Stunning Country Retreat

When we finally made the decision to buy a country home, we looked in Litchfield County, Upstate New York and the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Every place we saw we compared to Cornwall and ultimately realized that Cornwall had everything that we wanted. We love the bucolic setting, the rolling hills, farms and farm stands, and generally being in a place that feels comfortable and enduring.

Once we became solely focused on Cornwall we looked at everything that was for sale. We knew that we wanted something with privacy and light. When we walked into the house we knew it was the place for us. The living room with its cathedral ceiling, floor to ceiling stone fireplace and walls of glass sold us on the house. It is a wonderful spot to sit and relax and watch the seasons. There is nothing like the living room while it is snowing outside and fire roaring in the fireplace. The screened porch is also an ideal place to sit on a summer night and listen to the frogs in the pond and the cicadas.

One of our biggest concerns about spending time in Connecticut was that we ultimately get bored with the country. Happily, to our surprise, we actually found that we did more in Connecticut than we ever did at the beach - biking, hiking, beaches, restaurants, Tanglewood, shopping, antiques, etc. All without the crowds and traffic.
