My husband and I fell in love with the Keys while visiting from Decatur Texas, in 2010. We looked for the perfect vacation home for our family for nearly a year. Marathon is a great community, with wonderful friendly people. We love the fishing! or should I say 'catching' Our dream is to make it a full time home someday.
Mike or Patti Rhine purchased this house in 2012
We just purchased this delightful home in August of 2012. We looked for nearly a year for the perfect ocean front home. Simple yet very comfortable, The Lobster House is one you will be sure to return to. Tucked away in a very quiet safe Marathon neighborhood, you can walk or ride your bike to he local fish market or Walgreens. The beautiful and famous Sombrero Beach is just minutes away. We love the home for the perfect ocean view, never late afternoon sun in our windows, yet a beautiful sunset off to the right. Located just south of the Vaca Cut, you can be in the Gulf of Mexico in just minutes. The perfect location, and the perfect house for the Rhine family!
Easy access to the Gulf of Mexico, in just minutes.
Beautiful view of Key Colony and the open ocean
Great central location in Marathon
just completing a 2 week stay. Weather great and wonderful view. Periodic sightings of manatees & other wildlife great. House basically okay but aspects need attention. Window AC units old and noisy. Placed so close to some beds cannot be run at night. 3 burned out light bulbs when we checked in. Only 2 unmatched wine glasses. One fire alarm dangling by wires. Things like this need attention. A major issue for us was the barking dogs next door to east. Whenever they are out they do nothing but bark.
Enjoyed our stay but would need to see some changes before we return.
We recently stayed two weeks. The views are second to none. We got to see the manatee right next to the dock on two different days, it was almost close enough to touch. The house was well equipped with everything you need. We were able to walk to a walgreens at the corner which was very handy. Close to lots of places that had great happy hours. Mike the owner was always quick to respond to any questions I had.
The house was in a great spot and on the atlantic side. We did have continual issues with the hot tub and outdoor patio lights not working but other than that the house worked well for us.
We have been to the keys nov- March and I have to say I will never be returning in November again! It rained just about all day everyday except for the day we arrived and the day we left. Very windy conditions, couldn't snorkel or go boating/ fishing.
Pretty disappointed but hopefully future vacationers can take this advice and pick a better time to head to paradise... It certainly isn't fun when your stuck inside
We recently enjoyed a week in this adorable home. like many other travelers have stated I don't think you could find a better view. I admit I spent a lot of time outside just taking it all in, especially early in the morning for the sunrise. Gorgeous! The house was cozy and even though there was only three of us there was plenty of room for six.
We fished a lot, caught a lot and frequented Lazy Days restaurant to cook our fish. They will cook it any way you like and even some ways I'd never heard of, but it was all delicious. We enjoyed kayaking andpaddle boarding from our deck and also from Robbie's in Islamorada. Great house, wonderful vacation, would definitely stay here again. Hopefully for a longer period of time. Mike was great to work with. Easiest checkin and checkout we've experienced in the keys. Great location in marathon.
This is a nice little house right on the ocean. The views in the pictures is EXACTLY what you get. This place would be perfect for someone with a boat. The fishing in the keys is amazing and you are right in the middle of it. The house if very functional, not huge but perfect for the two of us. Except for the neighbor's dogs barking at every loud noise it was very quiet and peaceful. You will need to procure beach chairs and umbrella if you are a beach goer. There is minimal leave behind from other renters so be prepared to pick up laundry detergent and basic cleaning supplies. Say Hi to the Iguanas for us and make sure they get their vegetables and not just grapes. They stop by on sunny days at about 10am. It really is a nice place and we enjoyed our stay a lot.
The moment we walked in to this home we were in awe of the breathtaking view! The pictures of the house does not do the house justice! I loved the way the house was layed out for my family! My son and DIL and their two children were on one side of the house, with their own bathroom in between bedrooms. The master bedroom was on the opposite side of the house and very private. The kitchen was well stocked! The boat dock was convenient for docking our boat, only had to launch once and kept docked remainder of trip! My grandkids loved feeding the iguanas every day! My 5 year old grandson had a great time catching fish, including black tip shark, bonnethead, plus several other species of fish! The Sunset Grille had great view and food! This was my first time staying in the keys, I hope its not the last! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home!
Dolphin Research Center, Turtle Hospital are both within minutes of this very centrally located home. Grocery and Walgreens are just minutes away.
