Intimate Tropical Luxury Better Than Most 4-5 Star Rooms

Very Clean Modern European Style In-Law Unit. Stylized compact basement unit with four windows has kitchenette, shower w/ Jacuzzi tub, one bed, HW floors, Italian tiles. Private entry, tropical yard w/outdoor Jacuzzi & fire pit.

The space is small so it best suits a single person or a very cozy duo. Ideal for visiting scholars, parents/grandparents of UC students.

Transportation is very easy by bus, Bart, car, and foot. Bart station for service to downtown Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco.

Non-smokers please.

You are always greeted with a bottle of wine and fresh flowers.

Blanca (a Kaiser Nurse from Guatemala) and Greg (a Hearing Specialist from Berkeley) love the area and people for its diversity, activities, music, gourmet dinning, and local culture.

Little Gem in the East Bay

Looking for lodging for an upcoming visit with my daughter, I was not really excited about the hotel choices. I remembered how nice HomeAway worked out having leased a condo in DisneyWorld near Orlando. I searched and came across this little gem.
What a cozy, comfortable basement studio. Tastefully furnished as described but even more nice touches like candles that automatically are timed for evening light. Feels like home with your own space downstairs. Very safe area coming and going, to and from a gated garden oasis. Outdoor patio was private and a nice peaceful place to relax. Ample jetted tub in room with a swivel TV to watch while you soak and enjoy the tube. Local area books were helpful as well as informative of the area.
I spent a lot of time on the go and only met Greg and Blanca a few times, and I can only say how thoughtful they were to have their daughter check with me to see all was well while they were away.
Bottle of wine and chocolates always a welcoming treat. Alot of thought of special attention has been paid to this sweet little retreat.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway

Fantastic experience in lovely place

I spent a month at Greg and Blanca's place (was travelling for work) and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The place looks just like in the pictures, if not even better. It is very clean, extremely cozy (especially the bed, which was super comfortable), and has all the amenities you could possibly ask for. Plus, the space is so well divided that it feels more like a 1-bedroom than a studio! The only drawback is that the unit has very little natural light; however, the fact that it has a lot of charm and provides direct access to the garden more than makes up for that.

The area is quiet, safe and pretty, and the garden is great for relaxing. Also, close proximity to public transportation (5 minutes away from several bus lines running up and down San Pablo) makes it a convenient location for exploring the East Bay if you don't have a car.

Greg and Blanca were extremely friendly and attentive and made me feel really welcome at the place. They took a genuine interest in getting to know me and made sure I had everything I needed while I was there. They even invited me to a little garden party for a celebration! While there were a few small issues with the apartment, they made sure to fix them right away.

Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a cozy place to stay in the East Bay.
