We arrived with our 8 children and never dreamed of the memories we would make at this perfect cabin by the creek. Our four boys explored the beauty of God's Beautiful Creation by the flowing river. The girls laid blankets out and read under the big, colorful trees. My husband taught my boys how to cut wood and we sat on the front porch wrapped in blankets and talked of "family things" and our future dreams… The smell of the wood stove will be a special reminder of our stay at Rock Creek.
We had a great time at Rock Creek Retreat. It is in a lovely setting where you feel as if you had the woods and river all to yourself. The outdoor fireplace and lovely porch where we could eat while we saw and heard the river made us feel like we were completely in the woods, but when the rain came we could go inside and watch a movie and play games. We loved watching all the hummingbirds that came to feeder on the porch. It was also located near Black Mountain, Montreat, Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. What a wonderful combination of the great outdoors and the modern conveniences! Thank you for a serene and restful time at your cabin!
Beautiful house, inside and outside!!!! We looking forward to come back in the summer!!!!
My husband and I think this is the prettiest location we have stayed in NC. The river running past the house was just beautiful--you could hear it from your bed at night--lulled me to sleep. There are no neighbors just nature at your front door--you can look in all directions and see no one. The cabin was very nice, very spacious with all the amenities you need or could want. We will defiantly return. The town of black mountain was especially beautiful set with mountains all around and beautiful colored trees everywhere. Lots of cute stores too. Thank you for your hospitality and chance to stay at your lovely mountain home!
Beautiful setting, right on the river! We enjoyed the deck overlooking the river. My husband caught a trout which was released but fun to catch. Excellent time of the year to visit. The leaves were absolutely beautiful!!
Our recent stay in this rustic mountain hideaway really was the definition of its name – Rock Creek Retreat. It was a retreat in every aspect, a 3,000-foot-high escape for a few days in August from our ordinary lives in muggy, sea-level Florida.
The accommodations were as described: A spacious, comfortable cabin that had everything necessary for a North Carolina getaway -- not the least of which was the front porch. There we spent cool mornings and evenings swaying to the soothing rush of the Broad River below as we mapped out our daily outings. Some days it was difficult leaving the tranquility of the porch and its own scenic views to explore the many nearby attractions, both natural and man-made. Other days we just descended to the rocky river, wading in its chilled waters as we set about discovering what was beyond the next curve or mini-rapids. What we found in our expeditions were settings as gorgeous as any postcard image of an isolated stream in the lower Appalachians. This truly is a place where you can get away from it all.
We had no issues related to our rental arrangements. We left recharged and wishing only one thing – that we might return some autumn to experience, outside, nature’s dramatic palette along the riverbanks and, inside, the cozy warmth and fragrance of the wood-burning stove.
We went for a family vacation and the location was fabulous for good old family fun. My husband and I took our 2 teenage boys for a family vacation. The 2 teenage boys who "didn't want to go" had a blast and weren't ready to leave when it was time to go home. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 and had room for more. The cabins was well furnished with all the essentials and much more. The weather was perfect. Most nights we enjoyed cooking family meals and then sitting by the fire and listening to the creek. Some nights we also played the boardgames provided at the cabin. We did so much during our stay. During the days we visited the Biltmore House, Chimney Rock, Pisgah National Forest (sliding rock was awesome), Mount Mitchell along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and rafted, walked and swam in the creek at the cabin. The family memories we will have from this trip are priceless. We will definitely rent again and recommend to anyone looking for family getaway.
