Cozy 1930's three season rustic camp, nestled in private cove. Dock and floating raft, boat access, and small beach area. Lake is 1X3 mile spring fed. Amenities include 2 single kayaks, canoe, and unlimited swimming. 20 minutes from Portland.
We loved the cottage and its amenities. Everything we needed was provided - even lots of fish to catch in the lake! There were games, toys and DVDs available for kids and comfortable outside seating available for all. I particularly enjoyed having the dock upon which to read my book, while my husband and teen-aged daughter kayaked, canoed, and fished upon the lake. One must be careful when walking from the cottage to the lake, as there are lots of tree roots that can be tripped over. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future.
This was a perfect place for my wife and I, along with our 2 dogs. It's located directly between Portland and the Sebago Lake region, and has pretty easy drives to stores and restaurants, as well as hiking trails and nature areas. The cabin itself is a bit rustic and not overly large, so it's probably not ideal for those who are used to staying at the Waldorf-Astoria, but it was pretty clean and well maintained. The hot tub was also a really neat touch. The cabin was well stocked with pots/pans/silverware, and there is a nice grill that worked well. The only small thing I would point out is the shower stall isn't ideal for a taller/larger man, but at 6'3, I got by OK once I got used to it. The lake is gorgeous and clean, and the week we were there, the neighbors weren't around much so it was very peaceful and quiet. The sunrises were fantastic, and the loons were near the dock almost every morning. There was an occasional water skier or jet-ski going around, but I didn't find them to obnoxious or disturbing. I would definately recommend this place for couples or small families who don't mind nature and want an affordable location near the fantastic city of Portland.
This cottage was an excellent vacation spot for my partner and I. It is right by the lake and we had lots of privacy (in mid-June). Great for kayaking, sitting on the dock watching the loons, and the hot tub in the back. It was also close enough to Portland that we could have dinner in the city when we didn't want to cook. The building itself is rustic, but the kitchen and bath are well-equipped for vacation use. Unlike bland corporate rentals, this cottage definitely had a family-owned touch and the owner was nicely responsive when we had questions.
