The cottages have been created round the courtyard of the beautiful 19th Century red sandstone steading which has recently undergone a total renovation programme. Each cottage has been rebuilt to the highest standards of convenience and comfort while retaining the character and features of the old buildings. In addition to the landscaped courtyard with its large communal games room, each cottage has access to an outdoor patio with views out over the woods and fields.

Each cottage is furnished and equipped to the highest standard with a large living area and wooden floors, a modern fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and a living area with comfortable sofa beds and armchairs. All windows are double glazed with full length curtains or blinds and all are equipped with Sky TV, DVD/CD player and wifi. Each unit has a separate central heating system with ample supplies of hot water for the luxuriously fitted bathrooms and showers. There is a shared laundry and drying room with facilities for ironing.

Oak cottage sleeps 4-6 A two bedroom cottage on two floors facing South and West. Downstairs is a living area with a long modern kitchen which has a round dining table and a glazed door leading to a round walled private patio. The living area has stunning views across the fields and is fully furnished with a leather sofa-bed and comfortable armchairs. There is a separate downstairs cloakroom with WC and basin. The beautiful wood stairs leads to two bedrooms on the fully carpeted first floor. The master bedroom with a king-size bed has a long window facing West with outstanding views. It has its own wash basin, hanging cupboard and a dressing table. The second bedroom with twin beds has ample cupboard space, a dressing table and an antique writing desk. Between the bedrooms is a large bathroom with basin, bath with shower unit and a full length hot towel rail, and WC. Oak cottage is light, airy and beautifully proportioned and offers visitors luxury with serene peace and quiet

Andrew and Marguerite Dewar Durie bought this estate when Andrew moved to Scotland to run a large Whisky Company based in Dumbarton . His Family originally came from Fife and Andrew is the Chief of the Duries. He is also a member of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs.

If you are interested to trace back your ancestry, this is where you should base yourself.

Marguerite is Austrian and is an Interior Designer. She has planned and designed the beautiful cottages.

Finnich Malise Estate had been little cared for for many years and presented a major and exciting challenge to us when we bought it. First priority was to repair and re-decorate the beautiful Georgian house and then to start recovering the parkland with its 200 year old trees. A separate project was to completely re build the derelict 19th century Steading buildings and convert them into 4 holiday cottages.

The projects continue with the recent planting of 9 ha of mixed Scottish woodland.

What makes this cottage unique

The uniqueness of the Finnich Malise estate which was evident to us when we first saw it, was its location. Close enough to Glasgow and Stirling but positioned in its own 200 acres of grounds to give total peace and tranquillity, with stunning views to the western North over the National Park and with easy access to Loch Lomond , 5 miles away.

Calm, idylic and restful

I think the easiest thing to say about finnich cottage is would we ever go back.

Well the answer is simply we would not hesitate to return to finnich cottages as it was so lovely. The cottages are placed in a suburb area that is quite and restful and way from the noise of tourist areas, however a 15 minute drive puts you in a lively area of pubs and cafés.

Wonderful days in Finnich Malise

We enjoyed a wonderful time in the "Oak" cottage. The rooms are spacious and meet the requiremenst even of demanding guests. Expect high standards ! The tranquility is not to be beaten and the views from the cottage into the countryside are breathtaking. The service provided is 100%. We have already told friends to come here when they look for a perfect holiday flat in Scotland.

Très bel endroit pour visiter le parc naturel des Trossachs, le Loch Lomond, Glasgow et les environs.
Nous avons été très bien reçus par Marguerite et nous sommes enchantés du séjour dans ce joli cottage en pleine nature.
Le Sycamore cottage est parfaitement équipé pour accueillir un couple et un bébé. Il y a d'autres cottages plus grands pour les familles nombreuses. Nous recommandons vivement ce lieu!
