1 large studio w/custom wall bed, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2-3

Architecturally unique, west coast modern dwelling. Curved design of house and roofs with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout. Green roof design using native grasses and sedums (planned for Spring 2013). A 'Green' build with goals of energy conservation and rainwater collection.

Spacious studio with contemporary interior/modern furnishings. Bright and light with vaulted curved ceiling and wall-to-wall windows overlooking a green roof and views of the coast/mountain ranges beyond. Private entrance and deck.

Spectacular sunsets, coastal island/ocean views as far as you can see. Mossy bluffs smothered in foxgloves in Spring followed by waving, golden grasses in summer. Gnarly, weathered old firs, roots dug deep into the bedrock to withstand the channel winds, dark silhouettes against a big sky and even bigger ocean.

A small community, surrounded by rainforest, fern valleys, moss covered bluffs and easy walking trails. Short woodland stroll to one of Bowen's best public swimming beaches in Bowen Bay.

About Wynn Nielsen

I was born to this coast and have a deep love for its rugged beauty and wild nature. In my work as a landscape designer and artist, I specializing in naturalistic gardens that are harmonious and in context with their wild surroundings. The creation and design of this house and landscape is a culmination of many years of imagining and desire to put down roots and I feel very fortunate to have found a home here. I love to share my experience of this special place with others and I am now able to do that through the creation of 'The Bluffs'.

Why Wynn Nielsen chose Bowen Island

This is a new development that opened up on the west side of the island. The ridge is home to 7 bluff lots with spectacular coastal views. Notwithstanding the wondrous natural setting, the philosophy behind the development was what attracted me to build and live here. The developer has stringent guidelines to protect the environment including maximum house sizes, water conservation (roof water collection), sustainability and energy conservation (Builtgreen). It felt right to build here.

What makes this studio unique

The winding one lane road through the rainforest opening up on to moss covered bluffs and, then, the ocean/sky views from the bluff. It was love at first sight.

'The Bluffs' is located on the west (sunset) side of Bowen Island in a very small community surrounded by designated parkland (Evergreen Park). It is a 15 min. stroll though forest trails to one of Bowen's best swimming beaches. The suite is nestled on a mossy ridge of steep bluffs, smothered in foxgloves in the summer and framed by gnarled, weathered old fir trees. It overlooks a deep valley and a spectacular coastline view stretching to the horizon. The sunsets viewed through floor-to-ceiling windows are spectacular, vibrant and ever-changing.

Start your day with a walk or run through the rainforest on easy trails that are right outside your door.

A diversity of pond and bird life abounds. A naturalistic garden, designed by the owner (Artist in the Garden Designs), melds house and wild surroundings into a harmonious relationship of both composed beauty and wildlife habitat.

The entrance to your suite entrance winds through the garden, past the ponds, and leads to a private entrance and deck.

If you like to walk, hike, swim or kayak; are a creative soul, e.g., a writer, a photographer or other professional needing a place to re-charge; are celebrating a special occasion, or just want to enjoy a relaxing and restorative place in close relationship with nature, we may be just what you are looking for. "A morning and ocean lover's paradise! When I saw the Bluff's on the web I worried no place could be as beautiful or tranquil as the photos suggested - luckily I was wrong. Three of us long-time girlfriends chose the Bluffs to getaway. We were thrilled to drive up and see amazing panoramic views of the ocean which continue right inside our suite. It is new, beautifully furnished, great bed, and from the espresso machine to the sharp knives, fresh fruit and croissants - it was bliss. Wynn is a gracious host - helpful at request and offering privacy to visitors. We will be back!"

Awake to epic ocean views and watch sunsets by night! In between hike from right outside your doorway. When I saw the Bluff's on the web I worried no place could be as beautiful or tranquil as the photos suggested - luckily I was wrong. Three of us long-time girlfriends chose the Bluffs to getaway. We were thrilled to drive up and see amazing panoramic views of the ocean which continue right inside our suite. It is new, beautifully furnished, has a great bed, with thoughtful luxuries from the espresso machine to the sharp knives, fresh fruit and croissants. Wynn is a gracious host - helpful at request and offering privacy to visitors. We will be back!

Amazing island getaway!!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Bluffs on Bowen for a long weekend and had an amazing time. What a stunning location!

The view from the suite is absolutely mind blowing. We have both travelled extensively, staying in many unique locations around the world, and we agree that this is our favorite. Aside from the truly breath taking view, the suite is brand new and beautiful. The kitchen is fully equipped with state of the art appliances and Wynn generously stocks the pantry with breakfast things (Eggs, bacon, croissants, bread, milk, juice, fruit, coffee, tea, cereal etc.). The suite has its own entrance which gives guests total privacy and the ability to come and go as they please. The property is located in a forested area, so there are many trails to explore and it is minutes from the beach.

Honestly, we had the best time here and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing, luxurious and unique getaway! Thank you Wynn for your gracious hospitality.

Little piece of Paradise

If you are looking for a great place to stay that offers stunning ocean and mountain views, this is it! The Bluffs on Bowen is the perfect romantic get away or just a place to go and enjoy the views. Wynn has gone the extra mile to ensure that you more than enjoy your stay. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels and resorts and this stay will be close to the top of the list. The price was more than reasonable for what you get. You have all the basics in the kitchen as well as a stocked pantry and fridge..... all you need to purchase is some veggies and whatever you want for meat. The views are just as described in the listing if not better! We would highly recommend this VRBO to anyone! Thank you Wynn for making our Valentine's weekend one well will never forget and we look forward to coming back soon.
