Private Pool Bar in Paradise with Panoramic Caribbean View!

My husband and I spent three nights here in January and we absolutely loved it! The casita is perfectly sized for a couple and is beautifully decorated. The kitchenette includes brand new appliances and kitchenware (the casita itself is very new- I think we were only the third guests), and has sweet extra details like local spices. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is great- very large with excellent water pressure. The pool-side bar is beautifully constructed and provided a perfect place for us to sit and eat breakfast every morning, enjoying the breathtaking views. The beach chairs and cooler are stored there as well; we were very grateful to be able to use them. The pool is small but very clean and just right for a short dip to cool off, and the deck chairs next to the pool are so comfortable- we got a lot of use out of them reading, napping, and stargazing at night. Several of the outdoor lights and water features, including the pool, are solar-powered; we definitely appreciated the green efforts. Barbara and Kris were wonderful hosts- available if we needed them but not at all intrusive; we had lots of privacy. They do have three dogs that sometimes run around the property but they're very sweet and weren't a problem for us at all.

I highly recommend staying here! The first place we stayed in Vieques was located near the water and while it was great hearing the sound of the waves at night, you really can't beat the incredible views the casita offers. It's located very near the wildlife refuge so we were just a few minutes from our favorite beaches (although honestly, Vieques is so small you're never very far from anything). We can't wait to go back!

As first-time visitors to Vieques, we weren't exactly certain what to expect and took a chance on a cottage rental. So glad we decided to visit the island, and our expectations were exceeded at Los Chivos.

Barbara and Chris are wonderful people and they have designed and built a private cottage that is absolutely perfect for a relaxing getaway. The cottage had everything we needed; a comfortable bed, stocked kitchen, great shower and your choice of either air conditioning or ceiling fan with lots of windows. The view from the property is incredible and we really enjoyed starting each day with breakfast at the covered pool bar area watching the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea.

Location is prime for exploration; just a quick drive to Isabel, Esparanza and most importantly the best beaches (in our humble opinion) on the south side of island. It was very much appreciated to have access to beach towels, beach bag and snorkel equipment with our cottage rental.

Highly recommended and a special thanks again to Barbara and Chris for making our visit special! Please give the dogs a belly rub and treat from their friends in Georgia. :-)

We had a fantastic time here! It's an extremely convenient location as it's about as close to the entrance to the refuge (where all the best beaches are located) as you can get. The property itself is beautiful, landscaped with various types of trees and plants. The cottage for rent sits a few hundred feet from the couple's home, and in between the two is the pool area, which is used exclusively by the renters. You can park your rental car right by the cottage, which is brand new and has everything you could need. In addition to all the cooking essentials, they have stocked it with a French Press coffee maker, local spices, and other little delights. The shower has great pressure and the bed was very comfortable. AC and ceiling fan work great, and depending on your heat threshold you could get away with sleeping with either. It's evident that Barbera and Kris truly want the stay to be comfortable and convenient, because they didn't skimp on things like cooking supplies or the beautiful bedspread and furniture, and a great AC.

The architectural design of the pool bar is beautiful, and it makes for a great place to hang out and watch the sunset after a long day at the beach and before going out to dinner, or grilling right there by the pool. The pool is definitely small (more like a wading pool) but that wasn't a problem for us because we spent all our time at the beach. It is definitely enough to rinse off and enjoy a corona and the view, or cool off if you're lying out there during the day. There are two patio chairs with ottomans, a brand new clean grill, and a large bar with stools so you can eat your breakfast or dinner outside while looking at the view, which we did every morning. One other thing I loved about this place: they built it with many green initiatives. I'm sure there are many more, but some examples: solar powered lights and a solar powered pool.

Barbera and Kris were very accommodating and provided plenty of beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear, and other perks at no cost. The property itself is very private from the main roads and all you can hear at night are sounds of the frogs in the surrounding forest. It is a beautiful and peaceful retreat. It comes highly recommended from a couple who's been to Vieques three times now! Enjoy.
