Perfect retreat for R & R. Located on private road/dead end on pristine small lake, Perch Pond. Impeccably maintained log home. Completely equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 full baths, washer/ dryer, walk-out basement, wrap-around deck, satellite TV, heated, phone. Gas grill (new in 2015), paddle boat. Lower deck by water. Electric boats only - no gas motors allowed. Directly off of Rte. 22A in Benson, VT.

Renter to supply bed linens, towels, and responsible to leave as found. Families and responsible adults only. Pets okay if no barking dogs. Three bedrooms: 2 queen beds - 2 twin beds. Ski areas within 1 hour (Killington, Pico, Okemo, Middlebury Snow Bowl).

Our favorite place to vacation!

This is the most peaceful place on Earth. We absolutely adore this cabin and the pond! It's the perfect retreat for swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, reading, and relaxing. The house is very clean and cozy. Everything is well-stocked, and we felt at home immediately. The owners are great people - very kind and professional. If visiting the area, you must try The Wheel Inn for breakfast, Cafe Provence for brunch or dinner, and American Flatbread in Middlebury. The food is delicious. You're a short drive from lots of great eateries and places to explore. There is a fire pit for campfires; we purchased wood and supplies to make smores from Buxton's General Store just a short drive away. It was very convenient. Another highlight were the delicious and colossal ice creamies at Pam's - a must try! We would recommend this beautiful vacation spot to anyone looking for a special getaway away from noise and technology, but still surrounded by the comforts of a beautiful cabin with great amenities! And the location is breathtaking. We cannot wait to go back!

Quiet Get-away location

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay July 19-26,2014. The new porch was lovely and we enjoyed eating out on the deck for every meal. The cottage is nicely furnished and we had virtually everything we needed. The beach area is clear of most weeds and great for swimming and launching a kayak or the paddleboat. There was very little noise from other camps and those folks (and dogs) we met were friendly. The driveway into the camp needs to be travelled slowly because it's a single lane and has loose gravel and potholes. Although we were told the pond water was safe to drink, we found it better to use bottle water for drinking and cooking to avoid the metallic taste. We would definitely come back again!

I just wanted to clarify for future renters that the cabin has well water with a water softener/filtration system and does not use "pond" water. Perch Pond was a wonderful, peaceful rental property. The cabin was comfortable and roomy. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay welcoming. Lots of things to see and do. Wonderful local businesses, folks and restaurants. The owner made the whole vacation planning so easy. Would recommend this rental property to families, as well as those looking for a quiet retreat.

Great cabin, on a beautiful lake. The cabin was exactly what we expected, and was very clean upon arrival. Theres good fishing on the lake i caught about 19 crappies one day. in there are museums not far away, and hiking trails among other things. The owner was very helpful and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

Excellent Week Away!

Very nice cabin, very quiet, felt like we had the pond to ourselves almost the whole week. Fishing was good; caught largemouth bass and rock bass all week. Accomodations were a little tight for our group of 6, but primarily because there were two couples and two single people, so they couldn't share the third bedroom (no reflection on the property itself). Counter space in kitchen a little tight, but we made do, as you typically always do when you're on vacation. Loved being on the water, as it provided swimming, boating, fishing, and just a very scenic view to enjoy off the deck. Saw a bald eagle, osprey, and loons. Contemplating coming back again next year. Last half-mile to house is a little rough, with a steep incline near the end. Wouldn't recommend driving a sports car or any other low profile vehicle up to the cabin. In our crew, other than my truck, we had a Ford Focus and a Scion tC that came back to the house, and they made it okay, but it was a little "iffy".

Regarding the Review questions:

1. yes, the listing was accurate re: the location

2.yes, photos were accurate

3. yes, property was clean and fairly well-maintained, but renters before us (assumption) did not clean dishes well at all; they were all very greasy and needed to be re-washed before we used them.

4. yes, owner was helpful in answering all my questions (and I asked a lot)

5. yes, I'd recommend it to my friends.

6. most of the stuff we did away from the house, I don't know that you would call "local". we love going to Manchester Center, Vt Country Store in Weston, and Alpine Slides at Bromley. Didn't really do anything local, but we're the type that like to "unplug" when we vacation, and this house and location certainly fit the bill.

Perch Pond

The cabin was so cute! The view from the deck of the pond was fabulous at all times of the day! It was very nice to have the paddle boat and row boat to use on the pond. There was more then enough space in the bedrooms for our luggage. The owner's were very responsive to all of our questions. It was a very relaxing vacation on Perch Pond! I will certainly recommend this vacation spot to all my family and friends!
