Nestled in a quiet residential boating community across from prestigious waterfront homes, you'll come across the Lemon Cottage. It's the perfect place to stay to enjoy all that Anna Maria Island has to offer. Lemon Cottage is a short stroll from the white sandy beaches and stunning sunsets of the Gulf coast. Centrally located just over the Manatee Bridge, the beach house is close to shopping, restaurants and the Manatee Public Beach and Beach Cafe.
With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, Lemon Cottage accommodates 4 to 6 people comfortably. The newly renovated open concept cottage is fully equipped with all the amenities you would expect. The property has a large covered lanai, tropical landscaping including mature pink grapefruit, orange, mango and coconut trees and a key lime bush surrounded by lush palms and a heated plunge pool.
The updated master bedroom features a king size bed topped with premium soft 500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. The second bedroom has a new versatile twin over queen bunk bed and an ensuite bathroom. To ensure a restful night, we've equipped both bedrooms with new, quality mattresses. You also have a choice of one of two new queen sofa beds - one in the living room and one in the Florida room.
The key feature of this property is the sizable outdoor living space. The large screened lanai has ample room for a comfy seating area, dining table for six and the heated plunge pool.
The house features recently updated furnishings, mattresses, bedding, with a recently updated interior, (remote venting skylights, granite counter tops, flat panel tv's etc.).
Our rates are based on a 7 day minimum Sat-Sat stay.
Chris, Steph and the girls are a family from the Toronto area in Canada. We've fallen in love with the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere on Anna Maria Island, and we think you will too.
Chris So purchased this cottage in 2012
Slide open the 12 foot patio doors to the covered lanai, then at the touch of a button, open two large Velux remote venting skylights in the vaulted ceiling and let in all that deliciously fresh island sea breeze. This house opens up to bring in volumes of that Florida sunshine, Gulf breezes and warmth that you traveled so for far to get.
From initial contact to check out, we want you to have the most positive experience possible. We've hand selected each individual item that went into the house for comfort, quality, and function. This means that you can relax in both comfort and style so that you get the most out of your stay with us.
All you need to do is unpack your clothes and grab some groceries because the So family has thought of everything. The pool area is quaint and cozy with plenty of room to entertain and take a dip. The house is laid out well and the kitchen is highly manageable. It caught us by surprise just how much room is available inside the house. The location is perfect with beach access just up the street and shopping just around the corner. We've rented vacation properties before but the So's are the best hosts we've ever encountered adding a personal touch to the whole experience which goes a long way. We had a great time and hated to leave but that's OK because we will return to enjoy the Lemon Cottage and the aMI area again. Highly recommended and I give it two thumbs up. Thanks again Chris and Stephanie for a wonderful experience. We just can't say anything negative about our stay and we must say, you really knocked it out of the park.
We stayed one week last year and two weeks this year. We really liked this home!! It had everything, including bikes!! It is a very "techy" home, and well appointed! Lemon is in a lovely neighborhood, close to the Publix, drug stores and a short drive to the shops in Anna Maria. We enjoyed going to several nature preserves, St. Armond circle shops, and last year we enjoyed the Ringling mansion tour and the Mote Labs facility in Longboat Key. Anna Maria Island is still "old Florida" and just low key and lovely!! Just bring your shorts, t-shirts and swim suit!!! Lemon Cottage will welcome you!!
This is our second year in a row staying in one of Chris's Anna Maria homes and we were not disappointed. The house was beautifully furnished and decorated and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The location was perfect, close to any part of the island we wanted to visit. We loved sitting in the gorgeous lanai every morning and taking afternoon dips in the pool after a day at the beach. It was also great to have the bikes to explore with. We can't wait to return to Anna Maria and will definitely contact Chris for accommodations when we do.
The lemon cottage was wonderful. Chris and his family have thought of everything. We loved the beach supplies and wagon. We had a great week on Anna Maria Island.
We cannot rave enough about our annual visits to The Lemon Cottage on Anna Maria Island. First of all, the "Cottage" is actually a full-fledged house, with ALL the amenities of a well-outfitted home. Clean and well-equipped with up-to-date appliances, a fully functional kitchen, a swimming pool on a comfortable lanai, a location close to a beach, several restaurants and a shopping center, this place is a real gem.
Holmes Beach, the beach closest to The Lemon Cottage, is one of three excellent beaches on the island, and the island itself is near activities and interesting locations that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. North of the island, accessible from the mainland, are Tampa and St. Petersburg and manatee viewing in between. South of Holmes Beach is St. Armand's Circle and Sarasota, the former a great little shopping and dining town, and the latter a city with attractions and museums, including the John Ringling Circus Museum, and Ringling and Art Museum.
During our most recent trip we visited the Kilwin's chocolate and ice cream shop in St. Armand's Circle and great places to eat near the cottage, such as Skinny's Hamburgers and the Beach Cafe, both a short walk from the cottage. Some days we took the two cottage bicycles and pedaled all over the island or to the Robinson Preserve over the causeway, walked the beachfront, and we sat on the beach parts of each day reading and watching several porpoises cruising up and down the coastline.
We never ran out of things to do or see, and we spent a great deal of time at The Lemon Cottage, swimming and relaxing at our home-away-from-home.
From the time we walked in the door, till we left,we felt cozy and at home.
The house is spotless, bright, and very inviting.
We did not want for anything, kitchen is fully equipped, plenty of towels, etc.
Washer and dryer also is a bonus.
My girlfriend loved the pool, and was in it every day.
We did not have a car for the week, but everything was within walking distance,5 minutes to the beach,10 minutes to grocery and drug stores.
Plus its a nice quiet location,we didn't hear any noise whatso ever.
Would definitely recommend this ideal home away from home.
We have visited AMI on several occasions, staying at guest cottages or small resorts. We discovered Lime & Lemon last year after booking at another local resort, and while down there, sent Chris an email. He was on island, and graciously offered to show us both cottages on a Saturday morning. We were instantly hooked! We've just returned after 2 weeks and everything was outstanding.
If you're looking to party-hearty and make a lot of noise, don't bother coming here. The neighbourhood is very quiet, and lends itself to relaxation, lounging around the pool, and enjoying a quiet coffee in the morning. As previous posters have indicated, the screened in lanai was great for keeping out the critters, although we did find what looked like a small salamander in the pool one morning. He was easily removed and went on his way!
Lemon is meticulously maintained, the house was spotless on our arrival. Both bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The living/dining room area was the perfect size for four people, and the kitchen was very well kitted out with all the necessary tools and appliances. Both bathrooms were clean and functional, with loads of available towels. There is an HE washer and dryer in the garage, don't overpack!
Lemon is close to everything; the supermarket, pharmacy, and beach are no more than a 5 minute walk away. The island Publix is extremely busy on weekends, shop during the week or go to the one on Manatee at 75th St, bigger, less crowded.
We're not foodies but, Sandbar is good, Ginny & Jane E's for great sandwiches or bagels, Café on the Beach for breakfast, don't miss Skinny's for burgers/fries/onion rings, and we never left hungry from Fire & Stone Pizza down on Cortez Rd. The Italian takeout on Pine Ave in Anna Maria is reputed to be fantastic, we'll go there next visit, and take a walk out the restaurant at the end of the AMI pier for fish & chips.
The beach is why we go! It runs all the way from the top to the bottom of AMI. A 5 minute walk parks your beach chair in the sand at the end of 45th St. The wagon makes it easy to carry the chairs, cooler, and umbrellas and toys. August is HOT, HOT, HOT!! Drink lots of water, and don't forget sunscreen! The new posted crosswalks now make it much easier to cross Gulf Dr everywhere. Almost forgot the FREE AMI trolley, it runs from Anna Maria to Bradenton Beach.
I'm running out of characters, so, many thanks to Chris & Stephanie for all your help, we will definitely be back!
“Paradise without an attitude” is a phrase that has been used to describe Anna Maria Island.
About an hour’s drive south of Tampa, Anna Maria Island is widely recognized as a bit of unspoiled perfection. There are no high rises on the Island – the maximum allowable building height by law is three stories. The chain restaurants have stayed on the mainland, not the Island. The speed limit is never more than 35 mph and the sun shines an average of 361 days a year with an average temperature of 84 degrees. With beach cottages and canal homes, the Island has a relaxed charm reminiscent of the Florida of yesteryear
The seven miles of un-crowded gulf coast beach are perfect for soaking up the sun during the day and watching breath taking sunsets in the evening. For those hankering to drop a line, the island has three fishing piers. There are also fishing charters for the more adventurous.
Dining options on the Island are plentiful with many restaurants offering a picturesque view of the water along with the meal. There are plenty of local shops to explore offering beach supplies, crafts and souvenirs. Visitors can stroll as they search for a memento of their stay made by one of the local artists and artisans.
A free trolley service runs the length of the Island and is a convenient way to get around.
