About Fran Cronin

I was a laboratory technician for 19 years but decided in 2005 to give up work in Bandon (70 miles away) and try to work from home on our farm on the scenic Beara Peninsula. I always enjoyed meeting people so I wanted to do something in the tourism industry. I am married to Kevin ( a farmer) and we have 3 children ranging in age from 23 down to 11.

Why Fran Cronin chose Beara Peninsula (Cork)

We inherited Cappa House from a relative/neighbour in 2006 and it was in need of complete refurbishment. Work commenced in 2007 and after alot of blood, sweat and tears we finally accepted our first guests in early 2010. We have increased our visitor numbers every year since despite the economic downturn which has affected most businesses in this area.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our location has to best our best asset and the view of Coulagh Bay from the sunroom is quite unique! Our tasteful renovation of Cappa House has resulted in a warm comfortable house merging the modern conveniences of 3 en-suite bedrooms with the old world charm of an Irish farmhouse.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My girlfriend and I stayed in Cappa House for a lovely romantic weekend, waking up to that view in the morning was spectacular.

Our cosy nights by the fire in the chilly evenings were perfect. The house was amazing and we hope to be back here again soon.

Weekend stay at scenic Cappa House

  • 5 of 5
We spent a weekend with our family at Cappa House in September 2013. The house was located a short distance from Eyeries, Castletownbere and Allihies which made it very accessible to lots of walks and lovely coastal drives.
Cappa House was very well maintained and extremely clean with plenty of space for all the family. Fran and Kevin were extremely helpful both before and during our stay in relation to all our requirements and provided us with lots of local knowledge.
We enjoyed a few drinks in the nearby Urhan Inn and chatting to the locals.
We intend to return again and have recommended it to our friends as great place to holiday.
Catherine and Michael.

Perfect Place for a Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 5 spent 7 perfect days at Cappa House. The house is beautiful, very clean, with comfortable furniture and nice bedding. The kitchen has everything that you could need including good appliances. Fran, a wonderful host, has included small touches that you don't often find in a rental including a large DVD library, closet full of toys and board games. The location is perfect! The views are fantastic (much better than she could capture in the listing) and it's a lovely walk from the house through her farmland to the beach. The kids loved Fran's cows and were able to feed them every morning. The house is located on the Ring of Beara, which is breathtaking.

We highly recommend Cappa House and hope to return on our next trip to Ireland.

Perfect home base in Beara

  • 5 of 5
Fran was there to meet us as we drove in to the lot. The home was large enough to handle more, but it was great to have the room for our family of 4. The house was very comfortable and there was a great selection of DVDs for rainy days. Aside form driving around Beara, we took a walk by the bay and enjoyed the crashing waves. We would definitely return!

Our Stay At Cappa House June 2013

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at Cappa House has been amazing. Fran is such an excellent host. She has taken such good care of us. Whatever we needed, she took care of it. The house is amazing. It's all we could have wanted. The view of the North Atlantic is gorgeous and sunset is right in front of us. We traveled to Allihies and drove the Healy Pass. It is so beautiful here. Quiet. Peaceful. The people in Eyeries and Castletownbere are amazing, so friendly and helpful. This place was a gift from God to us. He blessed us with Fran and Cappa House for an unforgetable vacation.

Just wonderful

  • 5 of 5
It was our first trip to Ireland! We had a wonderful time in Cappa House. The property was clean and well-maintained. Fran cared much about our well-being. We much appreciated the calm neighborhood and the beautiful view to the Sea. We had so much fun with the Cronin cows.
I have already recommended the house to some of our friends. Would we come back one day? Maybe, maybe not! The only reason for not visiting again the Cappa House is that we would see other parts of Ireland which are more in the North or in the East.

Greatest Holiday so far!

  • 5 of 5
We are a family of four and have been all over the world on holidays but always wanted to visit Ireland and we have to say that it was the greatest holiday so far! Thanks to Fran and Kevin who run an extremly well kept, well equipped and clean house we had a lovely and very relaxing two weeks. It was a home away from home and we loved it. Our son and our daughter had their own room with en suite and we had the master bedroom with en suite and the sunroom with spectacular views over the Coulagh Bay. The house also has another sunroom with the same great views and a flatscreen tv with so many dvds and books to keep the kids occupied during a rainy day. The kitchen is big and very well equipped and there was also a fourth bathroom with a bathtub. There is also a washing machine and a dryer. If we had any questions Fran was always there to answer and come by to help us out. She also provided us with information about the Beara Peninsula and where to shop for groceries ect.
We spend the two weeks exploring Beara and its such a great and diverse place to be with mountains to beaches to neat little villages like Eyeries, where everyone seems to greet everyone even when you just drive by in a car. The people were friendly and helpful and don't forget to visit Don's souvenirs up on Healy Pass. He's a dear!
We will definitly come back to Ireland and Cappa House, it couldn't have been more perfect. And we would always recommend it to friends or family.
Thanks Fran and Kevin and see you again soon!
