About Owner/Property Manager

This property has been owned by our family as a retreat for 23 years. Originally Chicagoans, we now live on both coasts. The second generation of our family now owns the ranch and is offering it as a vacation rental for the first time. The caretakers have lived on the property for 12 years and are available for guide services in the area, as well as any other needs.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1990

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Gallatin Gateway

The Bold Fisherman Ranch was originally bought as a fly fishing retreat, but it quickly became a family gathering place given the beauty and serenity of the property. When you can pull yourself away, the ranch is in close proximity to the area's wonders, including the Gallatin River, the Spanish Peaks, Big Sky, Bridger and Yellowstone National Park. Twenty minutes from Bozeman, it offers a perfect combination of easy access to shopping and amenities with privacy and the feeling of a rural retreat. The trout pond and river access make it a rare property for both fly fishing afficianados and lovers of Montana beauty.

What makes this house unique

Traveling down the drive from Gallatin Highway, one enters the ranch and quiet and beauty descend. The views from the house include the fishing pond, an 85+ year old barn, expansive meadows bordered by the Gallatin River, and the Spanish Peaks in the background. Wildlife abounds, and the sky changes constantly: as beautiful on clear days as when clouds roll across the sky. We frequently see deer, fox, bald eagles, herons, ducks, sandhill cranes and more from the house. We never tire of the views and the sound of the river flowing through the bottom of the meadow, whether gathering by the stone fireplace in winter, or hanging out on the expansive deck in summer.

fishing and family

we spent a Thanksgiving week at this wonderful location. Thefishing in the pond was excellent. The fishing on the river was slow but a beautiful location. I recommend this for a family get together.this location makes fishing a spectator sport from the house.

Beautiful, serene, perfect!

  • 5 of 5
Just spent a spectacular weekend at the ranch. Words cannot describe how gorgeous, how romantic, how much fun it is there! We appreciated the sunrises and sunsets from the deck. We were enthralled by the fish and otters in the pond. We even took the boat out and tried our hands at fly fishing, courtesy of the rods in the home. The home is well thought out and has EVERYTHING you would ever need (minus bringing your food). It is close to town and the modern conveniences but just far enough away (and off the road) that it feels like you are in your own world... I cannot say enough great things about the property caretakers as well. This is a trip we will never forget and we hope to repeat annually!

Cozy and just right, even on a rainy day

  • 5 of 5
Perfect setting for a relaxing stay with multiple generations involved. Dads and kids made use of the fishing poles, photographers got shots of wildlife, and there were never too many cooks in the well-equipped kitchen. Firewood that was provided made the main living area's fireplace a perfect place to relax and even enjoy the rainy views of the meadow and pond.

Everything you could ask for!

Great house, magnificent property, an ideal place for the fisherman almost anytime, and skiers in winter. House is immacuately clean, exceptionally well maintained and is furnished with just about anything you can name, particularily in the kitchen. The view from the dining area and living room is fabulous.
The owner is wonderful and the caretaker very responsive if there's problems or questions
One tip: finding the driveway can be a bit tricky the first time, be sure to get the great directions from the onwer or caretaker!!

Love it, love it, love it!

  • 5 of 5
This was a lovely place for 8 of us--6 adults and two teens--to spend the holiday week. The house is spacious, light, and beautifully 'decorated' with art and artifacts collected and produced locally. (Doesn't feel like a stripped-down rental.) Great kitchen stocked with full array of cookware and staples! Very accommodating place and caretaker. We skied, shopped and toured to Yellowstone, all from this base camp. Can't wait to do it again!

Family holiday vacation

  • 5 of 5
This is a terrific setting for a multiple family vacation. The house is great--plenty of shared space plus places to escape for a little privacy and quiet time. We especially loved catching up at the end of the day in front of the fireplace in the living room. This is a perfect location for groups with multiple interests, with cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, coffee shops, and shopping all close by. The caretaker is also wonderful.

We'll be back!
