Our beautiful chalet-style lake home sits on quiet, great-fishing (abundant walleyes, northern pike, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegills) Upper Bottle Lake. With plenty of privacy, this is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Outdoors: Over 200 feet of private lakefront, with mature red pines and gorgeous sunset views. Large lawn complete with hammock, dining table/chairs, and stone fire-pit/patio for relaxing outdoor time. Stairs lead from the elevated front lawn down to the dock (please note: about 70 steps from yard to water's edge). Weber Genesis gas grill is ready to use.
Indoors: Custom-built home features gorgeous pine walls, large windows, and an open floor plan. There are vaulted ceilings over two proper bedrooms, plus an open loft space -- all three with queen beds (and all upstairs). One bedroom also includes a crib (there is also a pack-n-play and toys for the little ones). Beautiful hardwood floors lead to a large dining and living room with a Sony flatscreen TV (includes cable TV and DVD player). There is a queen-size bed behind a room-screen in the living room, as well. Two bathrooms (one with full tub, one with shower). Washer/dryer. Kitchen is outfitted with restaurant appliances, counters and shelving (all stainless steel for easy cleaning and low maintenance), and oriented for outdoor living with its placement on ground level overlooking the front yard and lake. Kitchen also includes small eat-in table. All bedding, towels, and kitchen gear is included ... just show up and enjoy. If you want to stay connected, high-speed wireless internet and landline phone are included. Attached two-car garage.
Area: The lake is quiet, with great distances between the lots, and light water traffic, even in mid-summer. It is about 4 miles from Emmaville, and 5 minutes from the great little dining town of Dorset. Bigger towns are also within a short drive: Nevis (10 minutes), Park Rapids (15 minutes), Walker (30 minutes), Bemidji (40 minutes). Many other lakes within just a few minutes, including Mantrap, Emma, Stocking, Little Sand and Big Sand. Lake Itasca and the Mississippi Headwaters Park is about 20 minutes away.
It was always my dream to have a cabin in Northern Minnesota, after growing up near the Twin Cities. My brother custom-built this home, and my wife, children, and I spend as much time here as possible. It's a nice break from city life, and we enjoy the peace and quiet, and also love to have other family and friends come and join us.
Gregory Mazzuco purchased this cabin in 2003
We chose this property because of the views, water access, and privacy. Then we built a home that fits the location, and provides the amenities to make a long-term stay very comfortable.
This beautiful home is ideally situated on the property, overlooking the quiet lake, with perfect sunset views and lots of distance between the neighbors.
Spent a week in this lovely, solid, custom built wood home near Park Rapids. Great sunset views and fires in the evening on slate fire pit area. The kitchen's location threw us off a bit at first, but we came to love that it is close to the door ,so most of our meals were out of doors. (We did have a perfect weather week) The equipped commercial / restaurant kitchen was dynamite.....we didn't lack for anything, easy to prepare meals and easy to clean up. 3rd Bedroom is semi private behind screen but adequate for close friends or family. Only fished the lake one day with moderate luck, we heard locals rate it highly. Did some water skiing and lovely boats rides, connected to another lake. There are 75 steps to dock , so had to be sure not to forget anything when heading to the water. (Good exercise!) It's in a great location surrounded by so many small lakes and close enough to run into Park Rapids for supplies and groceries. Near cute little tourist towns along the bike trail going through Park Rapids, Dorset, Nevis, Walker. 40 minutes to Itasca State Park. Great week!
My family and I just spent a much needed wonderfully relaxing week at this beautifully crafted and well thought out lake home.
We enjoyed spending time by the fire watching sunsets, fishing on Upper Bottle Lake and surrounding lakes, swimming and playing in the water, and enjoying peace away from busy daily life.
The accommodations were wonderful and more than enough space for a family of 5.
It is located in a very convenient location for getting to area land marks and attractions.
The rental process was very easy and the owners were more than helpful and kind. We would definitely spend a week here again!
Our family spent a relaxing week at the custom lake home on Upper Bottle Lake. The setting was very peaceful with wilderness abound. The cabin itself shines with a rustic but elegant feel. You can tell that the builder really put a lot of thought and care into the construction of the cabin. The upstairs had an expansive treehouse type appeal that left you peering out one of the many windows into the tree tops. Very relaxing.
Upon first arriving at the cabin, we thought it a bit odd to have the kitchen downstairs attached to the garage, but when you think about it, that is where you spend most of your time. We just opened the garage doors and the lake views were right there in front of you. Access to the kitchen and garage area was easy and you did not have to worry about making a mess because a quick sweep of the floor made things as good as new. The kitchen had everything that you could possible need to keep you family feed and happy.
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel feel with maid service, this may not be the place for you, but if you want the rustic cabin feel with the amenities of home, look no further. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family and hope to return for another family vacation in the future.
Work in the city was getting me down and this place was the perfect refuge. After three days of lounging in the cavernous living room, sipping tea in the fully-equipped kitchen, boating around the lake (complete with rescue by friendly neighbors when we ran out of gas), and sitting by the campfire at night, I was recharged. The modern cabin fits unassumingly into the nature around it to produce a sense of harmony. Highly recommended for a weekend or week away from it all.
We enjoyed our stay, very much. The layout was unique, but proved to work well, especially in the mornings. The kitchen is away from the rest of the house and sleeping quarters. Everyone was able to sleep late, and the early risers could enjoy their coffee downstairs and not worry about disturbing the other..
The fire pit and hammock were great!
The location was great. We enjoyed Dorset, Nevis and Park Rapids!!
