Hana House Rental Photos and Description

Two story home with (2) one bed/one bath units, together sleeps 8

Aloha & Welcome,

The Hana Hale is located across the street from Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach. Our guests enjoy the privacy of their own home with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Our home is located within walking distance of Hana Bay, Luana Spa, Travaasa Hotel and Hana Fresh Farmers Market. Just a short distance down the road is Waianapanapa State Park and the famous Piilani Heiau at Kahanu Gardens. The Upstairs unit features one bedroom and one bathroom, full kitchen, living area, screened in lanai with ping pong, wireless Internet and basic cable TV. The separate downstairs unit has one bedroom and one bathroom, living room area and a screened in lanai. Remember Hana is a a rural tropical rainforest so there are insects and rain. We wish we could control both of them but we can't. But those are the things that make Hana so unique and beautiful. The $195/nite is for the upstairs unit only, if you have a larger party and would like to add the downstairs bedroom it is an additional $105/nite + $50 cleaning fee. Come enjoy Hana!

About T. Fisher

My husband and I were both raised on Maui, we live in Upcountry Kula, Maui where both sided of our entire extended family also reside. We have three wonderful children and one grandson. We have always had a special place in our heart for Hana where we spent our younger years fishing, paddling and diving with close friends and family. When the chance arose to own our own home in Hana we jumped at it because we knew this is the place where we wanted to enjoy our family and vacation time with friends.

T. Fisher purchased this house in 2012

Why T. Fisher chose Hana

We loved the in-town proximity you can walk to everything. Hana Bay and Waikoloa Beach are right across the street and the stores, restaurants and park are all within a few steps. Not to mention the beautiful Travaasa Hotel which we enjoy having drinks at on special occasions and the yummy Prawnee Thai Food down the street.

What makes this house unique

We have (2) One bedroom and one bath units. We usually just rent the upstairs but if you would like to rent both because you have a big party please ask. We have a great ping pong table, screened in lanais and beach stuff. You can walk everywhere and hear the ocean waves across the street.

Hana is located in a beautiful tropical rainforest so there are insects. There are mosquitoes, lizards and your occasional spider. We like the lizards (geckos) because they eat the mosquitoes and the mosquitoes and spiders come with the territory. We provide repellent and citronella candles and torches and these help but please remember to keep all screens shut.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable, with lots of nice touches. It is so centrally located, easy to find. We would certainly consider it again. Hana is so wonderful...it only rained at night while we were there.

Thank you

Small unit, but great location for exploring the East side

  • 4 of 5
This review is for the ground floor unit only. Our family of 5 squeezed into the ground floor unit for two nights and overall had a wonderful time. The unit is best suited for 4 people or less (hide-a-beds are never that comfortable, and it takes up too much precious space when open), and is really designed more as an overflow unit for the upstairs than as a full amenity unit (kitchen and bathroom are fairly small). The owners were easy to work with via e-mail and the cleaning lady was very helpful when we arrived. If we had the chance to do it over, we would have rented the upstairs unit and stayed three nights instead of just two...there are so many beautiful things to see on that side of the island that anything less than two full days isn't enough.

Owner's Response: Aloha Kenneth,

We are happy you and your family had a nice time in Hana. You are correct we do not normally rent just the downstairs unit, it is meant to be add on space for parties over four that are renting the upstairs unit already. The only reason we rented it separate to you was because we wanted to provide a place within your budget which we had discussed in detail. Housing a family of five in Hana would have cost you well over $400/nite elsewhere. As I suggested originally you should rent the whole house next time and definitely stay longer. Our cleaning lady is wonderful and I am glad you got the chance to meet her. We so look forward to your next visit and are grateful you were able to share Hana with your family while staying within your budget as we all know how expensive family trips can be. Safe Travels!

It is so wonderful that your family was able to spend time together in Hana. We ran into your family at the cross country meet and your grandson is a great runner! We look forward to having you all as guests again soon.

Just okay

  • 3 of 5
We enjoyed our stay but have a few suggestions. As you know Hana gets lots of rain and humidity therefore this Home needs WAY more ceiling fans and even A/C if that's possible. I felt so sweaty most of the time and almost purchased more fans myself. The bathroom shower curtain needs to be replaced since it's see-throw, looks kind of old and didn't look very clean. The refrig also needs some work, doesn't close right so food wasn't chilled properly. Other than that enjoyed our stay and loved all the trees and flowers on this property. Didn't see not one bug and hardly any Mosquitos which is pretty amazing!

Owner's Response: Aloha Marina,
I am glad your stay in Hana was enjoyable and that the bugs were not a bother. Sometimes when there is lots of rain we get mosquitoes but usually the tradewinds blow most of them out. It has been unseasonably hot lately with little or no wind so I understand how uncomfortable you may have been. We have purchased more fans, a new shower curtain and a NEW REFRIGERATOR which will be going in this next week. We will never install AC because we would have to charge $500/nite to cover the electricity bill and they tend to rust our being so close to the salt from the ocean across the street. We like the tropic and rustic feel of Hana and are happy that we can provide a home for tourists and locals alike that is somewhat affordable and accommodates large families. We really appreciate all of your suggestions and have taken them to heart. We hope that you chose to stay with us again so you can enjoy all of the improvements we will continue to make. Safe travels!

Owner's Response: Aloha Kim,

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and that our home was able to accommodate all of your families needs. We also love the convenient in town location. As you know with big groups it is nice that everyone can do their own thing and walk to the beach when they want. We hope the rest of your vacation was enjoyable and we look forward to your next visit with us.

Decent enough

  • 3 of 5
This being the first visit to Maui for my wife and I we chose to stay in both West Maui and Hana. Hana was cute & all but we did feel that we overbooked for the Hana experience and recommend to other first time visitors that a night or two is quite sufficient to explore the Hana highway and other sights beyond Hana. The property itself was ok; we stayed in the upper level which was spacious and clean. Our only property complaint would be that the light switches were difficult to figure out and the neighbors have dogs which bark loudly at night and early in the morning. The neighbors also seem to own a LOUD harley.

Owner's Response: Aloha Darrin,
We hope the rest of your stay on Maui was great. Hana is not for everyone and can be an adventure sometimes. I will speak to my neighbors about the dogs barking, I apologize. With gas prices now days it seems that many people are getting motorcycles to commute, I apologize for the noise. We wish you safe future travels!

Honeymoon in Hana

  • 5 of 5
This place is an amazing HIDDEN GEM!!! I live here on Maui and this house has a perfect beach setting. The owners have thought of every possible need you might have on vacation. Really close to some amazing beaches and a short drive to several more. I live and work here on Maui and have recommended it to everyone I know. Perfect staycation spot with a great kitchen and plenty of room for you to spread out and have some fun. Ping pong anyone??? Finally, this is one of the few vacation rentals that is dog friendly. Thanks to Tobi for her hospitality! I'm already trying to figure out when I can return.

Owner's Response: Aloha John,

So happy you had a great stay. We love that we can provide a place for families and "Man's Best Friend" (doggies) to enjoy. We are especially happy that it gives locals a place that has room for their families and a chance to enjoy Hana in a relaxed manner like it should be. The ping pong is one of the favorites, I think it is even more fun because the screened in Lanai keeps the ball from getting away from you and keeps the mosquitoes out:) We look forward to your next visit!
