Called the 'Gold Coast' the Traverse City area is a beautiful place to relax, walk, bike, visit wineries and breweries, go shopping, in the winter you can enjoy the lights and cross country and downhill skiing, watching the waves on Lake Michigan, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. There are activities for kids, adults, singles and couples to enjoy. There are 25 wineries on Leelanau Peninsula and many more on Old Mission Peninsula. Traverse City is also close to Elk Rapids, Alden, Leland, and Suttons Bay, these are quaint towns that are a must visit spring through fall. Torch Lake is a must see! It is one of the world's most beautiful lakes and looks like the Caribbean Ocean! Another must see is Good Harbor Beach miles of soft sand and views of the Manitou Islands and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Sleeping Bear Dunes was rated the most beautiful place to visit in 2011. Charlevoix, Petoskey and Glenn Arbor are all within a 45 minute drive and are a must visit as well.
