Nimes Cottage Rental Photos and Description
Independent 2 bedroom cottage (gite) to sleep 4, ideal couple or small family
The property is set alone on a low plateau below the historic Chateau de Fressac, with views across the Cevennes on all sides. The cottage, newly-built into the former granary, has its own front door opening into the living area, the double master bedroom to the right. This bedroom also has a miller's staircase to a single loft bed suitable for an agile youngster. The living area is L-shaped into the open plan modern, well-equipped kitchen. A flight of stairs leads to the mezzanine (gallery) floor which is furnished with either double or single bed as required, or can be used as office space. Beyond this is the bathroom with large semi-enclosed (wet-room style) shower and lavatory. The cottage has its own exclusive patio with table and chairs, and guests have full access to our large swimming pool, and a reserved stone table and benches in the gardens. We have a 50m x 15m dressage/jumping school, a 22m circular sand arena, stables and superb mountain walks and bridleways all around. Nearby all sorts of activities are available, from kayaking and equestrianism of all sorts to wine-tasting and bargain-hunting in local brocantes. The area is rich in fine village restaurants offering great value and superb wines. The owners of the property are great friends with several local growers, and can point you towards excellent tastings. We are 40 minutes from Nimes by road, 50 minutes from Montpellier, 90 minutes from Avignon, 120 minutes from Marseille. The property is set on a low plateau below the Chateau de Fressac in the heart of Languedoc wine-growing country in the foothills of the Cevennes. We are surrounded only by olive groves and vineyards, and have no immediate neighbours, the property standing on 28 acres of fields, lawns, woods, streams and hillside land.

About Bill Homewood
Bill Homewood and Estelle Kohler are British classical actors. Estelle, after 40 years as a leading lady with the Royal Shakespeare Company, is now retired, and Bill, after a life on stage and television, records audiobooks and occasionally teaches theatre to professional actors in France, UK and USA.
Bill Homewood purchased this cottage in 2004
Why Bill Homewood chose Nimes
We love France, and had owned holiday property in this area since 1987, finally moving permanently to Languedoc in 2000. We bought Mas la Chevalerie to have our animals around us, and because it is probably one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is utterly calm.
What makes this cottage unique
Despite the extreme tranquillity of our valley, there are bakers, cafes, shops, supermarkets and restaurants within 5 minutes by car. We are only 40 minutes from Nimes Airport (Ryanair from London/Luton).
