The downstairs patio, upstairs patio and both bedrooms 1 & 2 all have sea views. The monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa are very entertaining and are a favourite attraction for most guests.

We are Steve & Fiona Goodsell and we have one son, Scott, who is 12 years old. We live in Wales but sometimes dream of moving to Barbados because of it's friendliness, slow pace of life and fabulous climate all year. We originally visited Barbados for our honeymoon in 1994 but could not resist returning time and time again. Steve runs his own Property Services Company and Fiona is a part-time administrator. Whilst in Barbados, Steve enjoys watching a local cricket match, fishing off Skeetes Bay, or in the evening he can be found drinking rum and playing dominoes with the locals. Fiona's favourite day out is a visit to The Crane Hotel for lunch or relaxing at Bottom Bay/Crane Beach. Scott likes to play in the pool, go to the beach or sail on a catamaran and swim with the turtles.

Fiona Goodsell purchased this villa in 2006

We discovered the villa half built in 2005 and although we did not intend to take on a building project at that time, it was an opportunity not to be missed, as it was in an idyllic peaceful location and the internal layout was great. So we knew that this would be ideal place for us but also a place that guests would enjoy because of it's privacy and chance to experience the real Barbados including monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa. A walk across country to Skeetes Bay has great views across Culpepper Island and up to East Point Lighthouse. The East Coast is on our doorstep and a short drive away is St John's church and the view from there over to Bathsheba is stunning. A visit to The Roundhouse in Bathsheba is not be missed and neither is the view from Cherry Tree Hill.

Privacy & Peacefulness making it suitable for couples but it is also a very social villa too as it is large enough for 2 families to share. There are 3 separate patios so it can be as social or as quiet as each guest would like. This location gives guests the chance to experience the real Barbados and most guests love seeing the monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa.

ANOTHER GREAT TWO WEEKS AT LAZY BONES

  • 5 of 5
Fiona, many thanks for allowing us to stay at your oasis again, 2nd time there and once again a delight. Apologies for the late response, just a very hectic time since coming home.
As others have said St. Philips is an untouched gem and a great place to relax and get to know the locals. Once you know your way around you find that from Lazy Bones you can be anywhere on the Island in short time. The villa is very comfortable with all the amenities that you would need. There is lots of room, towels and utensils to make a stay there very enjoyable.
You are close to some beautiful and nearly deserted beaches yet near to the more popular tourist spots.
Shelia and Eric are fountains of knowledge about the island and go out of their way to ensure your stay goes without an hitch. The booking process was again handled professionally and any questions were quickly answered.
Once again many thanks and hopefully we will return in 2015.

LOVE AT FIRST SITE

  • 5 of 5
This was are 3rd time at lazybone and have to say each time gets better. The villa is amazing with all 3bedrooms a great size. The monkeys are a extra touch of magic , seeing them wild and eachday outside the villa. I have been coming to Barbados twice a year for the past 5 years now and Lazybones really does make the holiday. As I find st Philips to be the untouched part of Barbados. You really get to meet the local people. Shelia the cleaner is a lovely lady and goes out of her way to help with anything. The pool is a nice size and the seating outside is amazing also. Best holiday yet roll on next year. Lazybones we love you.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you chose Lazybones again for a 3rd stay. We love staying at Lazybones ourselves so we are pleased when guests enjoy it as much as we do and want to return time and time again. Barbados has such a friendly relaxing atmosphere, we find once people visit they cannot wait until their next visit to the island. The quiet, private position of the villa is ideal and gives guests the chance to experience the real Barbados and the monkeys playing in the trees next to the villa are an added bonus. Despite being used to seeing them we still cannot resist watching them as they are a great source of entertainment. Thank you so much for your feedback and we look forward to you staying again next year. Best Wishes, Fiona, Steve & Scott Goodsell

LOVED THE PLACE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED

  • 5 of 5
We spent ten days at lazy bones and it is exactly as advertised. If you are looking for peace and quiet the location is ideal. The people in Barbados and around the home are the kindest I've ever met! It is only twenty five minutes to the airport. Fiona was great to deal with as are the two care takers of the property. We had nine including three little ones and there was enough room for everyone. The only thing I would say is if you're looking to be right on a beach for children you are half an hour away from the west side or calm waters. If you have a car you'll be fine. The pool was a hit with the kids andthe hamocks were the best for the adults. The pictures don't do it justice. Go to the crane beach and north point. The final thing I would mention is the property is extremely clean and well kept!

PERFECT RELAXING HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
We loved every minute of our stay at Lazybones. Its location was perfect, near the sea, near multiple lovely beaches, near shops yet isolated enough to feel really relaxed.
Monkeys swinging through the trees, sheep in the field next door and regular greetings from the locals visiting the local natural spring all contributed to a unique experience.
The villa was spacious, very clean and provided everything that you could wish for including an excellent DVD collection and library.
Fiona's information and support prior to travel was informative and reassuring and Sheila the housekeeper extremely friendly and supportive on arrival and departure - although we didn't want to come home!

LAZY BONES, COMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE IN BARBADOS.

  • 5 of 5
Many thanks Fiona for this unique way to sample living in Barbados, we were very comfortable for the two weeks that we were there.
The villa is well represented, the booking process was simple and thorough with all questions answered promptly. The instructions and directions to the villa were easy to follow even at night and your recommendations in regards eateries were spot on. The home is very child friendly, our 18 month old grandson was very safe and we had peace of mind. It was spotlessly clean and we felt we were in a safe neighborhood, we rented a car from the airport and had no difficulty getting around. The supermarket, gas station, fruit and veg stalls as well as great beaches are all within 15 minutes of the villa.
We had some wonderful experiences during our time there, the independence parades were truly unforgettable. The daily visits from the monkeys and their antics kept us amused and were a talking point for cocktails. The constant cool breeze while we lazed days away in the crystal clear pool.
The well stocked kitchen and the great BBQ allowed us to have some family meals that flowed into great evenings at home. The fresh fish from Oistins, only 25 minutes away, was some of the best any of us have tasted and to cook it right there was a pleasure.
I am at a loss for how I would improve the experience of your home and after being back a week still talk about how we really felt "at home' at Lazy Bones.
Many thanks for a memorable experience,
Janet and Phil, KW Ontario, Canada.

FANTASTIC HOLIDAY IN FANTASTIC VILLA

  • 5 of 5
I decided to book “Lazybones” as according to the online brochure it satisfied all of my parties needs. I brought my mother and father as well as a friend and her 7 year old daughter as I thought that everyone could do with a good holiday before Christmas comes upon us.

My initial contact with the owner Fiona was excellent, with email questions being answered very promptly, and this excellent communication carried on right throughout the booking process. It is very nice to have this sort of contact with the owner, since you are effectively going to visit their holiday home.

I have visited Barbados at least once a year for the past ten years, but for the rest of my party, this was their first time, and I don’t think that they were disappointed.

First of all Lazybones is located in a more rural part of the island so you will need a car. I would suggest a 4X4 as the roads are very bumpy. I did suggest this to my mother and father, but they insisted on renting a small Kia car, where as I hired a Vitara. The villa is situated on the East coast, with a constant breeze blowing, which is very very welcome. If you stay on the expensive west coast, it is very congested with people and cars, and this ruins the rural desert island dream.

On arriving at the villa, the garage has enough room to park two cars, which is good if there are a lot of people using the villa. Sheila the housekeeper is a wonderful lady who showed us around and also suggested a few places to go to.

Everything is open plan with a large spacious kitchen, dining area and living room. I travel very light with usually only a few clothes, so the sight of a fast American washing machine was very welcome. !0 minutes to wash your clothes, 10 minutes on the clothes line and your clothes are dry and clean again. The bedrooms are very spacious and very comfortable, with an en suite to the master bedroom. Don’t be fooled by the small shower heads. The shower is powerful and great. One tip Sheila gave us was to have hot showers instead of cold showers as we would cool down quicker. She was totally correct. There is also a very welcome large basket of beach towels so you don’t have to bring your own (I love travelling with a small light case).

The best feature of the villa has to be the upstairs terrace with the hammocks. I slept one night in there, and it was great.

Fiona, Steve and Scott, thank you very much for making our holiday, a wonderful holiday.

On the South East Coast in a peaceful idyllic location, walking distance to Skeetes Bay, Ragged Point/East Point Lighthouse. 5 minutes drive to the beautiful Bottom Bay, 10 minutes drive to Sam Lords and the famous Crane Beach. 5 minutes drive to the local shop and bar and 15 minutes drive to Six Roads where you can find a supermarket, bank with cash machine, pharmacy, post office, petrol station, fast food outlets plus children's play area. It is 20 minutes drive to St Lawrence Gap on the South Coast or the villa is an ideal base for also exploring the scenic East Coast and Bathsheba is 15 minutes drive away. If you prefer to chill out, you can simply relax by the pool and watch the monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa. In Barbados Cricket is a passion so if you like to watch a game and have a drink or two, there is a local club less than a mile away.
