One of the best overall views from the top floor in the resort.

This room has a king size serenity bed and an ottoman/chair that could sleep a small person. They will bring in a rollaway for $20. per day. We just had a 42' new flat screen tv installed. In the bathroom you will enjoy travertine and marble counters, floors and shower. We also have a blow dryer, iron and ironing board in our room. There is a desk over by the lanai which takes in the great views and the private lanai has amazing ocean pool and mountain views.

Kauai Beach Resort will fill your days and nights with adventure and luxury. From the moment you enter the lobby, you are met with the warmth of a plantation home. The entire resort recently went through a $16 million dollar renovation. Modern tropical furnishings and contemporary design are accented by warm woods, Hawaiian art, and intimate seating. High ceilings and glass capture the natural light and balmy ocean breezes. Like old plantation homes, the resort connects to the garden, spas and pools through a beautiful grotto and waterfall. There is a lounge on floor five in building two just off the elevator with a microwave for heating up leftovers. We are near the airport, between the north and south shores with free airport shuttle service.

About Donna Reising

Danny grew up in Oahu and had a family cabin right on Pipeline, so of course he grew up surfing. As a young adult, his work brought him to the Big Island where he manages a private water system. I moved to the Big Island in 2002 from Olympia, WA. I flew for the airlines for many years and was fortunate enough to discover that Hawaii is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places in the world. My love for flying brought me to work at Mokulele Flight Service, where I originally met Danny. He was taking flying lessons. For two years he thought that I had a partner until he saw me on an online dating site. He contacted me and we’ve been together ever since and are now engaged. We bought a 206 Cessna and have enjoyed flying to the other islands. We enjoy fishing and boating to the other islands when the channel cooperates. We have recently taken up golf and have enjoyed the golf courses on the Big Island, Kauai and Lanai. Between us we have five children and I have three beautiful grandchildren. We also have two border collies and a cat who is very spoiled.

Donna Reising purchased this hotel in 2012
Why Donna Reising chose Wailua

This beautiful resort is centrally located in the middle of the island, just 10 minutes from the airport on the north end of Lihue. Just 10 minutes north of the resort is Wailua and Kapaa. Here you can enjoy river paddling tours, snorkel tours, waterfalls, dining, shopping, hiking, golfing and many more activities. On the North side of the island is Hanalei Bay, where they filmed The South Pacific. Here we enjoyed paddling the river, which flows into the ocean, taking in all of the wild life along the way. This is also where we discovered the Kalypso Island Bar & Grill. The lounge at Princeville Hotel is a breathtaking stop to enjoy a beverage overlooking all of Hanalei Bay. Just 10 minutes south of our place is Kalapaki Joe's Sport’s Bar & Grill and Gingbua Tai restaurant at the Harbor Mall. One of our regular stops for lunch is Keoki's Paradise Grill, in the Poipu Shopping Center. It offers a nice open air experience. I also recommend going early in the morning to Waimea Canyon, before the clouds roll in and view the island of Ni’ihau. On our last trip we toured the Koloa Rum Store located at the historic Kilohana Plantation, one mile South of Lihue, between 22 North Restaurant and the Kaua’i Plantation Railway. They have samples of their rum made on Kauai. It was a fun experience. If you are a golfer, Wailua Municipal Golf Course is next door (reasonable, but always packed). The Kauai Lagoon Golf Course at the Marriott is 5 minutes away and is one of our favorites. The Puakea Golf Course is 10 minutes away, another favorite. The Kiahuna Golf Course is 20 minutes away in Poipu as well as the Poipu Golf Course (which is very nice, but more expensive). The Princeville Makai and Prince Course at Princeville, are two of the most spectacular golf courses in all of the world and just 40 minutes north and there are more. There are over 40 white sand beaches to explore on this garden isle. We highly recommend the Holo Holo Catamaran trip to Nihehau.

What makes this hotel unique

We were extremely pleased from the moment we saw the view from our room on the top floor. We overlook all of the pools, waterfalls, ocean and mountains. They are great rooms for people watching too. We really enjoy being pampered with the beauty of the resort and the great service. If we just want a retreat, they will pick you up at the airport and even shuttle you to a shopping center and a couple of golf courses. The restaurant is outstanding with great food, large portions and good prices. Danny enjoyed a prime rib cooked just the way he likes it. A couple of days later, he had barbecue beef ribs and there was so much. He said he felt like Fred Flintstone. We took the leftovers back to our room and heated them up the next night in the microwave in the lounge in building two and had an intimate dinner on our private lanai. I enjoy waking up to turquoise pools, waterfalls and the ocean. I enjoy lounging by the pool and enjoying the food and beverage service or watching sports around the Tiki bar. Danny said that the surf is great for beginners or those getting back into it. I hope to try soon. We have enjoyed long walks on the beach, which is the longest one on the island. The lounge is a great alternative for lighter fares and live entertainment. I found the business center very handy for taking care of faxing, scanning and copying. The convention centers there are great for seminars or company parties. We enjoy the convenience store in the morning for a specialty coffee and a bagel.

It's the Best of Kauai!

It's the Best of Kauai!

Submitted: April 20, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
I am addicted to Kauai and to the Kauai Beach Resort! I stayed there on my first visit in 2010 and again over the Christmas season in 2012. The resort had maintained its magical presence, and was decorated beautifully for the Holiday Season.

The room was everything I had come to expect from this exceptional property. It was clean, very clean in fact, well appointed with modern furnishings and appointments. The housekeeping service, althoug at an additional cost, is exceptional. The listing photos accurately reflect the property, the views from the room and the lanai, and the various features of the room and resort.

Donna was exceptional to deal with, very responsive and timely with my rental arrangements and managing my stay there.

The resort is positioned nicely on the island, such that it is central to all sightseeing, shopping, recreational venues and the airport. I particularly like that the drive south to Poipu is only 20 minutes, and is on a direct route north to Kapaa 5 miles away, and the more northerly sights. Don't forget to visit Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, and the Waimea Canyon when you are here.

I fully recommend this listing to those wanting a pleasant and trouble free vacation experience. I will again look to this listing when I next visit the beautiful island of Kauai.

Very nice room with sunrise ocean view, overlooking the swimming pools. The room is very clean and quiet with nice amenities (refrigerator, safe, coffee maker, new TV, and extra blanket). The staff is super friendly, and the restaurant serves good food. Enjoying a cocktail by the outdoor barbecue pit is a great way to end an evening after dinner. The hotel is conveniently located to nearby restaurants, shopping, and all kinds of activities. I highly recommend the Kauai Beach Resort for a relaxing vacation filled with aloha!
