4 Bed/3 Bath with City Views, Half Block off Bourbon St

Fifth on Fourth is the place to be if you're looking for a special New Orleans experience! The property is a 2600 sq ft, two-story penthouse apartment with four bedrooms, three baths, a special kids room, a wet bar, full kitchen, full laundry room with washer/tumble dryer, and a private balcony overlooking the French Quarter skyline. An architecturally unique space, it is part of a rehabilitated warehouse built in 1919 and no two apartments are alike. There are many exposed brick walls throughout the apartment and the balcony overlooks the rooftops of the French Quarter. There is also a rooftop community pool, a beautiful spacious courtyard common area, a rooftop community cabana with wetbar, and gorgeous views of the city at night.

The apartment is furnished with beds enough to sleep up to 12 guests and the style is colorful and eclectic, very much like the Big Easy! It will most definitely be a unique New Orleans experience! There are five TV's in the apartment: four 32' LCD flat screens in the four bedrooms and one 50' LCD flatscreen in the living room. The dining area is bistro-style, with a grouping of three tables and chairs, much like a bar or restaurant. The kitchen is fully outfitted with dishes, pots and pans, etc, and has a built-in microwave, full-size fridge with ice-maker, and full-size electric stove. All three bathrooms have shower-over-tub configurations.

Many world-famous restaurants are just steps from the apartment and the entire French Quarter is just outside the gates. It is a very secure building and the apartment is on the fourth and fifth floors, thus the name Fifth on Fourth! The Canal Street Streetcar is just a block away and will take you all over the downtown area, as well as out to City Park and connects to the St. Charles line which takes you Uptown to the Garden District.

Bourbon Street is just a half-block away and shopping on world-famous Royal Street is only two blocks away. The Mississippi River is just six blocks away, as well as the Aquarium, the Canal Street free ferry (a fun way to cross the Mighty Mississippi to Old Algiers Point), Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, and much, much more.

Elizabeth, the owner, was so delightful to deal with and just amazing with communication and ease for renting the home. She also provided local recommendations which could not have been more helpful. Angela, the property manager, made my daughter’s 21st birthday a true success with her superb decorations and attention to detail! The home itself was immaculate, spacious and extremely comfortable. The location could not be beat for those who would like to experience the French Quarter/Bourbon Street/Riverfront/Casino, etc., and all NOLA has to offer and still have a quiet place to retreat to. Thank you again Elizabeth & Angela!

Me and my friends stayed at Fifth on Fourth for my bachelorette party last weekend for three nights. The penthouse was absolutely perfect for us! Everyone had plenty of room, the space was clean, and the location could not have been better. We would have stayed for an entire week if we could have! The landlord was so informative and easy to work with. I just could not be happier with our choice to stay at Fifth on Fourth! We can't wait to come back!

Great location, great place, perfect for a stag party

Couldn't complain at all with the location. Less than a block from bourbon. The place is huge with tons of beds, it fit our entire bachelor party group comfortably. The unique decorations add a lot of character to the place. She provides plenty of cookware and glasses, you don't even need to worry about bringing your own plastic wear for drinks.

Not Worth It!

The location is the ONLY decent this about this place. Families (or anyone with standards)- save yourselves the nightmare and stay somewhere else! The building is in complete disrepair, with chunks of plaster falling off the walls and leak marks all over the ceiling. The showers barely worked, many lights were broken and didn't get fixed despite the request, and the laundry is literally so loud you can't use it and hold a conversation! The elevator was broken, and the building stairs don't even access the 4th floor, resulting in a nightmare for my handicapped husband who was forced to use a parking garage around the block to enter. It was a bit absurd, really. However, if all you want to do it walk down on Bourbon and plan on being so drunk when you return that the bed is the only thing you need, then this place will be fine.

Owner's Response: I understand your frustration, Lauren, and I apologize for the issues you experienced with the building. I have similar feelings about the building repair and maintenance problems; i.e., lack of plaster repair, the elevators, the ceiling lights. All of those particular issues are handled by the building's maintenance staff, and because it was the holiday season, my requests for service didn't get addressed until after New Year's Eve and the Sugar Bowl. The elevator mechanical part has been ordered, but I'm told it is in Chicago where the airport is snowed in and flights haven't been able to get out. Hopefully that will be repaired within a week. All the tenants of the building are experiencing the same frustration, I can assure you.

The issues that I had control over have been fixed -- new shower heads have been installed, a new washing machine is on order, and what lights we can reach without the loan of the tall ladder owned by the building have been replaced.

The parking situation is something that I have absolutely no control over, although the parking deck elevator actually provides closer access to the apartment than the front entrance.

I believe you found the apartment itself clean and comfortable, as you didn't remark on any issues related to that before during or after your stay. Yours is the only negative review we've had since listing with VRBO/HomeAway. I've been fortunate enough to receive glowing comments from former guests and I appreciate any constructive criticism that can improve the accommodations. The majority of the issues you experienced are a series of mechanical/maintenance issues that take time to repair/replace and I have little or no control over.

Again, I offer my sincerest apologies for the troubles you experienced and I have refunded a portion of your rental fee as compensation.

Guys Weekend in NOLA

11 of us recently stayed at 5th on 4th for a guys weekend. We could not of asked for a better place to stay. There was plenty of room for us & the place was well maintained. It is centrally located only a 1/2 block from Bourbon Street. The building is secure with a security gate & guards - we didn't ever feel unsafe. The owner was great to deal with & quick with responding to questions. We would strongly recommend this property for a larger group looking to be close to the all action NOLA has to offer!
