Excellent Week Away!

Very nice cabin, very quiet, felt like we had the pond to ourselves almost the whole week. Fishing was good; caught largemouth bass and rock bass all week. Accomodations were a little tight for our group of 6, but primarily because there were two couples and two single people, so they couldn't share the third bedroom (no reflection on the property itself). Counter space in kitchen a little tight, but we made do, as you typically always do when you're on vacation. Loved being on the water, as it provided swimming, boating, fishing, and just a very scenic view to enjoy off the deck. Saw a bald eagle, osprey, and loons. Contemplating coming back again next year. Last half-mile to house is a little rough, with a steep incline near the end. Wouldn't recommend driving a sports car or any other low profile vehicle up to the cabin. In our crew, other than my truck, we had a Ford Focus and a Scion tC that came back to the house, and they made it okay, but it was a little "iffy".

Regarding the Review questions:
1. yes, the listing was accurate re: the location
2.yes, photos were accurate
3. yes, property was clean and fairly well-maintained, but renters before us (assumption) did not clean dishes well at all; they were all very greasy and needed to be re-washed before we used them.
4. yes, owner was helpful in answering all my questions (and I asked a lot)
5. yes, I'd recommend it to my friends.
6. most of the stuff we did away from the house, I don't know that you would call "local". we love going to Manchester Center, Vt Country Store in Weston, and Alpine Slides at Bromley. Didn't really do anything local, but we're the type that like to "unplug" when we vacation, and this house and location certainly fit the bill.

The cabin was so cute! The view from the deck of the pond was fabulous at all times of the day! It was very nice to have the paddle boat and row boat to use on the pond. There was more then enough space in the bedrooms for our luggage. The owner's were very responsive to all of our questions. It was a very relaxing vacation on Perch Pond! I will certainly recommend this vacation spot to all my family and friends!

The cabin was very clean & well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and gas grill was great. We appreciated that paper products and soap were provided. The view from both of the decks was beautiful and relaxing and the pond was private but not too isolated. We enjoyed lounging in the water with the provided floats and paddling the paddle boat. We would recommend breakfast at the Wheel Inn. This would be a great place to learn to kayak.

Constructive Comments: did notice 1st floor bathroom had leaky faucet & poor shower pressure. 2nd floor was fine. Upstairs queen bed could use new pillows and more hangers for all rooms. Things to be aware of: no cell or Internet service, no long distance so have a calling card, no caller ID or answering machine with cabin phone.

Mary, the owner, was very helpful and responded to our email questions before the trip promptly. We would recommend this property to friends or relatives, although the access to swimming would not be good for small children.

Ideal for a Relaxing Vermont Getaway

I won't hesitate for a second to recommend this property. My friends and I arrived ready to unplug, breathe the fresh air and enjoy everything rural Vermont to offer, and that's exactly what we got. The cabin is fantastic, with plenty of bed space, comfy common-room seating and all the basic amenities you need — coffee pot, kitchen utensils, outdoor gas grill, etc ... We slept like angels in our rooms, with the windows up listening to nature in all it's chirpy glory. The pond was our favorite part. It feels so clean, and there are plenty of places to jump into deep water, which is nice if you don't like stepping on murky pond sludge. It also felt very private, even though there are other homes situated around the water. We got lots of use out of the paddle and row boats, too. You've gotta row out one night when the sun sets. Beautiful! It takes about 20 minutes to reach the nearest town, so I'd recommend loading up with enough food to last you a few days when you drive in. There is absolutely no cell service, so I'd also recommend bringing some kind of calling card in case you need to reach the landlords. The phone only dials locally and their numbers are long-distance. If you're looking for day trips, Fort Ticonderoga is about 40 minutes away, and if you like wine, stop into Whaleback Vineyard. It's great.

We had a nice place to use as a home base to go hiking and canoeing in the area. Loved both the upper and lower decks to relaxe and enjoy the BBQ. Also enjoyed the the paddle boat to use on the pond. The beds were very comfortable to sleep on and plenty closet space. The owners were very helpful with all of our questions and concerns.
