This cabin is only 7 miles east of Cedar City Utah, the Festival City of the country. With Award Winning Shakespearean Festival and Neil Simon Festival in the summer you get New York quality plays at Utah prices.

Outdoor views, scenic nationally renown areas like Zion National Park, Bryce National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monuments and many, many fishing lakes to view, explore or just 'Awe' at the magnificent of it all.

The log cabin has a full kitchen with propane stove, refrigerator, microwave and fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes with get views from the kitchen. Gas grill on Deck for outdoor cooking.

Nice size living room with large wood burning stove.

Two queen size bedroom and one loft bedroom upstairs with day bed to be made as king or two twins.

Cabin has water and power and still equipped with gas lights in case power goes out.

There are only 7 cabins in this area and normally no one is there, so it is always quiet and serene. No visible roads or homes can be seen from the cabin. It is a slice of heaven that makes you feel you are 100 miles away from reality and yet only 7 miles to town to enjoy all Cedar City has to offer.

Brianhead Ski Resort is only 15 miles on up the mountain and provides great summer sports and entertainment. Duck Creek Village is also only about 15 miles up the mountain and has quaint shops and lots to do, ATV riding, horseback hiding, all sorts of hiking and climbing.

We are Pet Friendly.

We have vacation rentals in Las Vegas and decided to get a cabin in the trees and mountains of Utah. Great for a very real R & R. No TV, no phone service, no internet, wonderful. Only two miles up the mountain you can get cell service. Cedar City as internet cafes and free internet with library card at the library. Anyone can get a card.

Judy Bulicz purchased this cabin in 2005

The seclusion of this property made it perfect for a very relaxing get away. However, it is only minutes and 7 miles from town. A very quaint town with festivals and events going on all year.

This cabin is snowed in during the late winter. If you want a real adventure you can snowshoe in or snowmobile in. Contact us for details during winter.

CUTE CABIN, WONDERFUL GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
We booked this cabin wanting to get away from the Vegas heat, unwind, and get away from it all. The cabin was perfect. My daughter (pre-teen) was disappointed that her phone wouldn't work and that there was no TV, but she had an awesome time and was wishing we could stay longer. The cabin is very cutely decorated, not fancy, but very comfortable. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the hummingbirds feed. We originally were looking to rent a cabin in Duck Creek, but we all agreed that this was much better for what we were looking for. Although there are other cabins in the area, they are far apart and the area is so heavily wooded, you feel like you are the only people for miles. During the day we drove out on highway 14 and did a few of the easy hikes, went to Cedar Breaks and Navajo Lake. Since we had not done much planning of our itinerary before arriving, we were very thankful that Judy had left some area information including a list of hiking trails in the area with specific details. We ended up using that list as a guide for our weekend activities. During our stay at the cabin, we saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and lots of different birds. One night we barbequed at the cabin and the other night we made the short trip to Cedar City (under 20 minutes) for dinner. The kitchen had everything we needed. In the loft there were several games, including playing cards and yahtzee which we used at night to have some spirited competitions. We all agreed that if there had been a TV, we probably wouldn't have had so much fun playing games and enjoying each other's company. We will definitely try to get back to this cabin again.

Owner's Response: Sandra, thanks so much for your glowing review. We really work hard to make sure we have what would be needed to have a great time in the woods. We enjoy the cabin so much for all the same reasons. The fact that it is only 7 miles from Cedar City so you can easily go into town for lunch, dinner or one of the many festivals is the best part. Duck Creek is 30 miles from Cedar City on a winding, steep road, not a great trip at night.
The hummingbirds will actually land on you if you are wearing red. What joy for "city kids" to experience as they soon forget about TV, ipads, video games and get into old fashion sitting around a table and playing board games.
Thanks and so glad you enjoyed.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH

  • 5 of 5
A nice cabin, quiet and secluded, well maintained, with a well-stocked kitchen, good laundry, comfortable beds, nice porch, great views. It's convenient to so many things, first of all Cedar City (with Smith's being the best grocery store, and the Utah Shakespeare Fest the most remarkable attraction). It's seventeen minutes from driveway to downtown Cedar City. Cedar Breaks is about forty minutes away in the other direction, up the canyon.

Yes, the driveway is steep, and we did have to tackle it once when it was slick after a thunderstorm, but really, any car can manage it.

There is no AC, so don't expect any. It's really not necessary. We were in the area during a heatwave, and the cabin warmed up considerably from about three in the afternoon until about six, but after that, cool breezes come pouring off the mountain and chills it all right back down.

Also, there's no TV, which fit our family's needs perfectly.

If you're into Club Med style luxury, this cabin is not for you. I loved it, as did my family, but again, if high end coddling is what you're after, best to look elsewhere.

The stairs up might be a challenge for anyone using a walker or a wheelchair, etc; they're narrow and not entirely even. Maybe better to look in town?

Finally, a word of warning: do not leave anything on the porch! There's a local squirrel that chews things. It ate my sandals. A small price to pay for a great week, but still. I have brought the squirrel up on charges with the local D.A., but so far it has dodged all its court dates.

: )

All in all, a perfect getaway, and the owners are responsive and easy to communicate with.

Two thumbs up.

Owner's Response: Mark thank you for your response and very nice review.
Yes, we have addressed the stairs situation. We are planning a trip in August to put in metal grid steps and a ramp at the kitchen entry.
Sorry about the squirrel. There are chipmunks too and they both do damage every year to the cabin, so we DO NOT FEED. We try to trap and get rid of.
All in all it is a splendid get away if you really want to "get away".
Again thanks.

LOG CABIN OUTSIDE CEDAR CITY

  • 4 of 5
I am always tentative about staying in places that are not reviewed on VRBO since you never know what you are getting. This place wasn't bad at all. There has been some changes to furniture in the living room from the pictures shown, but in my opinion, what is in there now is nice, so no complaints from me.

We had an issue with the using the oven portion of the range, but the owner stated this hadn't happened before, so I'm assuming it must have been a isolated incident. The rest of the kitchen was functional. The overall decor of the cabin was very nice, and the cabin as a whole seemed well upkept for something that probably is 30 or more years old (guessing on the age by the looks of the kitchen cabinets).

The only negative I had to say about the whole trip was the mattresses were a bit hard. I had a rough time with them as we did a ton of hiking. It may be chalked up to preference though, so take that as you will.

There is a charcoal (not gas) bbq out on the porch that worked well, but keep in mind that at this high altitude, using lighter fluid is an imperative as matches have a hard time staying lit. The wood stove inside was another nice feature that got a lot of use while we were there. The views from the deck are really awesome. Cedar City is around 5,500 feet and this cabin has to be at least 6,500 feet. You can see portions of Cedar Breaks. It really is beautiful.

The road leading into the cabin is dirt for the last 500 feet or so. It is extremely steep for the first couple hundred feet. We went up it in the dry season, but made it easily in a toyota prius. The last 50 or so feet to the house, there are a few large rocks sticking out of the road, so watch out or you may need to have some repair work done (veer to the right, they are on the left as you come in).

We had a great time here, and it was 2 adults with 3 children. I think it is a good option for folks looking to get away from it all, while only being 7 miles away from Cedar City.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your review. We are in the process of updating the photos. We have much nicer furniture now and we are adding several new pieces.
The oven is working perfectly now. It seems the propane line had been turned down so it took forever to light.
It is quite a hide-away. We always enjoy it.
