Machiasport House Rental Photos and Description
4 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bathroom On The Ocean
Our traditional Maine seaside cape house is on 6 Acres at the end of a peninsula overlooking the mouth of the Machias River on one side and Machias Bay on the other side. Originally built in 1832 as the house of Captain Benjamin Clark, this home has been expanded and fully updated and renovated over the years to provide now over 4000 sq. ft of comfortable living space. A retreat for easy living, the space is a perfect mix of tradition, charm and comfort.
This is the second year that we have rented the house with and so we have a few reviews to share with you. The reviews assure you that this is a wonderful place to stay and you will want to return year after year.
Capturing 360 degrees of lovely views, if you look east and west , you will enjoy colorful sunrises over Machias Bay and fabulous sunsets over the river. During the day you can relax on the large deck overlooking the fields to the sea, walk the labyrinth spirit path on the point, or contemplate life while sitting on the teak bench under the shade of our massive maple tree. If you watch carefully you will see eagles and blue heron fly north along the shore and field edge every morning and see them return in the afternoon. In the yard you may enjoy croquet on the lawn, play shuffle board, or simply enjoy the gorgeous gardens and water view on three sides of the house.
Enjoy this large home featuring magnificent detail in its 'East Room', where you can listen to music, watch TV, play games or simply enjoy the spanning Ocean view before you. Upstairs over the East Room you will find the spacious fully skylit Master Bedroom with its own skylit bathroom. Watch the sunrise in the morning from your bed and dream under millions of stars at night as you look up and see the Milky Way. When was the last time you could see that in all its glory without any light pollution? Then wake up and see the romance of lobster boats and clammers on distant shores and plan on having some for your dinner.
Let your day unfold with breakfast in the Morning Room, the formal dining room, or on the deck. During the day or evening entertain yourselves or your guests with a game of pool on the professional sized pool table. Or sit quietly and write or paint and contemplate the beauty of the unspoiled old-world coast of Maine. The view has not changed much since the early 1800's. If you like to feast on a delicious spread of local organic food, move into the formal Dining Room where the large table easily seats 10 people. The large custom built kitchen is fully geared to create any type of gourmet meal. Equipped with lobster pots to boil your lobster or steam your clams in a variety of sizes as well as an espresso maker; it’s a complete gourmet kitchen for you to enjoy.

My wife Ann and I and our family cherish this house and its beautiful surroundings. We have lived here full time for a number of years, but currently visit Machiasport in the 'off season'.
Our family has enjoyed this house and its unique location for many years. The view is unmatched. It's located at the end of the road so it is very quiet with a spectacular view from any room and all the best features in our gourmet kitchen very comfortable living and playing areas. .
The house is large, giving you lots of room. Tastefully decorated with a gourmet kitchen and two dining areas, a stunning garden and deck with a 180 degree view it has all the modern comforts, but gives you plenty of tradition and history. The ocean breezes keep the house cool and fresh providing a reprieve from the hot summers the East Coast has coped with the last number of years. Walk on our labyrinth
