Exquisitely renovated townhouse just off H street and Capitol Hill is Washington, DC’s newest addition of designer homes suited for accommodating professional and vacationing guests. This 4 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse comes with comfortable upscale furnishings and décor - granite counter tops, stainless kitchen, jacuzzi tub, study area. Just blocks of the ‘hot’ H street corridor and short distance from the US Capitol and Congress, this property is in walking distance to fine restaurants, shops of every variety, the acclaimed ‘Atlas theater’ and grocery shops. It has been fully renovated, and the owners paid special attention to details to make our guests stay very comfortable. For spring – fall stay there is a small garden patio for outdoor breakfast and evening cocktail hour. With off street parking, both rear and front door access, the 3-story design makes for lower and upper level separation for shared common use. The house comfortably accommodates seven guests. There is wi-fi on premises and cable tv.

This townhouse comes fully equipped with all bedding, kitchenware and appliances, bathroom accessories, library of books and cd/dvd’s for leisure time activity. Most of the Washington loved and visited landmark sites are within 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or public transportation (see location map). Our property manager is available to facilitate guests care needs.

About Tamara Moore

Townhouse owners are Rev. Paul and Tamara Moore. Paul is the Founder/Chairman of the Board, CitiHope Int., dedicated to making a world of difference for good in developing countries, 30 over the past 25 years. He is a retired Anglican affiliated priest, spending much of his pastoral life in NYC. Tamara has been involved with international humanitarian relief and development for 22 years, and worked with World Vision and CitiHope in Haiti, Africa, Central Asia and former Soviet Union. They own a Victorian ‘manse’ in upstate NY, and a Caribbean villa in the Dominican Republic, also available for vacation rentals. (VRB0 property # 82502). Currently they mostly live and work in the Dominican Republic.

Paul and I are always excited to explore and discover something new. This townhouse was a pleasant discovery. We have wonderful neighbors and a very pretty block. It is so quiet that sometimes you forget that you are downtown Washington!

What makes this townhome unique

Holiday concerts begin in November through Christmas. Cook up a feast in our gourmet kitchen or make reservations in a dozen of nearby restaurants. Do not miss Washington at its very best! The benefits include the public bus stop in the back of the house, literally 100 feet from the house door. There are bus routes all around the property. There is a small park the next block over where one can jog or just relax in the shade of the trees. It is convenient especially when you are tired after sightseeing. Shopping is not a problem at all, only two blocks towards Blandersberg Ave. And the best part is a new H Street with all the buzz, restaurants to meet any taste, street festivals, and Saturday markets.

We were a group of four resident physicians renting the house for a month-long conference in Silver Spring, Marlyland. The house itself is nice, with updated appliances, well-appointed bathrooms and bedrooms. The living room and dining room were well-decorated. There were enough dishes and kitchen appliances for us to use if we chose to cook, which wasn't very often. The bathrooms were clean. The house was well-kept and in very good condition. I would recommend the house to groups seeking to tour the DC area. For us, it was a hefty commute to Silver Spring everyday for our conference, but we were on a budget. The owners were accomodating and willing to negotiate with us. The house is in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Riding the bus to Silver Spring was quite an experience, and not one I hope to repeat, to say the least. H Street is a five minute walk and has many cool bars and restaurants. However, there is, as one of my colleagues put it, still some "corner action." I went for a run in the neighborhood around 5:30 pm. However, it is not one of those neighborhoods that I would go for a run in at night, by myself.

Washington house

Everything went to plan, lovely home with all amenities, in an area being re gentrified which was very interesting for Australian tourists. A little out of town,but as soon as 'the tram' is up and running (I think November 2014) will be a perfect place to stay.
Unfortunately the basement bedroom had a strong smell of mould, found to be rising damp on an outside wall, the agent was contactable and promptly tried to fix the problem.
We were 4 mature women and would stay again if we were to visit Washington

A Wonderful Holiday Home

Our trip to Washington DC has been fantastic and a large part of this is due to the house which is relaxing and so very welcoming. We arrived late at night and were very happy to see the flower wreath on the front door after choosing to walk from Union Station. The photos and description in the listing are accurate and in my opinion do not fully reflect the home's beautiful interior. Throughout our stay we enjoyed the feeling of 'home'. I can not say enough about the value of air conditioning and how fast everything cooled down. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable after long days walking. All the appliances worked well and the showers had better water pressure than many hotels I have stayed in. It was such a treat to sit on the front porch, even with the heat.
I had read about the Trinidad neighbourhood in these reviews and through various online sources and knew what to expect. Yes, this neighbourhood is in transition and you can see that walking within a block of the home but...we did not have any problems coming in at night or leaving in the morning, we kept our heads up and were watchful as you do in any city.
We chose to walk to all the Museums and found so much to see on our travels. Union Station is about 30 minutes walking through wonderful neighbourhoods with tree lined streets and beautiful homes (the shade was wonderful). H street has some eclectic little restaurants with great food and ambiance.
In closing, would we choose to stay in this home again...absolutely! The neighbourhood is evolving and a 30 minute walk,$12.00 cab or an easily accessed public transit bus can bring you back to the house after a long day of museum treks and sightseeing.

Lovely retreat after a day of sightseeing

This is a lovely home, exactly as pictured. We visited over the 4th of July with 1 teen and 2 pre-teens, and were thrilled that they each were able to have their own room. Our teenager particularly enjoyed having the basement to herself. The decor is beautiful, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well-equipped, and even had spices and pasta left from prior visitors. We very much enjoyed being able to make sandwiches and cook dinner instead of having to eat out every meal.

The single disadvantage is that it is not close to the Metro. I understand why some reviews say the neighborhood is sketchy, but we never felt unsafe. It is in the Trinidad area of DC, which for many years was a run-down and dangerous neighborhood. But it now is benefitting from gentrification and the H Street development, and this end of the neighborhood is much the same as any other area in DC. We didn't go out at night, but were very comfortable walking to and from the various bus stops during our day time sightseeing. The only night we heard any street noise was the 4th of July.

We relied on the bus system, which is much the same as any urban bus system anywhere in the country. Some routes (the X2 particularly) were overcrowded and often off schedule, while the less crowded routes (D8) were not frequent. The 7-day bus pass (available at CVS a few blocks away) was a great deal. We didn't use the metro enough to make that pass worthwhile. The bus stops were 3-4 blocks from the apartment, and were an easy walk. The Safeway is within walking distance, but we found the WalMart that was right on the bus line to be more convenient for restocking trips. A few times we had to call Uber because the bus line was too slow for us to make an appointment, but overall, we found the bus system fine for our sightseeing needs.

All in all, we were very happy with the house. It was lovely, and the location was just a minor inconvenience. Tamara was a joy to work with, and making all of the arrangements was easy and painless. We highly recommend this house for a family or group of friends needing a pleasant space.

Beautiful home away from home!

This house was a perfect place to stay while we visited Washington DC! We had 7 people (4 adults, one 16 year old and two 12 year olds) who stayed for 5 nights and it truly felt like home. The beds were extremely comfortable and the entire house was comfortably cool even tho the temps were in the upper 80s. We loved having a fully stocked kitchen and took advantage of cooking breakfast each morning. We parked our car in the carport in back and used public transportation (bus/metro) during our entire stay. We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood and enjoyed meeting the neighbors too. The upstairs bathroom tub was truly amazing with whirlpool jets and plenty of hot water.
The house was exactly as described and was very clean and well-maintained. The pictures were very helpful and accurate as well.
We would highly recommend this house to anyone who is looking to visit DC!!

The townhouse is located two blocks from the nearest grocery store - Safeway and CVS, and two blocks from H Street, between 12th and 13th streets with access to many restaurants, Atlas theater and Atlas gym. We love to take a walk to the Union Station and beyond to the Capitol. This is a pleasant walk to see beautiful historic townhouses, parks and government buildings. H street is also very nice after dark.
