On the fifth floor of the Kona Alii complex, you will find this delightful condo, with a full new kitchen, decorated island style with rattan furniture. It will offer you all the conveniences from home including a flat-screen TV with DVD and a stereo. A one bedroom, two bathroom condo that will accommodate a couple, or a family of three or four. The unit is in a secure building that features an elevator, a large swimming pool, a sun deck and a BBQ area. Right out the door, you can soak up the amusement of being in the heart of Kona. The Kona Alii is just steps away from popular and our favorite restaurants like Bubba Gump, Huggo's, the Lava Java and Humpy's AleHouse. For those who like to shop locally, the Farmers Market is just a two minute walk away. Come and stay at Kona's Delight and you will soon find out why it got its name!

About Imke Maring, owner.

We are a family of three (Imke, Udo and our daughter of 13: Sanne) who reside in Alaska. Hawaii is our favorite and after 15 years of traveling back and forth to warm up during our long winter, it was time to find our own piece of the Hawaiian tropics. In December 2012 we became owners of Kona Alii, #508.

Great Condo

We stayed here 16 wonderful days our second time. The unit has a new kitchen which is very nice although I must admit we only have breakfast at the condo. There are to many wonderful places to eat within easy walking distance for our other meals. If you like to walk this is the best location in Kona.

Great Location

ThE condo was an ideal setting for our ten day trip. Located next to the Coconut Grove Shopping area and across Alii Street from the ocean. We spent each night of our stay sitting on the front steps watching the sunset before walking a short distance to dinner. Island Lava Java is next door, but there are also a couple of other gems nearby, i.e. The Island Grill, Humpy's, Laverne's Sports Bar, Bongo Ben's, The Ocean Side Grill, a Pizza and Bakery behind the Ocean Side Grill (which has gluten free pizza) and other gluten free bakery items. You will also find a Subway and Tropical Fruit and Smoothie spot all within an incredibly short walk. The amenities in the condo were perfect for us with a full kitchen, washer and dryer and a lovely lanai overlooking the pool. Although, there is no air conditioning in the unit there is a very nice breeze with the windows open. The open windows do let in the noise from the nearby restaurant in the evening, but for the most part this quiets down by 10:30pm or so. The description of the condo was right on and we would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to our family or friends.

Great condo in the heart of Kona.

My husband and I have been to Kona before, twice staying at the Royal Kona hotel, and once in a condo near Walmart. This unit is in a building right on Alii Drive. Our condo was on the fifth floor overlooking the pool and had a partial ocean view. Most evenings we sat out front the buildings steps and watched the sun set. The condo Murphy bed was great, as was the second shower and commode, and the full size washer and dryer. It was almost like having a two bedroom condo. The compact kitchen had pretty much everything we needed; we only ate out twice. There was covered parking for our rental care, but we walked everywhere around Kona. There was a great gym about 15 minutes walking distance away that we used several times, a couple nearby grocery stores, and the open market on Alii Drive in Kona. Costco was a 10 minute drive; Walmart and Safeway was about 5 minutes away. The condo could be a little noisy a night; from the bedroom, you could hear the restaurant next door washing dishes and sometimes there were loud tourists stumbling around Alii Drive in the wee hours of the night, but we wouldn't hesitate to book this condo again.

Kona Delight

We stayed for 2 weeks and will be back again. We found the listing to be exactly as the photos show. The property was clean and we'll maintained. The property is downtown so you do have the noise of the city to deal with, but for us it was not an issue. The owner was very helpful with our questions and the booking process. We have stayed in Kona many times and enjoy being close to all of the restaurants and attractions. We love to be able to hear the ocean at night. The pool is great and was never crowded. This unit has a screen door which most do not, to let in the ocean breeze. The only issue we had was with the screen door sticking when trying to open and shut it. So it makes a lot of noise and we go in and out early and we were concerned about waking our next door guests. Other than that a great place to enjoy Kona.

We are aware of the screen door making noise sometimes, so that tells me it must be time for some lubrication again. We will get that taken care of ASAP. Great to see you come back in 2015!

Enjoyed our stay

The condo's location can't be beat for easy access to dining and shopping in Kailua-Kona. Just step outside and have your pick of options. The condo itself was clean and we'll appointed, laid out perfectly for my husband and me to share. Everything we needed was here, and we were surprised and delighted to find bicycles for our use in going up and down the coast for excursions and exercise. We made good use of the washer and dryer all week long! Furnishings were comfortable and good looking. My only downside was the lack of A/C. The weather during our visit was very rainy and humid and there was no breeze through the condo, even with all ceiling fans going. We were very uncomfortable and found it hard to sleep at night due to the heavy, still, humid air. Perhaps we hit a bad stretch of weather with all the rain, and also I recognize that it is the tropics and humidity is to be expected, but it did impact our enjoyment of the time spent in Kona. I guess I'm a wimp and am not cut out for life in the tropics! Otherwise, though, the condo was excellent and I would highly recommend it. One note: We did not rent a car while we were there, but I think that's a mistake. We had scheduled two tours that included transportation around the island, but one got cancelled due to bad weather on Mauna Kea, and that left us with no way to explore on our own. I felt a little cabin feverish after three consecutive days in town without a car. The bikes definitely helped, and so we were grateful to have those.
