GRAND TRADITIONAL TOWN HOUSE, GREAT CHILL HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
Palazzo Margherita is different to most medeteranean rentals, not a modern, holiday villa, but a very grand, traditional town house, the poshest in the village by far.

On arrival, the house really lived up to its picture on the website. Entering, the house was very spacious, with high ceilings everywhere, adding to the overall feeling of airiness. With 4 large bedrooms & two bathrooms (one downstairs) this was the perfect house for a large group, or a couple of families, the pics on the website did not do it justice. The house was clean, in a very good state of repair & decor throughout.

Whilst the bedrooms were fairly sparsely furnished, as you would expect in a rental property, the living rooms had numerous more personal touches, magazines, maps, CD player & TV with DVD player, even a selection of CD’s & DVD’s for the occasional rainy day. The kitchen continued this theme being very well equipped, with every cooking vessel & utensil imaginable, the cupboards were lightly stocked with dry foodstuffs, herbs & spices, even homemade marmalade was found in the fridge ! Also, for the adventurous, the wood fired pizza oven worked a treat.
Overall, this house felt very homely, as if you were guests in the owner’s home who had just left, as opposed to a standard holiday let, bare & sole less.

Outside, the courtyard at the rear was a wonderful area to chill out, shaded by lemon & orange trees, with a large traditional barbeque & even an outside shower. For the sun worshippers, there was also a 1st floor sun terrace, accessible from the courtyard & also from one of the bedrooms.
Local amenities - There was a small supermarket within 50 yards for all daily needs & a bakery with fresh bread every day, just beyond (not easy to find), there was also a restaurant & pizzeria just across the street & several other bars / restaurants in the village. Locally, Riccardo’s on the main street of Magomadas was a traditional restaurant specialising in fresh seafood, highly recommended.

We found the local beaches were good & clean at both Bosa Marina & Porto Alabe. Also Bosa was a good sized local town only 10 minutes away, with plenty of choice in larger supermarkets, bars & restaurants. A bit further afield wass Santa Caterina with a lovely restaurant (La Scogliera) at the back of the beach, overlooking the bay, a wonderful spot, the drive down the coast is great too.
Overall, a brilliant house to use as a chill out holiday base. Highly recommende

The house is beautiful in the unspoilt village of Tresnuraghes and is very clean and spacious. With a large bathroom on the first floor and shower, toilet/utility room on the ground floor it is very comfortable. We sat each morning in the large, well appointed kitchen for breakfast of local produce and fresh bread from the local baker (to die for), The large courtyard to the rear of the house is a nice place to relax in with shade from the orange trees planted there or in the lounge/dining room with comfortable seating to read quietly or watch one of the many videos supplied as well as a numerous amount of games. The island itself is beautiful with lots of breathtaking views. There is so much to see. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house after the hectic life of living and working in England. We shall definitely be booking to go again and have recommended the holiday to friends and family. Well done to the owners for providing such a beautiful venue for a holiday!!

PALAZZO MARGHERITA - JUST WONDERFUL

  • 5 of 5
Firstly, what can we say about the house? We loved it! The first thing that strikes you when you first walk in is the impressive entrance hall and large stare case. The traditionally styled kitchen is beautiful and has all the mod cons you need for your stay. The large dining / living room is a great place for the whole family to eat together if you don't want to stay in the kitchen to eat. Each of the four bedrooms has its own style, we stayed in the 'oak room', as I called it, which has some beautiful heavy dark oak furniture in it. Although this bedroom is on the front side of the house overlooking the road and a town square I can say that we didn't really hear any noise, especially after bed time. Each of the bedrooms are on the large side and have wooden shutters over the windows that you can close to keep the room almost completely blacked out, which is great, they also help keep the rooms cool. During our stay the outside temperature was over 30 Celsius but the house stayed nice and cool the whole time, but didn't get cold either!

There is an upstairs and down stairs loo and shower which is ideal for a family or if you are going with friends like we did. Outside the back of the house is a charming courtyard with an orange tree and lemon tree, at the right time of year I could imagine picking oranges to make fresh orange juice each morning :-) There is a BBQ and plenty of patio furniture and the trees offer some nice shade from the mid day sun if you are staying around the house, but if you fancy the full blast of the sun then there is a sun terrace to cook yourself on!

The village where the house is located is really quite quaint, there is a church right next to the house, the occasional church bells really add to the charm of the place. The local village shop is just around the corner from the house and sells all the essentials, the lady in the shop speaks pretty good English too and was quite helpful. There is also a small local bakery in the town, if you can find it, it's only a couple of minutes from the house and having fresh bread each morning was just great. There are a number of restaurants in the village but the pizzeria just opposite the house is fabulous and they have more pizzas on the menu then I have ever seen before, you may need your Italian phrase books to be sure what you are ordering.
The closest large town is Bosa which is about a 15 minute drive away down to the coast. Bosa itself is a very picturesque town with s

GREAT LOCATION AND ARCHITECTURE

  • 4 of 5
This is a beautiful, old house in a very well located village near the coast - close to the beach (7 minutes by car) yet set away in hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and grazing sheep. The town itself is low-key and people are friendly, accommodating and generous. Bosa is nearby and has good markets, butchers and fishmongers, etc.

The house itself is straightforward and TRULY GRAND for a village house. It has good bones. All rooms have tall ceilings, beautiful tile floors and seemingly original details and fixtures. There are four large bedrooms all with comfortable beds. The spacious courtyard is like another room where one can sit quietly under the trees, cook and eat.

The couple who take care of the house are nice and supportive: they live nearby and are there if you want them to be and available to answer any questions and/or find supplies yet not overly present if you do not require that.

A couple things we wish we’d known about the house:

1. There is no view.
2. The house is not especially quiet. It is right next to the largest church in town and bells ring every day, every quarter of an hour, from 6 – 10. Also, the street in front of the house is one of the main thoroughfares for cars passing through town and is quite busy and loud most mornings with trucks, cars and motorinos. It is also fairly busy throughout the rest of the day through early evening.
3. There were many personal and stale kitchen items in the house when we arrived – seemingly of the owners and, possibly, others who had stayed at the house before. Many drawers, shelves and cabinets were difficult to use and clean because of this. We managed in our own way but I would speak to the owners before renting to make sure bathroom and bureau drawers and kitchen cabinets and shelving were clear and renter ready when you occupied. Also, you may want to make sure that rooms do not have extraneous furniture and equipment in them - like playpens - if you do not require these.
4. The fireplace in the kitchen: we cleaned out the chimney and used it which made our stay wonderful and that room, especially, magical to be in. It is unclear whether the owners’ want that fireplace to be used – I would check this out if this is important to you. The small pizza oven works great.

Owner's Response: We are always happy to read that people have enjoyed staying in our house. It is indeed a very substantial, elegant house, right at the heart of the village and centre of the community. As such the front of the house looks over Vie San Giorgio and the rear windows overlook the pretty courtyard with its orange and lemon trees.
We were surprised that the road caused any disturbance as the house is on a very quiet road in the village with maybe as few as 8 or 10 vehicles per hour, mainly small cars, passing by. The house is set a little way back from the road and has very thick walls keeping whatever noise there is to a minimum. No previous renters have mentioned that this has ever been a nuisance.
As for the 'personal items - we have taken a lot of time and care making our house a welcoming place, the vast majority of items are not personal at all but paintings and ornaments that we would have hoped gives anyone that rents the sense that, for the duration of their stay, it is their home and not just a blank holiday villa. The house is very spacious and has loads of storage space, especially in each bedroom, so the couple of cupboards that contain 'stuff' really don't infringe on the abundance of useable space but of course we are always available to answer any concerns both before, during and after your stay.
The church, just down the street, is a really fine example of Sardinian church architecture and is truly magnificent inside, well worth a look.
The fireplace in the kitchen has an electric fire standing in it. The chimney was blocked with a fitted board and is not really intended for a live fire. However, the pizza oven makes great pizzas.
This party was made up of three American people. The 'travel cot' had been left in the fourth bedroom ready for the next occupants. I had asked the cleaners to leave the cot out and thought it safe to do so as there were only three people staying.
Finally, we would like to say that we are very proud of what we offer when we rent our house to clients. The house is peaceful and very spacious and is truly special. As I said earlier we are always available to answer any concerns both before, during and after your stay.

Thank You

PALAZZO MARGHERITA - BEAUTIFUL TOWN HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
The Palazzo Margherita was a lovely traditional town house, it is ideal for families or couples that want to see the traditional side of Sardinia. We went as a family of 5 (aging from 69yrs to 6yrs) and this holiday suited everyone. It is recommended that you hire a car as there are lovely villages and nearby scenery to explore. The property itself is very spacious and grand and has all the home comforts you need. It is set in the heart of the little village of Tresnurgaghes. There are lovely beaches within a short distance from the house and a few minutes down the road is the town of Bosa which also has fantastic beaches, great for swimming, snorkelling and of course sunbathing, there are places to eat along the beach so you can spend all day without the worry of food. The town of Bosa has some great traditional souvenir shops and some modern stylish clothes and jewellery shops. I would not hesitate in recommending this holiday house for a totally relaxing and very enjoyable holiday for all the family.

TRAUMHAUS

  • 5 of 5

Tresnuraghes is a typical Sardinian village, 10 mins from the historic town of Bosa. It has shops pharmacy bank bars pizzerias and nearby restaurants. It is set in a very picturesque area suitable for walking and observing wildlife and has views of the sea. Bosa is set on the banks of the river Temo. The historical centre of the town slopes up from the river and is topped by Malaspina Castle, a walk through the cobbled streets up to the castle is well worth the effort. Bosa has lots of pavement bars cafes and restaurants as well as clothes, jewellery and shoe shops displaying fine Italian fashions. There are also churches, museums and a cathedral, the high narrow streets of the old Italian town give a warm romantic feel. On the road back to Tresnuraghes is the seaside resort of Bosa Marina the main attraction being a long wide strip of gently shelving sandy beach leading to crystal clear water. Here there is a variety of beach bars and restaurants and facilities for many water sports.
