to interested parties.
Northwestern Michigan holds a special place in the Pauly's hearts as it has for other more famous people from Hemingway to Madonna. The gorgeous view of Lake Michigan and the cool breezes blowing across the lake and through the screened french doors of their bedroom at night are captivating. In the winter, the cozy fires take the nip out of the air after a long day of skiing and hiking. In all seasons, the sound of the great lake rolling up the shores of the beach just steps from the lake side doors greet family and guests when they arrive or wake from restful night sleep or nap in the screened gazebo.
Trillium Ridge combines the feel and beauty of the wilderness and its wildlife with the proximity of quaint community shopping in Harbor Springs, Petoskey and Bay Harbor. Own a boat and you can launch at one of a number of ramps around the area. You can even anchor it for a picnic lunch in front of this rental home and invite friends and family to walk down and water ski.
If inland fishing or fly fishing is something you enjoy a fast flowing trout stream fed by a large inland lake with no cottages on its shore is just across the country road with the lake 2 miles away.
216 holes of golf at 12 different world class golf courses can be reached within 30 minutes of the front gate while in the winter 2 major ski resorts are open from December thru March. If hiking and cross country skiing are your choice the trails just out side the doors connect to the second longest trail system next to the Apalachian trail in the United States. The North Country trail stretches from Maine to the Dakotas and is only 500 yards from Trillium Ridge's front door.
What draws people to this area? the susnets, the fresh sent of the pine forest, the sometimes boisterous roar of the waves, the gentle breezes blowing across your face as you sleep in the warm summer nights or the total silence of all things in the middle of winter as the snow slowly floats down on your up turned face. Those are just some of the things that draw you to this place and the sanctuary of Trillium Ridge.
Trillium Ridge provides guests with walking access to Lake Michigan's sandiest beaches. A trout stream flows next to the property and hiking and cross country ski trails in the winter are just outside the doors, decks and patios of this gated eclectic manor. Within a ten minute walk is a public inland lake with some of the best pan fishing including perch, bass, blue gill and pike. In the fall the lake becomes a haven for ducks and the woods and trails around the lake, a hunters paradise. Winter brings great cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
Trilliums Ridge's immediate proximity to the wilderness and outdoor activities is only matched by its driving proximity to the resort bayside communities of Harbor Springs, Petoskey and Bay Harbor.
Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island are only minutes away as is access to Lakes Michigan and Huron.
