My husband and I stayed here in early October this year when the fall foliage was just starting to pop. There's nothing more beautiful than Door County in the Fall!
The cabin was very retro and cute. Loved the creek of the old wooden steps going upstairs to the bedrooms. In fact one night I dreamt I was staying in an old lighthouse so that kind of stuck with me for the rest of the week and I loved it! All of the comforts of home were provided in the cabin, We didn't miss a thing. The TV worked fine. We got about five or six channels but we didn't watch much TV. We spent most of our time touring Door County. The wifi worked perfectly if that's important to you.
What we really enjoyed was the firepit. We had a campfire every night. On one side of the cabin there's huge trees that act as a wind break. Very nice on windy days or nights while stirring the fire. On the other side of the cabin there was what I thought looked like an enchanted forest. It was so pretty when the sun was setting! The views from the yard,of the lake, are incredible! Sunsets that took our breath away!
I would warn those of you with young kids that this might not be the place for you because of the rocks leading down to the lake. While beautiful and negotiable, they appear to me to be quite dangerous for the little ones.
Thank you Pat for sharing this little Door County gem! We would definitely stay here again!
Looking for a quiet, secluded, perfect spot for two people with a small pet?? Here it is!! The wife and I absolutely loved it here. From being right on the waters of Green Bay to being within reasonable driving distance to everything Door County has to offer, this place was amazing. Loved being able to sit around the fire and listen to the waves coming in and being able to look at the water while sitting in the kitchen having a meal. The cable reception is spotty at best, but was of no concern to us as we weren't there to watch TV. The wireless internet is a nice touch, works great for checking emails or catching up on Facebook. All in all, I really can't say enough good things about this facility or it's owner, Pat, who was amazing from the very beginning. We will be going back next year and would love to stay here again. Thanks Pat for everything!!
The setting of this home is beautiful. Great view overlooking Green Bay. The yard was pretty and very well-maintained. The house is very clean, rustic, and perfect for a small group and pet. The home is also well-kept. The location is very quiet, but it is an easy drive to Sturgeon Bay or Egg Harbor on Bayshore Drive which has very little traffic. Pat, the manager, was very nice to work with. The TV only picked up the local Fox channel, but that was OK with us, as we weren't there to watch TV. Wireless worked well. Overall it was a great stay!
Everything ent smooth for is checking in and the owner gave us information for the local area. The house was clean and had all the basics. The real highlight is the property. The views are stunning and it feels remote- you can sit in silence on the great lawn by the water and not even realize that you have neighhbors. We loved it. It was a great spot for our little family and two young kids.
Definitely a throw back to the 60's. Totally authentic. We loved it... and the proximity to the water is a huge bonus along with the firepit!
The sunsets and view from the back yard of this lovely cottage are breathtaking. My husband and I loved our long weekend at Sunset on Bayshore. The cottage had everything we were looking for - a quiet location convenient to everything that Door County offers, easy access to the water (an easy climb down the rocky steps), a dog-friendly home with great spots to walk our dogs, a gas grill and fire ring, and all of the comforts of home! The TV, internet, and cell phone reception was very spotty, but to be honest, it was nice to take a break from media and just enjoy the outdoors. Pat, the owner, was easy to reach if we had questions. We would definitely come back again!
Firewood is available at Birmingham's General Store and also at roadside stands on Bayshore Drive. Please, please do not bring firewood into the county.
