This forest retreat away from the bustle of the city is almost entirely surrounded by trees. About Glen Nikkel

My name is Glen and I am a 60 year old bachelor. I was born just outside of Winnipeg to a military family. I moved to Vancouver in 1972 and worked as a carpenter/contractor and ran a successful business for 15 years. This is a whole new life for my dog Sheba and I .I have wanted to live here on the Sunshine Coast for the last 30 years. Here I am now living the dream.

Glen Nikkel purchased this chalet in 2012

Why Glen Nikkel chose Gibsons

I chose this property because there is so much room. We can accommodate large gatherings. The home has a very warm feeling inside with 25 ft. high ceilings finished in pine. The open concept, huge windows and all the native art give it west coast character. I have travelled all over the world and I have learned the best holiday in the ones with the lest amount of travel to be the most relaxing . A short drive. A 40 minute ferry ride. Puts you in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

What makes this chalet unique

Native art decorates every wall. There are many beautiful and original pieces. The old growth trees are massive. The 2 acre ravine is a nature paradise/rain forest. Pet friendly to well behaved K9s. Motorcycle rider’s paradise with winding roads along the ocean and old growth forests. To make your holiday more enjoyable, we have tried to think of everything and include it in a binder.

Watch for it on the coffee table. It is easy reading and should answer all your questions. It covers the jet tub, fireplace, phone, laundry facilities, board games, TV Channels, phone numbers, and more.

It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the “How To’s” of the house when you arrive.

Birthday visit #2

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from my 2nd (maybe annual) stay at Nature Hideaway. We had a very enjoyable couple of days. We visited new beaches, new restaurants, had a campfire and lazed around the chalet of a house. See you again next year for some more exploring on the coast.

Yes it was a very peaceful place; it felt like we were in a beautiful forest, so quiet & lovely.

We enjoyed our week stay as a family, and it was great that there were enough bedrooms for all of us. The photos were a good reflection of the actual place, though some rooms appeared larger in the photos. The kitchen was not the tidiest, and somewhat disorganized, but adequate with lots of dishes. The bedrooms were all good size with dressers and closets and good lighting. The property has so many lovely varied trees, bushes, plants and flowers and we enjoyed them. The large sun deck was great for our 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter; we didn't have to worry about where she was, she was safe there. Glen was an amiable owner and we certainly enjoyed his freshly caught salmon: what a treat! We enjoyed hiking to Skookumchuck Narrows: it was spectacular! Have to go at the right high and low tide times. We enjoyed the Family friendly petting farm, the children enjoyed the pony rides & the chance to cuddle the bunnies and chickens. We also enjoyed the boat tour of Porpoise Bay and seeing the seals and moon jelly fishes. The little Farmer's Market was small but interesting, and the little village of Gibsons was nice to browse around in the little shops; we especially enjoyed the olive oil shop. We would recommend this place to our family and friends.

We had a three couples stay here to attend a wedding in Gibsons and we enjoyed our stay. The house is in great shape with tons of room and the yard is unbelievable.

I would go back in a heartbeat

  • 5 of 5

Loved it.

There were five of us, we each had a bedroom and we could have fit a few more people in.

Large yard, close to pretty much anything you would want to do.

Glen and Todd were extremely welcoming and tended to any questions I had.

The house has a large deck ( we had about 25 people on it and still had lots of room ).

No noisy neighbours, although we made some.

Great relatively secluded location, I absolutely loved it and will be back.

Beautiful property; excellent landlord

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay!! Thank you so much for everything! The property is beautiful, the landlord was so friendly and accommodating. Glen was really quick if we needed his help with anything. There was plenty of room for our large family. Lots to do and places to explore. I LOVED the artwork on display throughout the house! So beautiful! In fact, I still have my heart set on one of the beautiful wooden boxes. There was something new to see everyday on this property. Definitely check out the outlying towns during your stay. Many and varied attractions, and we loved the outdoor markets. Thanks for everything!
