The spacious, 1200+ square foot unit is located in the Blind Pass Condominium Complex (“Complex”) on Sanibel Island. The Complex is located on the quiet side of Sanibel and is situated on a lagoon where you can boat and fish. Cross the lagoon by a wooden foot bridge and you are on Bowman’s Beach- one of the best shelling and wildlife beaches on Sanibel. We have personally found some of the rarest sea shells on Sanibel Island (the Junonia, Lion’s Paw and Scotch Bonnet to name a few- GOOD HUNTING!). The Complex has complimentary canoes and kayaks for guests to use to explore the lagoon and see native mangroves, birds, fish, crabs and sometimes even manatees! The Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge (the “Ding”) is also nearby offering outstanding birding and wildlife viewing. You can ride a bike from the Complex, hike the Ding’s hiking trail, take the National Park Service interpretive tram ride or drive your car through the Ding. Don’t forget your camera!

The Complex amenities include a large pool which is heated in cooler weather, 2 tennis courts, kayaks and canoes, and gas grills.

While the Complex is a Nature Lover’s Paradise it is also a short ride from the many restaurants and fine shops of both Sanibel and Captiva.

Our Home:

Our home has 2 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the guest bedroom has 2 double beds. The unit also has a convertible queen size sofabed. The unit has a washer and dryer.

The spacious, 1200+ square foot second floor unit is surrounded by tropical vegetation and just steps from the best shelling beach on Sanibel Island and the Complex’s pool. Being on the second floor with no one above protects you from the annoyance of footsteps and other noises from above.

We recently purchased our unit after renting at Blind Pass for the past 12 years.

Our unit has recently been renovated. A brief description of the unit follows with some of the renovations being mentioned.

Granite counters have been installed in the kitchen and it has been well stocked to meet all your cooking needs. You and your family can eat at the large breakfast bar, dining room table or outdoor lanai. In addition, the Complex has 5 Weber gas grills available to guests.

The master bedroom suite has a new king size bed and the master bathroom has been renovated and enlarged to include double sinks.

The guest bedroom has two double beds and attractive furnishings and wall paintings. The guest bathroom has had a new vanity installed.

We have added Wi-Fi to the unit and have purchased flat screen TV’s and DVD players for each of the bedrooms. The living room has a 40” flat screen TV, a DVD player and a stereo player with an I-Pod dock. We also have books for both children and adults to read.

The lanai, which is nestled in palm trees, is very private and overlooks an osprey nest which is in the park adjoining Blind Pass.

The unit has new beach chairs, new beach umbrellas, a beach cart, a larger beach cooler, numerous beach and pool toys, children and adult board games, tennis rackets and balls, fishing rods together with lures, hooks and other fishing items including even a crab trap.

We hope you will decide to share our home and believe that your stay will be one of your best vacations ever.

We rent our unit by the week generally from Saturday to Saturday but when scheduling permits will make exceptions. Pets are not permitted in the complex.

Decompression is inevitable here

For selfish reasons, don't want to tell everyone how nice this place is but we have to be honest.
VERY clean, super quiet, stocked with many beach toys, not a far walk from the beach, etc. But also just a short drive from Bailey's General Store to stock up supplies.
You won't want to leave Bowman's Beach, feels like your on your own private beach, but when you need to satisfy your hunger, Island Cow or Doc Ford's are two great places to go.
Bailey's Shell Museum and Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge are literally right down the road. Can learn and see many things.
This place makes you feel like you just stepped into a friends home, not a rental.
Can't wait to come back REAL soon! Thanks for sharing such a great place with everyone else :)

Sanibel/Captiva Family Fun and Relaxation

Our family loves Sanibel - My husband has fond childhood vacation memories that he has shared with his family - now, we have caught the Sanibel/Captiva "bug". We were active with beaching, shelling, sailing, swimming, biking, shopping (including Sanibel Farmers Market on Sunday - The BEST!) and eating (Mucky Duck, Bubble Room, Green Flash, Tween Waters, Pinnochio/Zebras and Sanibel Bean). Baileys was our grocer of choice (with wonderful deli and bakery selection - try the doughnauts).

Blindpass was a wonderful location for allowing us to have the best of Sanibel and Captiva without the hassles of the Periwinkle traffic. The walk to the beach was an adventure through the nature path. However, it was all the wonderful toys, chairs, umbrella, beach cart, etc - that allowed us to enjoy the beach comfortably without overloading our car with bulky items - giving our family more space during our travels from OHIO.

The condo was well maintained and clean upon arrival - instructions on how to operate the electronics was definitely appreciated. We also enjoyed the amenities inside (W/D, kitchen, linens, fully stocked kitchen, etc) and outside (pool, grill, tennis court). Having a starter supply of necessities (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc) was also appreciated so that we didn't feel pressure to hurry out to the store.

Service regarding registration, check in and out was quick and professionally handled. We met a lot of nice families and tenants that were willing to share their knowledge of the Blind Pass experience whether at the pool, grill or hike to the beach.

The only reason we did not rate this excellent was due to the parking - though not within the control of the owners. Though we had assigned parking, the people beside us tended to park wide into our space which caused tedious parking in and out of the space (in addition cars were also able to park behind our spot which added more complexity). Signage indicated that guest parking was not to be overnight. But we did not see this rule to be enforced. The location of parking was not easy to load and unload our car - it would be nice if the community would have an area that were permit for short term parking for ease of loading/unloading.

Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone - especially those that like to drift between Captiva and Sanibel.

Enjoyed Our Stay in Paradise

The condo was great and decorated with real art. Very spacious and clean with nice towels. Special detail to beach supplies was a surprise such as shell collecting tools, beach umbrellas, toys, etc. Kitchen was very well equipped and I like to cook so it was great. Good cable and internet access. The complex is quiet and other guests and staff were friendly. There was plenty to do such as fish and walk the beaches. The walk to the beach was longer than expected and may be onerous for older folks. I needed the exercise and the vegetation on the way was nice so it was ok. Beds comfortable (but sofa bed was not). We would definitely return.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review of our condo. We purchased our place one and a half years ago and before that rented for many years at Blind Pass. Since purchasing our unit we have attempted to purchase and have available for ourselves and our renters the things we wanted as renters. (beach toys, beach carts, DVDs for children and adults, fishing equipment, cooking utensils, kitchen gadgets, etc.) Our improvements are a work in progress. We are currently having granite counters installed in the guest bathroom and are working with a decorator to refurnish the living room. (including a new sofa bed)

We wanted to comment on your description of the walk to the beach. Blind Pass is located adjacent to both Bowman's Beach State Park and Bowman's Beach. While the walk to the beach requires crossing a small walking bridge owned by the condo community over the bayou and then walking through the wooded path to the beach we actually consider this to be something that makes Blind Pass special. We are senior citizens and instead of finding the walk onerous are delighted with the walk. You never know what you are going to see. On our last visit we saw Manatees, alligators, fish, crabs and a multitude of different wading birds. We love it!
