Newly renovated and beautifully furnished cottage in wonderful location that is fully insulated and heated with propane fireplace and electric baseboard heaters.
We are very proud of our Cranberry Lake. This lake is not only one of the cleanest lakes in Haliburton but one of the best kept secrets for fishing. There's not alot of activity on the lake and certanly not that many boats. If you are a water skier or wakeboarder you will be in heaven. You very seldom see a ripple. There is a ski boat at the cottage and can be rented by day, week or by the month. Please contact us for details and price. For the people who love the snow, Haliburton is defiantly all about Hockey, Snowmobing and of course Snow skiing and snowboarding. You can google 'Sir Sams Inn' for there info on a really great ski slope with 4 chair lifts, bunny hill for the kids, and restaurant and its almost walking distance from the cottage.
It is located near 'Algonquin Park' - Canada's largest nature reserve and the famous 'Haliburton Forest' - a large private nature reserve that is open to the public for hiking, camping, nature walks, fishing and the famous tree top walk in the summer. Snowshoeing, dog sledding, luge and groomed snowmobile trails in the winter. Just minutes away! There are also some local maintained walking trails right near the cottage as well.
The bathroom is all new with separate stand-up shower with 5 shower heads separate fullsize bathtub, double sink and and a breathtaking view of our lake. This cottage is quaint with 2 bedrooms but has 2 beautiful double size bunk beds in one bedroom and a queen size in the other room. The liddle lady and i have been married for almost 20 years and soon to retire. We cant wait to spend our time in Gods country. We love Atlanta but the summer temps are just not bearable. So off to the cottage we go. Summer in the highlands! You just cant beat the Highlands of Haliburton.
PAT HURLEY purchased this cottage in 1972
Be well assured that when you stay in whispering pines that you will enjoy everything the haliburton highlands has to offer and that you will need nothing here. We want to get a steady stream of renters that enjoy the Highlands in a clean and comfortable cottage and know you will be back or invite your friends to stay. We recently all travelled to the cottage for Chistmas. All of the family had a blast. Skiing, taboganning, walking, reading and of course eating. Unfortunatley we are not afforded the luxury of having Peameal bacon. My God that is great.
This cottage is spotless and will remain this way. If your idea is to come up and party your ass off this the wrong location for you. Next door is the Muccluseys and they take care of the cottage for us and have for a long time. They have our best interest in mind and will not put up with any nonsense. Come and enjoy but be well advised if you do damage to our cottage you will pay the price.
I want to start by thanking Pat and his wife for their kindness and sharing their piece of paradise with my wife and I and our youngest son.We enjoyed the peacefulness and calmness this cottage has to offer. Its cleanliness was much appreciated, both inside and out. The views of the lake from the cottage, the fires at night and just relaxing on the dock will always be a memory. It was so nice to just fish and kick back and relax. Five muskie, two pike, two perch and a dozen bass. We made the short drive to Minden and I can now say i've been to the world famous Rockcliffe Tavern. Had dinner outdoors at the Dominion Hotel while listening to a local band (Sheri Hawkins), the sax player joined us between sets for a beer and we all had a great time.Hit up a great little outdoor market in Haliburton and West Gilford has the coolest General Store with everything you would need while vacationing, beer, vodka, flattened chicken and steaks. I would love to make this an annual trip and hope to also check it out in the winter. I can picture a real winter wonderland. Pat was great in making sure we had everything we needed and we both have one thing in common, we're both huge hockey fan's and both cheer the Leaf's. Hopefully some day we can meet and have a cold beer while watching our favorite team, or maybe even a day of fishing. Thanks again Pat.
This May, a group of young individuals and myself were lucky enough to spend a beautiful Victoria Day weekend at this amazing cottage. The owner Pat was able to provide us with all the necessary amenities in order to experience northern Canada to the fullest. The highlands include some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. If you love nature, fishing, barbecuing and ultimately spending time outside I would recommend you stay at this cottage because you will have the time of your life. The neighbours made sure everything inside the cottage was running smoothly during our stay and thoroughly explained how everything works inside the cottage as well. The first thing we noticed was how well the cottage was maintained inside and out. A brand new deck allowed us to enjoy breakfast and dinner in front of an amazing view.
If you're interested in fishing you're in for a treat. Cranberry lake features an abundant source of freshwater fish including; smallmouth and largemouth bass, muskie and from what I was told pickerel. During our trip we landed a 4lb largemouth, 4.5 lb smallmouth and a few muskie (largest topped 8.25 lbs). Keep in mind that the water was chilly during our stay so fishing was tough but we used our knowledge from what we saw to put together a set of trophy fish. To sum everything up this was one of the best weekends of my life filled with tons of memories and lots of laughs, if you're looking for something similar Pat is your man and cranberry lake is your destination!
My husband and I just came back from a very relaxing week in Haliburton. The cottage had everything we wanted and more. The property was very nice and well maintained, Great Lake views and an awesome fire pit for making s'mores at night. The new large deck was perfect for bbqing...every night we enjoyed our dinner while looking at the stunning Cranberry Lake.
The cottage itself was cozy and clean, with new furniture and a large bathroom. We had all amenities we could have needed in the kitchen as well. On rainy days it was nice to lounge around on the extremely comfortable couch and watch DVDs on the large television.
We were happy to be close enough to head into the town of Haliburton if needed, or run to the nearby country market to grab food, beer and wine.
We enjoyed many nice walks around the winding roads, and saw quite a few deer up close!
We made many great memories and look forward to coming back next year!
I rarely take the time to post revues for anything. However, I am compelled to convey a few words regarding my recent stays in Haliburton, ON.
Although I am from the Southern United States, I have, over the years, taken several vacations to the greater Toronto area. I have always enjoyed the Canadian people, sites, food, and overall atmosphere of the Country.
Despite a half dozen or so trips to Toronto, I have never ventured into cottage county. Over the winter holiday season, I visited VRBO to book a quiet get away for my fiance, thirteen year old daughter, and myself to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and play in the snow. The Cottage on Cranberry Lake in Haliburton immediately caught my attention. At first, the idea of a “rustic” vacation was rather scary for this city girl. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I was lucky enough to book a few days during the holiday season. For this southern girl, the beautiful snowy winter wonderland was breathtaking. The teenager and fiance had a blast learning how the ski at Sir Sam's Ski Resort. I had fun watching them fall down. The cabin was beautiful, modern, well-appointed, and quaint.
The homeowner explained that by the summer season outside amenities would be complete, such as outdoor entertaining space and dock. I immediately booked ten days for the high summer season. Again, the cottage exceeded our expectation. The surrounding townships were so much fun. From the weekly farmer's markets with fresh produce and locally made canned goods. No tourist trap here, its the real deal. The local food was amazing, from the peameal bacon to the Montreal smoked meat to the locally made fresh breads it was a feast for the senses. My favorite part was the rhubarb patch in the yard. I made 8 loaves of rhubarb bread and shared them with the neighbors. Swimming and fishing were great. Overall between the cottage and the management it feels like my second home. I have already booked a fall trip. I want to see a moose.
Perfect Haliburton location. Ten miles from town. Three miles from one of the best Italian restaurants in Ontario. Four miles to Sir Sams Inn and Spa. We are 40 min. South of Alqonquin park and less than an hour away from the 65,000 acre Haliburton forest and wildlife reserve with its 'a walk in the clouds' canopy tour, world famous wolf observatory, and its well groomed trails for biking and hiking. Three miles to west Guilford general store and yes it is a beer/liquor store. For the winter renters we are 400' to hwy 118 and our driveway is plowed all winter so you never have to worry about getting in and out. There is a oversized garage to store and heat your snowmobiles.
