Volcano Estate Rental Photos and Description

Volcano Rainforest Lodge -Private Craftsman Estate ; Rent suite or entire lodge

The Volcano Rainforest Lodge is a luxury craftsman estate in an ancient forest.

We are located only a few minutes from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park main entrance near Kilauea summit and the friendly artists community of Volcano Village. Volcano Rain Forest Lodge is located in a secluded, private, 3-acre forest. Each room is designed to view the forest and lava outcroppings.

The lodge was designed with privacy in mind. No other guests will be on the property during your visit.

The lodge is a 2,300 square foot, one level, luxury home with three bedroom/bathroom suites, gourmet kitchen, living room with lava rock fireplace, 16' x 20' dining room, and over 1,400 square feet of covered, outside living area (lanai).

The Lodge has Mango flooring, and door/window trim. Mango is also used in the bathroom cabinets and mirror frames. The doors are solid core knotty Alder. The ceilings are beautiful Canadian Pine with Red Western Cedar beams from Oregon. Counter tops in the Lodge are granite. Bathroom walls and floors are gauged Quartzite.

This beautiful Lodge provides all the elements to make your vacation on the Big Island a memorable experience.

The Lodge is like a breath of fresh air amidst the beautiful forest of Ohias and Hapu'u tree ferns; a quiet place to relax and unwind, while being located close to the various adventures in the area.

The Lodge is available for weddings, parties, and corporate events. Please do not confuse our property with Volcano Rainforest Retreat.

Rent a suite for $145-$175/night or the entire lodge and 3 acre estate for $245-$345/night (three suites, kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry room, lanais, hot tub). Each suite has a coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator, private lanai and exterior door.

About Rob Owens

I have over eleven years experience in the Hawaiian vacation rental business. I wanted guests to experience luxury and privacy in a Hawaiian/Craftsman home, while being able to view and enjoy ancient forests and lava features from every room and private lanais. I built this home to last for generations, with only high quality construction materials being used. The Volcano Rainforest Lodge took years to complete because great efforts were made to spare the forest and lava features. No bulldozer ever touched the lot with the utmost effort being made to protect the many endangered trees and plants on the grounds. The utilities were placed underground to maximize the views from The Lodge.

Rob Owens purchased this estate in 2012

Why Rob Owens chose Volcano

This property was chosen because of its location. While only minutes away from the national park, Volcano Village, and the golf course, the home site has a remote, rural feeling for those who desire privacy and quiet. The property is within Hawaiian Orchid Island Estates. The square, three acre lot allows for an extensive hiking trail network exclusive to our guests. The property has numerous lava outcroppings to explore as well as 200-year-old Ohia trees, rare native plants, and 20' Hawaiian Hapu'u tree ferns.

What makes this estate unique

The Lodge has over 1,400 square feet of covered, outside living area. Comfortable patio furniture surrounds the house for guests to enjoy the forest in every direction. After a day in the park guests may enjoy a relaxing rest in the hot tub while viewing the beautiful fern forest and stunning night skies. All of the lava excavated during construction was used in the foundation of the home, fireplace, and retaining walls. Exotic woods add to the beauty and elegance of The Lodge. A giant Mango tree which once blocked the highway is now our floor and trim. Come and enjoy this beautiful Hawaiian Craftsman home.

**New** Discounts for Golfing and equipment rental at Volcano Country Club and Golf Course.

Wonderful property in the Rain Forest

  • 5 of 5

Recent 2 night stay at the Rain Forest Lodge exceeded my expectations. The setting is unlike any other I have ever experienced--so peaceful in the forest. The location is only a few miles from the highway but feels very private and remote. As I drove up the driveway I was in awe of the flora of the rain forest. The house is beautiful, including a volcano rock fireplace and dining room table which is custom made. The hostess greeted us and made us feel right at home. Everything you need and more is provided. The refrigerator is stocked and ready for your use---all the essentials and more--the banana bread is heavenly too. Hot tub under the stars was amazing. Close to Volcano National park making it easy to go hiking during the day and return at night to see the glow of the Volcano. These owners have now set the bar so high I doubt I will ever find a nicer place to stay than the Rain Forest Lodge.

Perfect Spot For Volcano Stay

  • 5 of 5

If you want to spend a few days near Volcano National Park, you couldn't find a nicer spot. Beautifully appointed, comfortable and private. We stayed with our extended family of 8 very comfortably. The rain forest vibe was very relaxing. We were visited from time to time by various exotic birds. The park is 5 minutes away, so you can easily make multiple visits each day and also take in some relaxation back at the house.

Absolutely beautiful !!! A hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

Words seem inadequate to describe the loveliness of this home. The architectural details are truly amazing. It was very spacious and impeccably well maintained. It was a delightful experience and we fell in love with the place, including the gorgeous wood used throughout the home. The amenities including the fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms were greatly appreciated. The freshly baked bread by Sharon was scrumptious. We were there for 8 wonderful days following our daughter's wedding on the Kona side. It was difficult to leave such a beautiful well cared for home and such a relaxing enjoyable time. We really enjoyed dinners at the Volcano House and the Kilauea Lodge. We will definitely return to create more memories and enjoy this home.

Wonderful Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

If you stay at this Rainforest Volcano Lodge, you will wish your own home is as nice. The landscaping is natural yet enchanting, the lodge itself was built with attention to detail, is spacious, and has all the amenities you could wish. Every room is fantastic, with picture views of the rainforest out of every window. The lodge caretaker greeted us when we arrived, and was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Our vacation was very enjoyable thanks to this wonderful lodge.

Incredible lodge in the rainforest

  • 5 of 5

This lodge was unbelievable. Everything as shown on the website is spot-on accurate. Our family spent a weekend here to enjoy the rainforest, Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. Privacy is unrivaled. Sharon greeted us at the lodge then left us knowing that any needs were a phone call and five minutes away. One could easily visualize waking up to a native Hawaiian warrior looking in the window ... the lodge is literally plunked into a 3 acre plot in the middle of the rainforest. We used this as a central point to visit sites up to Rainbow Falls, Hilo and the farmers market, and Puna to the east and north and then the amazing Volcanoes National Park. Hurricane Iselle did a number on the Puna district, particularly the tide pools we had hoped to visit but overall an abundance of sites to see. At the lodge, a morning cup of coffee, breakfast or reading a book on the outside lanai was so relaxing. A glass of wine in the hot tub provided a perfect ending to the day. You will not be disappointed. The size of this easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children. Any less than 6 (3 couples) and the lodge might be too big unless you really like to stretch out! The construction and materials used were beautiful ... from the hardwood floors to the stone showers and bathrooms along with the abundance of glass letting the sun and the rainforest in! Would definitely stay here again.

Why keep looking for Paradise when you've already found it!

  • 5 of 5

Let me make this simple. You would be a fool to continue looking at any other properties when this home is awaiting you. This house was an unbelievable experience. The owners have thoughtfully built an extraordinary home with incredible architectural details that have to be seen to appreciate. From the moment you enter off the road, up to the winding driveway that reaches their home, you are instantly aware that you have stumbled upon a remote paradise stuck in the rain forest. Don't fear, all the amenities await you. First, the owner's mother, Sharon, will receive you with much warmth and make you feel incredibly welcomed. She will show you the home and what it has to offer and then disappear to allow you to enjoy your stay (unless you need her in which she is just a phone call away) but not before leaving freshly made banana bread behind along with plenty of fixings for breakfast.

The architecture is amazing with special details given to their choice of woods used throughout the home, to the furniture chosen, fully stocked and modern kitchen and a backyard that is basically your own private rain forest. Plenty more amenities including the Hot Tub (nice after hiking the volcanic park) BBQ, etc that are too many to share. But the main reason to come to this house is to enjoy the lesser traveled part of the Big Island.

Hilo is nice and Kona has great beaches, etc, but here near the Volcanic National Park, you get to share a piece of Hawaii that most tourists only allow a day's worth of sightseeing. This is truly a magical place on all of the Islands. I was concerned that my teenage triplets would quickly become bored staying here for 3 nights since there is no beach close by. In the end, they were complaining that I hadn't booked more time at this home to explore the area some more. Next time (and there will definitely be a next time) we will extend our stay so we can enjoy this property a little longer.
