Situated on the top of the village, below the ancient 'Castrum' and near to the Symi Museum, it overlooks the small square with its tipical restaurants and tavernas. Five min walking distance from the harbour and beautiful beaches
We spent our holidays in Lodovica's house on july 2014: it has been one of my favorite holydays ever, so much that I'm now planning to move to Symi (which is a stunning island, quite close to Rhodes, about 1 hour ferryboat distance).
The house is unbelievably charming, tasteful and located on the top of the small island which is the best spot to be! Bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms are fully equipped and clean (and, again, so cute that it'd be hard not to wake up in the greatest mood!). At our arrival, Lodovica, the owner, came to pick us up and brought us to the scooter rental agency, just after a refreshing glass of white wine by the harbour. She infact suggested to rent a scooter for our entire holyday before we arrived and I have to admit that it was the perfect solution to let us enjoy every single corner of Symi. Plus, as she knows tthe island very well, she gave us a lot of priceless advices like suggesting us to spend one day by a little beach (a jewel) where is possible to eat typical greek lunch surrounded by the smell of wild sage and a bunch of sweet goats..sunbeds and beach umbrellas were for free!! Well, me and my friend are still in contact with Lodovica, we are now friends and I look forward to going back there.
Let's start with the positives...the house is pleasant and in a convenient location, near to a couple of good tavernas which had good basic Greek food and friendly owners. The proximity to the tavernas and bars did mean it was quite noisy until late but we got accustomed to it and it was traditional Greek music and chatter, nothing unpleasant. Now for the significant negative, which has caused me to rate the property as only 1 star. My husband and I required internet access whilst away and we booked this property primarily on the basis that internet access was not only advertised on this listing but was confirmed in an email from the owner. We found on arrival that the house does not have Internet access. What was worse was that the owner was very off hand and did very little to resolve the problem. She claimed that as her assistant could get access from the street outside the house, she couldn't see a problem. From this experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending the property to anyone, as the facilities advertised may not exist and if you have any problems during your stay, the owner doesn't appear interested in resolving them.

Owner's Response: ".... dismissive owner and not interested in resolving the problems of her guests....."
Maybe that Guest forgot we arranged and sorted every problem out before her arrival, starting from the very special rental price offered, to the totally unusual method of payment,
and furthermore the picking up service specially arranged for their arrival during my absence. In addition to this a person in charge of the house and of the Guest assistance
was available on call at any moment. But even they seemed to be happy and satisfied "for all the arrangents done", as they wrote to me by email, I was told they were not able to have telephone access. I'm afraid it depended on roaming costs though !
This problem maybe created some difficulties.
Now let's talk about internet access and other house facilities advertised :
I just need to let you know I am right now sitting in the same house, working on my laptop , sending emails and getting back to this completely unreal review without any connection problem .
I have since years a regular contract with the local Telecom provider consisting of home telephone line, ADSL, internet , WI-FI etc. In addition to that I did install an additional
home repeater allowing a better signal in the whole property, inside and in the outside areas. This additional device has been recently installed especially for those Guest and it works fantastic.
A last "curiousity" , concerning the listing of the facilities : I received an email from these Guest during the following day after their arrival and saying :
..... "also, there is no washing machine as stated on the facilities list......"
In effect there is a huge 7 kg MIELE washing machine, but in a store-room , under the ground floor with its own entrance door..... I dont' think it would have been very nice to put such a monument in the living room !
Panic does not help, ever ! And I would finally suggest that a telephone call more could sometime save a situation !
We spent our holidays in Symi on August 2010. Symi is a really nice little island near Rhodi where most of the people go only for a one day trip but if you get the chance to stay longer is definitevely well-worth!
We found Lodovica apartment on Holiday Rentals website and we loved the pictures.
The house is lovely, colourful and arranged with taste.
At our arrival Lodovica waited for us at the harbour, offered us a delicious iced coffee and then picked us up at home with her car.
The house is located on the top of the island, in the Chorio area (which is not suitable if you have walking problems).
We loved the location: quiet, with a great atmosphere and near Syllogos, probably the best restaurant of the island.
Two little shops to get groceries and food are also within walking distance from the house and there is also a nice bar round the corner.
We were 5 people and we would reccomend the apt mostly to a couple or a couple with children.
In 5 people it was a little bit small and there was a lack of privacy, but as we were 5 good friends it was ok.
The kitchen was fully equipped and some facilities (sugar, coffee, etc.) were provided. Also some soaps and body cream were provided in the bathrooms, which was much appreciated.
We had a bad experience one night with ants, kind of invasion on the upper bedroom, the one near the terrace. The ants were also in the bed and it was really unpleasant. It was a bad inconvenience but I guess that no-one could be blamed.
Air-conditioning or one more fan - a ceiling one would be the best - would make Lodovica's house perfect!
In fact there was only one little fan for 5 people and at night it was very hot.
I must say that we were her first guests so probably she still had to improve some little things!
Overall we had a good stay and we really loved Symi and Chorio area!

Families with Young Children,

The house, though a tad on the smallish side, is absolutely charming, and for a foursome, quite comfortable. It doesn't lack any - or nearly any - creature's comfort, bars of soap in the bathrooms included. Were one overfault-finding, perhaps a dash of air-conditioning in the bedrooms, sometimes at night, wouldn't be superflous. Furniture is new and elegant, in a quiet and understated way, that speaks highly of taste and painstaking consideration of hospitality. No flashy gadgets or artsy effects for "nouveau russians" with big boats, here. Every detail, from the colours of the walls to the fabrics of the sofas, from the bath towels to bed linen, was thoughtfully, better, lovingly chosen by the landlady, very nice and kind (on arrival we even found bottles of chilled water in the fridge!). The patio, enclosed by colourful walls and flaming bouganville, and sheltered by a great canopy from the fierceness of the sun, is ideal for a lavish breakfast, or a fresh greek salad. The little terrace, then, in the evening, after the day at the beach, caressed and lulled by small talk and a gentle breeze (but meltemi, mind you!), and sipping a drop, may be two of chilled white wine, well, could even be regarded as one of the utmost delights. All fine and dandy, then?
Now, perhaps some words could be spent about Choriò, the upper village, where the house is located.
Choriò, even though it offers fantastic sights (of Turkey as well), and has a better climate than the harbour's, though it is fairly apart from the great unwashed, who daily debark from the humongous excursion boats, and it actually is the place of restaurants for people in the know, well, is definitely "no country for old men", nor for weakish either. Choriò is within spitting distance from the sun and the moon, or so one might think whilst fighting one's way up the steep fligt of stairs - 370 or 380 steps -, which connects the village with the rest of the world.
Natives and exhausted people use also taxis - never there when needed, particularly at night -, and a sort of shuttle; one every hour - never on the dot -, crowded and smelly…, all in all, better the steps, demanding though that may be.
Ond the other hand, strong-legged (and strong-willed) individuals, while pausing for breath and looking, will command a gorgeous vista, one of the best of Greece, and perhaps will be privy to what the french poet meant - "la mer, le mer, toujours recommoncée!" - in his singing a different, but identical sea.
Situated on the top of the village, it overlooks the main square with its typical coffe shops and taveras . Below the ancient 'castrum', and next to the Symi Museum.
It is situated 5 min walking from the harbour reacheble through the beautiful step called 'Kali-Strata' where the most important old houses of the island has been build in the 19th century. The beaches, among the most beautiful of Greece, are reacheble by taxi boats leaving every 30 min from the port
