I am a retired architect. I love to fish, to swim, and spend my time doing sports or making friends.
I designed and built this house, and was finished in 2009.
I used to travel around the world and most of the times we have rented a house, so we know what you need.
Mario Carlo purchased this house in 2009
I designed and built this home because I wanted to spend more time here in the island.
In Mexico I would say is the safest place to be and to live in, because it is a small community, and the people know me and they take care of my family.
You will love this house if you travel with kids, because you do not need go anyway, just open the back door and now you are at the beach.
If you travel with friends too, the same thing, just enjoy, party, cook something in the grill and if you prefer you can cook all the time, but if do not, then you can walk in the white sand to have breakfast, or dinner.
Even you can rent a golf cart and go different places in the island.
We have pure water, big super market, drug store, hospital, doctors, etc...
It was a privilege to have stayed at this amazing home. We are a family of five with kids ages, 8, 13 and 15. We stayed at an all inclusive in Riviera Maya for the first part of our vacation with some friends and added 5 days at this home on to our vacation for some family time. What a great decision that was. The house was immaculate and the interior design was fabulous. You can't imagine anything more relaxing. Mario made the transaction very easy, he made sure we had everything we needed throughout the week. We appreciated the restaurant recommendations that were left for us too! The views from the living room and master were so beautiful. The pool was lovely and perfect to relax around. The beach has soft white sand, nice for walks. The kitchen has everything you need if you like to cook. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were luxurious. Although spacious the house was nice and cozy. The neighbors were very kind and welcoming too, including the folks at the Tiburon bar restaurant that was just a short walk down the beach. We rented a golf cart in town when we arrived, the rides in and out of town were very enjoyable. The grocery is near to this house and has everything you need to make a great meal. I love the cheeses and the bakery! What a friendly town! We definitely look forward to returning. Our favorite restaurants that week were Mango Cafe for breakfast/brunch, the Rooster for coffee (fun owners) and Las Brisas for beach front dining. Thank you!
Our family of 6 spent 12 days during Christmas 2014 in this beautiful vacation home!! Everything was exceptional! The home is beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large. The house and surrounding area is more beautiful than pictures can show. Kitchen has everything you need, we even made a big Christmas dinner with turkey and trimmings. We have absolutely no complaints!! Mario was extremely helpful and made every effort to make sure everything was perfect. He even came over from Cancun one day to make sure everything was satisfactory. Thank you Mario!
This is a very quiet area perfect for a relaxing family vacation. We travelled with our 4 teenage sons and they were never bored. We didn't do many of the "touristy" things as our boys made us promise that we just relax and not plan anything. Swimming in the ocean was warm and excellent. We would go out each morning and jump from the dock just a few steps down the beach. Make sure to bring a snorkel and mask as there are many things to see in the ocean right in your backyard. There is also a beautiful sandy beach that is nice to relax on or in the pool or hammock in the backyard. Mosquitos come out between about 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening but after that time they are minimal. We enjoyed visiting the Turtle farm right next door. There is a lovely older gentleman that works there, he let's you hold conch, sea urchins, horseshoe crabs and starfish. It's very cheap only 30 pesos or $3. Punta Sur is beautiful and worth visiting. We didn't eat out much but a few of the places we did enjoy were Mango Café, Oscar's and Bahama Mama. We did most of our shopping at Chedraui which is nearby (like a small Walmart) and it has absolutely everything you will need. I would highly recommend renting a golf cart during your stay. We rented two for our entire trip from Ciro's which is a few blocks from the ferry but prices were better than the places near the ferry terminal. It's a bit pricey but totally worth it because of the freedom of coming and going without having to find a taxi. Also gives you the opportunity to travel around the island stopping to see different things and to really get a feel for the community. The local people are very friendly. If you show kindness you will be shown kindness in return.
Thank you Mario for sharing your beautiful home! We have made wonderful memories for a lifetime. We look forward to seeing you again!
The house is stunning, the pictures don't do it justice. Everything you could need is there, and the private beach is the icing on the cake. We were a group of 7 staying for a week, with several of us being regular visitors to Isla Mujeres. The house is convenient to the large grocery store on the island, but a little longer to get to Playa Norte and Hidalgo than we would prefer. The beds were comfortable and the property is very secure.
There were a few issues, however. The pool filter is on a timer to only run from midnight to 6am. This rendered the pool almost useless during the day, as it became full of debris from the trees, and cloudy due to the water not being circulated. The owner claimed this was for the convenience of the guests at the house, but a pool pump and filter do not produce that much noise, and we would have much rather have used the pool. Instead, we ended up going to Zama Beach club down the road and to Tarzan's beach club on Playa Norte. When we attempted to turn the pool filter and pump on ourselves, we were told not to do so.
Also upon leaving, we were told that there was evidence of us smoking inside the home, which was absolutely not true. We were also told a beach towel was missing (which we never even used since we couldn't use the pool). A glass was broken during our stay, and these reaons, along with the owner claiming that there were some dishes that didn't come clean in the dishwasher, gave him reason to keep our deposit. We refuted his claims to no avail.
It's a shame that our stay was marred by the accusations and deposit not being returned, as we would have gladly recommended this home to many of our friends who travel to the island. The house is gorgeous, but would do better if it were managed by a professional rental management company.
We had an amazing time at Casa Calle Angosta. As a family of 6 (4 young children) we were a little nervous booking this location simply because there were no reviews to go by. Mario set our minds at ease and promptly replied to any questions we had no matter how trivial they may have seemed.
Firstly, this house and property are simply stunning and the pictures truly do not do it justice. The view across of Cancun is absolutely breath taking. We enjoyed eating outside daily staring out past the post card palm trees out into the open sea. Everything in this house is first class and well appointed.
Our daily activities included kayaking directly from our private beach, outdoor grilling, swimming in the pool and touring the entire island in the golf cart.
We had a fabulous holiday and cant wait for our next trip back to Casa Calle Angosta. Thx again Mario for everything...we truly had a fantastic holiday!
We were a little hesitant to book Casa Calle Angosta because we couldn't find any reviews. So we made contact with Mario, the owner, who promptly and patiently answered all our questions. The property had all the amenities we were hoping for: all ensuite bedrooms, pool, swimmable beach frontage; green space (it's nice when city kids can go "free range" on vacation), a decent kitchen and plenty of space for two families.
Turns out it was one of those places that surpassed the photos and listing description. It has amenities designed for a chill family vacation: it's incredibly spacious inside and out, there's a dining table that seats eight, two refrigerators, big comfy sofas to curl up on, a solid AV setup (including ext. Boase speakers), great linen/beds, well-appointed bathrooms and some great interior design features.
We were familiar with the Playa Norte area, which we love, but it was our first time staying in Sac Bajo. It was fantastic too, and very well-suited for families or anyone who wants to have some space and quiet. Yet it's not that it's far away from anything—Playa Norte was a short golf cart ride away, we found a great taco place just five minutes away, and the turtles (fun and cheap!) and dolphins (fun and expensive!) were just down the street.
It's tough to find any *real* faults with the place, so let me quibble with some minor stuff: we rented the golf cart that went with the place, but it didn't always work well; the washer/dryer combo seemed to be near the end of its natural life; the water at the beach is weedy and shallow and the pool didn't seem to be filtering as actively as I expect (but I've had this same concerns at other rentals too, so it may be my hangup).
That's all I have; I'm without any significant criticisms. I can recommend this property without reservation.
We had an amazing vacation at Casa Calle Angosta. The home was very nice and spacious, and the pool and beach were great for us and our three children. We really enjoyed spending our time in the back yard, which truly felt like our own little oasis. Mario made our stay very pleasant as well; From the first day we contacted him about our possible stay, to the end of our vacation - things went very smooth and Mario was there to help with any questions we had. Another thing we really appreciated about this home was how welcome we felt in the neighborhood; From the little beach boutique owners, to the people working at the restaurant down the beach (great food!!!) ; they really made us feel right at home.
We are already making arrangements for our return to Casa Calle Angosta in the near future. Thank you very much for an amazing stay Mario!

We are a 5 minutes away in golf car from the biggest grocery store in the Island, and 2 minutes away from the smaller store.
Punta sur and Garrafon are a 10 minutes away in golf car from the house.
