Enjoy our newly renovated, newly furnished 1-bedroom condo right in the heart of the 'old city' or “vieux-quebec”. The condo is in a charming building from the early 1800's, has a sunken living room and a loft bedroom full of character with original brick walls and old wood beam ceiling. The building is two blocks from chateau frontenac and st. Lawrence river, and is surrounded by cobble stone roads within a quaint old france-like village setting.
The condo sleeps 2 people in the loft bedroom and has a sofa bed in the sunken living room for an additional 2 people. The condo is fully equipped so all you need are your groceries, toiletries and voila, you have a place to live! Driving is not required as you are in the center of the action within walking distance to dining, shopping, museums, ferry rides and the list goes on.
Our family arrived in Quebec City just before Christmas and stayed for a week. The condo is clean and well equipped. The breakfast nook window is a wonderful place to sit and read as the horse drawn carriages travel the street below. Everything you could possibly need is within a short walk - restaurants, markets, site-seeing. Here are some of our favorite recommendations: Walk a few blocks to tour the fort and learn about the history of the city. Enjoy some crepes Casse-Crepe Breton - YUMMY! Take an evening ghost led tour of the city with Les Promenades Fantomes! Eat a bison burger or caribou sausage at Aux Anciens Canadiens! Pick up coffee and a pastry at Paillard. Davids Tea - amazing! Christmas Market at the port. Carols on Rue du Petit-Champlain. Midnight mass at Notre-Dame du Quebec. Skiing at La Massif about 1.5 hours drive but well worth it. There is so much to see and do that we couldn't get to it all in the week!
This condo made a wonderful home base for a week of adventure and fun. Cameron and Marjo are wonderful hosts!
(One little warning ...the steps to the loft are a little steep and the washer/dryer is down 2 flights of steps so if you have any mobility issues that might be something to consider.)
The apartment was everything it was promised to be. The interior is newly remodeled and area was within walking distances to all the sites. The owner was very informative and his concierge was most helpful. We parked in a garage two blocks away and the fee was very reasonable. The apartment was clean, quiet and very comfortable. We made several dinners at the apartment and had breakfast everyday before taking on the frigid Christmas weather. We toured the town for Christmas week, taking a food tour the first day to get a lay of the land. Despite a good size snow storm getting around was easy as the city workers do know how to handle this weather. We are planning to return when the flowers are in bloom and hope that this location is again available.
The perfect location just inside the old city walls but not right in the middle of the action so it was nice and quiet for sleeping. Very convenient, just a couple of blocks walk to most anything in Old Quebec. I was a little apprehensive about the bathroom not being on the same level as the bedroom but it worked out just fine. Lots of windows so it was bright and cheery. Very comfortable bed, nice linens and towels. Some of the horse carriage drivers used the street as their route home at the end of the day. It was fun to hear the clip-clopping as they came down the street and went right by the condo. The host and owner were both very nice and very accommodating. Emails before and after I arrived were answered same day. Yes, I would highly recommend staying there and did -- my sister stayed there a couple of weeks ago.
We cannot say enough wonderful things about this property and this city.
The condo was spotless, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Marjo made us feel welcome and got us settled comfortably. Having access to the laundry downstairs made it feel homey as we were on the second half of our holiday.
Everything we needed, restaurants, stores, sightseeing was well within walking distance and my husband even found some running trails to work off the decadent food while I enjoyed reading a book and listening to the horse drawn carriages pass by on the cobblestone street outside the condo.
The only potential drawback to the condo was the stairs. However, if you can handle the streets of old QC you won't have an issue.
We will be back!!
Thank you Cameron and Marjo for making our stay lovely!
My wife & I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-May 2013. The loft itself is ideal for 2 people seeking a romantic getaway in Old Quebec. Excellently located on a quiet, historic side street, it sits well for just about every activity enjoyed on foot. We didn't but without much luggage, you could even walk to the loft from the train station. The loft is cozy with every amenity, including free access to washer/dryer in the basement. Our host Cameron was accessible, helpful & craves feedback: the rental was easy & without hassle. We would certainly recommend to friends & family.
My fiancé and I spent a wonderful week in Old Quebec at this gorgeous condo. The sunken living room and the beamed loft bedroom were cozy and very clean. The location was ideal within easy walking distance of major attractions and landmarks such as Citadel, Place-Royale, as well as many quaint boutiques and several museums/art exhibits.
The proximity to a local grocer as well as several restaurants made it easy to plan meals and romantic evenings.
The extra touches in the apartment such as the high end coffee maker, the ipod dock, the tasteful decorations made us feel right at home. Marjo was great and very helpful in pointing out many useful facts about the area.
We would definitely return – hopefully in the summer to get a different glimpse of the city–and take advantage of the 30% discount for return visitors!
Québec city has a truly unique ambiance, from breathtaking settings to romantic hideaways, each more seductive than the last. Those who are entranced by former centuries will be charmed by restaurants tucked into homes dating from the 18th and 19th centuries in old québec city and the portneuf area, on the beaupré coast, or in ancestral homes on the île d’orléans.
There are many art galleries, bistros and patisseries to explore and the experience can be a complete gastronomic delight! The local market is only a 10 minute walk and you can shop for your favorite European treats, vegetables, herbs and meats to bring them back to the condo to enjoy. You will discover boutiques such as you rarely find anywhere else. Arts and crafts, collectors' items, designers clothing, confectioner's shops, glass-working factories, it's the ideal place to come up with an original gift, an unusual decorative object or a distinctive piece of clothing, in a setting filled with history, strolling through narrow cobblestone streets between centuries-old houses. Between your discoveries, you can relax in a café, a restaurant or a bistro, and quietly enjoy all that this unusual place has to offer.
Quebec city is beautiful all year long and especially amazing for winter lovers: enjoy le massif for a European experience for both skiing and dining and some of the most spectacular views, and mt. Ste. Anne only a 20 minute drive away and great for kids.
