My party of 3 women loved this house. It is a prime location and we were able to park the car and not use it until the time of departure. We were able to walk to all locations. There are many options for food all around. The house itself is full of atmosphere and you really feel you've stepped back in history staying here. Sitting on the porch (Piazza) is wonderful. A gentle breeze flows through and there are plenty of rocking chairs and tables. A few minor hitches were a broken toaster in the kitchen which the owners may not even be aware of and a terrible lamp in the upstairs bedroom. The lamp is on a pole which goes through the center table between 2 twin beds. A bolt had come loose on the bottom of the table holding the lamp so it leaned over and wobbled. It put out enough light for the room but not a good reading lamp. One MAJOR thing that visitors need to be aware of. Our group knew about two of the bedrooms being upstairs and they were no problem. We were not aware of the 2 1/2 flights of steps going from the rear parking lot to the 2nd level of the home where the rental is. It was quite difficult for 3 older (65 - 68 yrs. old) ladies (2 with rhumatoid arthritis) to carry or drag their heavy suitcases up and down those steps. We did manage but future guests with perhaps more serious health problems would have a very difficult time. This is the only reason why I didn't rate the property as Excellent.
I want to start off by saying that this house is truly in the perfect location. Nestled right between the 2 main streets, you can really get to any place you wish with a short walk! Larry the own is very friendly and great to work with. The house did have it's down sides however... We stayed on the top apt of the house and the stairs are so steep a couple of us almost fell. The wifi was very spotty and by the second day just didn't not work for me. The TV signal in the master bedroom was very glitchy, however it was raining a fair amount and that could be the reason why. Both bathrooms are on the main floor, so be aware of that. If you are going to rent this house, make sure you bring things you might need after you cook. Things like aluminum foil or Tupperware, to save food for later. There is a fantastic wine bar right across the street from the house which I recommend whole heartedly. All in all we had a great time in Charleston and will visit again!
Very old home in excellent condition situated just off King Street. Large parking area behind house for convenience. No need for car as everything is within walking distance. A great French pastry across street as well as The Muse restaurant. Enjoyed evenings on the veranda with great breezes. House is fully equipped and well decorated.
The owner's listing description is 100% accurate. With an evening cocktail, the old porch is perfect for watching Charleston go by. Nearby restaurants are incredible. Life is so smooth there, so restful, I could easily become an alcoholic and weigh 300 pounds. Still, you'll want to walk to see gardens and peak down alleys. The house is centrally located; the Battery, Charleston College--even the Ravenel Bridge--are easy walks. If the weather is crummy, the house is quiet and cozy with a good book. Or, there's a gym a block away. Lastly, the Landlord and his Wife are quality people; feel 100% comfortable dealing with them.
My friends and I have been visiting this wonderful city for the past 25 years. It's an annual trip for the Cooper River Bridge Run. This house is amazing! The location is superb! You are a very short walking distance to all the shopping and dining Charleston has to offer. The owner is always a phone call away to assist. My friends and I plan to make this house a yearly destination!
