Light and Spacious 2-3 bedroom house, tranquil garden close to Medieval Piazza

Casa della Luna has been recently restored as a writer’s retreat with warm maple wood floors on top levels accessed by softly-lit travertine staircases. House in historic centre of Amandola retains original stencilled-domed study ceiling, oak beams and open fireplace. Set over 3 floors with 2 large-airy double bedrooms, 3rd bedroom/study and 3 bathrooms. Views over rooftops and church spire, spectacularly lit at night, to changing vistas of Sibillini mountains with gentle and challenging walks and other outdoor activities. Middle floor with relaxing living-dining room and galley kitchen leading to pretty patio with fountain and space for al-fresco dining and garden with mature laurel, palm and fruit trees offers space to relax away from bustle of main piazza with its historic bar, restaurants, bakery and other small shops. Sandy beaches of Adriatic and ski slopes close-by. Many year-round festivals in neighbouring medieval hill towns and villages of food, wine, jazz, theatre, opera.

Casa della Luna is a short short stroll from the medieval piazza of Amandola where you can enjoy an evening aperitivo and delicious meal under the stars in the heart of Italian life – with musical concerts in the square and jewel-box theatre La Fenice, plus other folklore celebrations in summer – surrounded by the stunning Sibillini Mountains, situated in the centre of Italy on the Adriatic side of the Apennines. This means day trips to near-by jems like Ascoli, Macerata, Jesi and even Assisi, Perugia, Todi and Urbino are easily enjoyed, making the wealth of Renaissance art - by Crivelli brothers, Piero della Francesca et al - varied local cuisine, history, jazz and opera close at hand. There are lively beaches on the coast and interesting designer outlet stores in the area including Prada, Tod’s and Armani. In winter there is skiing at Sarnano/Sassotetto 15 minutes away. This is truly an area with great appeal all-year round and catering to all tastes and interests.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (British Pound) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Longer lets, changeover day and final cleaning.
    Longer lets are considered at all times of year. please contact with dates and a discount can be negotiated. Shorter lets are also considered, but not from June to September unless there is last minute availability. Part weeks ie of 10 days will also be considered. Wherever possible there is flexibility on changeover day. Please enquire and as much as possible will be done to meet your needs. But during the peak season lettings normally run from Saturday to Saturday. Departure is by 10am and arrival not before 4pm unless otherwise agreed. Cleaning midway in stay of 2 weeks or longer can be arranged (and paid for locally) along with fresh bedlinen and towels. Please note that the above prices include a final cleaning of your apartment, bed linen and towels and all gas and electricity costs (excluding heating in colder periods - see below in deposit section for details).
  • Your deposit -
    A £200 (payable in UK sterling) refundable breakages deposit is payable to secure a booking - this is refunded in full within two weeks of the end of rental period once property has been checked. The full balance is payable 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. (Full details of cancellation policy provided prior to booking) During colder periods there will be an extra charge for the use of the central heating system based on consumed gas (checked by meter reading at start and end of rental period) for which an additional deposit will be required.

  • The three main bedrooms are on the top/third floor - all with mountain and garden views and two bathrooms on this floor - offering flexible sleeping arrangements (a total of 5 separate beds and sofa beds) according to the need/requests of guests. Two of the bedrooms have beautiful domed ceilings. The living-dining room, kitchen is on the middle-floor leading out to the patio and garden. The ground floor, with impressive staircase up to the main part of the house, used to be an extensive wine cellar and has now been separated into a bathroom, utility room and resting room where there is also a double sofa bed - beautifully cool in summer.

Notes: The house and cobbled lane leading up to it are not adapted for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Free parking is available in the main square (except for Wednesday mornings which is market day) within easy walking distance of the house - around 150 metres - or through a medieval archway near shaded park - 20 meters or so further on. A meet and greet service is available when you arrive in Amandola - just phone when close to the main square. The house has been furnished as a second home/writer's retreat with interesting photographs and artefacts from writer/owner's travels. The house is unsuitable for young children as the garden, though walled and secure on two sides, is bordered on the third side by an open wooden fence that drops several feet to a quiet pathway. Also unsuitable for pets. smoking outside only please.

Brilliant move. Look our for resident Humming-bird

We immediately felt at home within minutes of arrival. Reading through the visitors book was a brilliant move with many helpful suggestions. Should you be sitting on the terrace and see something larger than a bee amongst the geraniums it's more than likely the resident Humming-bird.

The location is near perfect

You've done such a smashing job on the conversion and it makes the house a great place to stay - don't think we could fault it. we really didn't want to come back. The location is near perfect - somewhere to unwind, but also to get out into the hills, do some walking, visit some of the region's towns etc - all that on the doorstep. I got used to heading down to the piazza each morning for a cappuccino and we felt welcomed universally by everyone - will recommend for sure!
