Recently renovated by a local green architect, this historic cottage is clean, bright and comfortable.
Enjoy the convenience of being in the “center of the action” for Arts and Crafts Festivals, Coastal BirdFest, Mardis Gras, or First Friday Art Walks and the serenity afforded by being one block removed from downtown on a quiet street with no through traffic.
A porch swing under a large live oak, screened porch, and grilling area welcome visitors to enjoy outdoor living in the mild coastal climate.
My wife selected this cottage from the pictures, but the actual cottage exceeded our hopes. The unique interior design and all the amenities made our stay very comfortable. The location is very private but close, walking distance to all of Fairhopes special events, stores, and restaurants. We recommend and will return. Only wish our stay had been longer.
"A beautiful jewel . . . I loved staying in this charming house. It is accessible by foot to all the attractions of downtown Fairhope, yet provides a sense of complete privacy. The screen porch and its hammock swing are a rustic delight. Everything in this house is even better than it looks in the photos.
It is impeccably clean, spacious, and comfortable. If you want to be in a quiet spot with fabulous aesthetics, the Fairhope Clay Cottage is definitely the way to go."
We had a great stay in our Fairhope Cottage. The cottage was quiet, clean, well equipped, and very close to town. The bikes provided made it fun and convenient to ride through the neighborhoods around town and down to the pier. Fairhope's location made it easy to drive up to Mobile or down to Gulf Shores in about 40 minutes. If you go through Foley, don't miss going to Lambret for lunch or dinner. All I'll say is that it's an experience with huge quantities of good Southern food. Other places we enjoyed eating at were Felix's fish camp on the causeway (great view) toward Mobile and Big Daddy's on the Fish River in Fairhope. Make sure you spend time strolling the streets of Fairhope with all the interesting shops and beautiful flowers in bloom everywhere.
Obviously you love Fairhope because you are looking here. Now you have found the perfect cottage for you and your special person to stay in. Small cottage that " lives large" - open living -dining room with kitchen right where you want it. Cool bath with stone floor shower and great mattress to sleep on. About 5 minutes from town so you can walk everywhere. Restaurants everywhere to walk to. Quiet - yes at the "almost" end of the dead end. Grab it now but forget Feb, March and part of April 2014 - you bet we're coming back from Michigan.
Cottage is located 1 block from downtown Fairhope with easily accessible amenities such as Restaurants, Galleries, Grocery, Shopping, Library, Reprographics and Business services, Banks, etc. Business travelers can reach Mobile or Pensacola in under an hour.
Foodies can enjoy being only a block or two away from over 20 local restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, and pubs in the downtown and bay view area.
For outdoor enthusiasts, walking paths and bike trails that reach from Mobile to Pensacola are easily accessible, and bike rentals are just two blocks away. The public pier is 3/4 of a mile away, with fishing year round and kayak or paddleboard rentals during summer months.
The cottage grounds and adjacent property are both certified backyard wildlife habitats, offering great opportunities for birding year round and watching the monarch migration each fall.
