We are conveniently located on the Hamakua Coast. You can take day trips anywhere on the island and come home each night to total relaxation and perfect sleeping weather. The Paniolo Cottage is a perfect example of Hawaii country living.
Tim and Terri Dolan have been married 26 years and are living their dream. Tim spent 20 years in the Marine Corps flying anything they would give him the keys for.. They have two children, Chelsea & Eric. Tim loves to exercise, read and paddle. Terri enjoys gardening, exercising, reading, decorating and generally spoiling our guests.
We like to say that this house found us! Our family was quite content living a block from Kailua Beach on Oahu. We were on vacation and looking at the possibility of purchasing a few acres to someday build a cabin on for weekends and retirement. After we saw this spectacular property we returned to the Oahu and neither one of us could stop thinking about it. This property spoke to both of us - we adjusted our lives to make this dream come true. The rest is history...
The Paniolo Cottage is accented with Hawaiian Cowboy decor and detached from the main house. It's large living area has a 47' flatscreen television with Dish satellite, a wood burning stove with ocean view bay windows and a dining area. The cottage is equipped with a full kitchen and everything you may need to feel at home. Even the kitchen windows have ocean view! The separate bedroom boasts a king sized cowhide bed, equipped with a memory foam mattress and 1500 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets. There is also a full bathroom. The lanai of the Paniolo cottage is where you may find yourself most of the time. Look to your left and see the summit of Mauna Kea and to your right and see rolling green pastures of Ohia and Koa trees that lead your eyes all the way down to the ocean. On clear days it is hard to tell where the sky and ocean meet.
The Big island is often referred to as a 'miniature continent' and is an excellent choice for a vacation destination. This island has the only active volcano in Hawaii, snow capped mountains, tropical rain forests, barren deserts, waterfalls, valleys, and beautiful beaches...
We are nestled at 3500 ft elevation on the beautiful Hamakua Coast. The Hamakua Ranch House sits on 30 incredibly serene acres with abundant wildlife including wild turkey, pheasant, and other native birds.
The view is absolutely spectacular from anywhere on this remarkable property. From the front porch you can see the beautiful summit of Mauna Kea (you can see snow on the peak at times). On the back decks, you can sun, read, have cocktails or just relax as you look out across rolling pasture with koa and ohia trees and see all the way down to the ocean; it is hard to tell where the sky and ocean meet. You can also see Haleakala on Maui when the conditions are right.
The Hamakua Ranch House is conveniently located with unlimited choices of things to see and do on the Big Island. Whether you choose to visit historic Honokaa, see the breathtaking views of Waipio Valley, or head west through historic Waimea to the Kona Coast for the beautiful beaches, travel south to see magical waterfalls, or visit Kilauea volcano, you can do it all from this location. Explore the Big Island during the day, and return to heaven each night to relax and enjoy true peace and quiet.
On clear nights, you will feel like you can touch the stars as you sit on your own deck or gather with us and other guests around the fire pit. This is beyond doubt a getaway place that you will remember and want to return to again and again…
