Beautiful architectural home in secluded mountain setting, surrounded by majestic oaks and some of the most magnificent views in the area. Newly refurbished and redecorated, this 1900 sf home is the crown jewel of a 10-acre compound halfway up Sulphur Mountain to 'Heaven', the Hagman estate, and neighboring Meher Mount meditation retreat. The property owners live in a separate residence located discretely out of sight yet close enough to arrive in a moment's notice to start the evening fire or give directions to the locals' favorite watering holes. We've paired privacy with first-class service, and old-world luxury with an authentic rural experience – replete with fresh fruit, farm animals and night skies flooded with stars undimmed by city lights. No wonder the unspoiled Upper Ojai Valley has become the favorite hideaway spot for the other kind of stars, too!
I've lived at 3 Dog Ranch for nearly 20 years; it's where I raised my son, now 13, as well as too many dogs, cats, horses, goats and chickens to recount. Now nestled in the 'Ranch House' (actually a converted barn!) with my boy and my man, we're sharing 'La Casa Grande' for the first time with the traveling public.
When I came to the Ojai Valley nearly 20 years ago looking for property, it took but one visit to this magical place in the the Upper Ojai to convince me I must stay. Once you have visited 3 Dog Ranch you, too, will be taken in by the panoramic views, the majestic oaks, the tranquility of the starry night skies.
Whether sipping fresh-squeezed orange juice at daybreak on the front porch looking out over the Ojai Valley, or sipping a glass of wine in the hottub on the back porch watching the Pink Moment arrive upon the Topa Topas at sunset, the serenity will wash over you and, like me, you may never want to leave.
3DogRanch is located in the Upper Ojai Valley, 8 miles from downtown Ojai going west and 12 miles to Santa Paula going east. Both small towns are rich with local culture, art, museums, shops; Santa Paula even has a small private airport. Another 20 minutes drive from either direction puts you at the Ventura & Oxnard beaches (or Carpinteria, just a few miles further north). State parks and beaches are plentiful and offer all forms of water activities. Lake Casitas is also located just the other side of Ojai-proper, and offers boating and fishing and a water park in the summer. Right here in the Upper Valley are some of the best hiking trails for accessing magnificent views and year-round streams and ponds.
