We are accepting reservations for the 2015 season, opening May 15th.
Dancing Fox Cabin is in keeping with our circa 1842 farmstead home ambiance. Often early settlers would erect a simple cabin on the same property prior to building a more permanent home and Dancing Fox Cabin is a reflection and our vision of one of those early structures and yet features the comforts we enjoy.
With it’s rural locale setting, simple shed roof style outline, barn wood exterior cladding, interior walls sheathed in white-washed boards, wide-plank pine flooring, rustic hand-made kitchen cabinetry and barn beam framing….you will be enveloped by the subtle feelings of our pioneers, a sense of soothing well-being and one of a simpler more calmer lifestyle but with some modern amenities.
The Dancing Fox Cabin is your opportunity to experience what most lodging in Ohio doesn't offer. Imagine as you follow its pathway to your front porch, stepping across the threshold of your original swinging barn door entry and then begin feasting your eyes, spirit and senses upon … another time and another place.
Our settler-style cabin may become an unforgettable highlight of your visit to our area. Our initial goal was to utilize in the building process as many reclaimed, recycled, vintage and antique materials as possible in the construction of this self-built structure. To this end result, we were quite successful. We estimate that approximately 95% of its total materials have been salvaged and re-purposed from various sources in northern Ohio! The blending of all these various components into a harmonious finished product is one that is memorable, soothing, and yet to many, exciting. As different as the exterior’s first impression may be, the cabin’s interior is where your visual senses will be captivated. Wherever your eyes and hands rove you will discover subtly aged textures, hand created items and coordinated color palettes that enhance the feelings of subtle rustic relaxation. These time worn nuances now re-shed their light from simpler by-gone days and are captured by our cabin’s cozy environment. The lasting effect is one you won't forget. “Memories are made at Dancing Fox Cabin.”
Even though our cabin is not set in the deep woods nor is it secluded, our “off the beaten path” farmland environment removes you from both the heavy traffic and people congestion normally associated with other vacation rentals. Our centralized location is very convenient to the multitudes of attractions, events and activities found throughout the entire north central Ohio region. Lake Erie’s south shore, Cedar Point Amusement Park, fishing, boating, antique shops, dining, golfing, wineries and festivals are all within quick and easy driving distances. Major highways such as the Ohio Turnpike, U.S. State Rt. 20 and others are practically at your doorstep and conveniences for groceries and other necessities are only minutes away.

One of life’s most exciting pleasures is creating unique, fond and lasting memories for ourselves and our welcomed guests. As travelers ourselves, we seek the creative and unique lodging experience, one that will be remembered, talked about and shared with others for years to come. Knowing the history of our 1842 home and understanding how families lived while building their main family home such as ours, we decided to share and offer an experience to others. For over a year, we scoured, gathered and tore down a building here and there to locate salvaged materials, repurposed items, and used pieces and parts from various locations...then the challenging process of building began. After 1.5 years of hard work and lots of creativity thinking in the building process to make parts and pieces come together, Dancing Fox was born and we absolutely love it! To us, it's a treasure trove of local history and ourselves. We guarantee, you will remember Dancing Fox Cabin too.
One-of-kind cabin in Ohio and rated in the top 5 in the United States for being highly repurposed and being a usable accommodation with all the creature comforts.
Kim and I had a great time here. Love the cottage! We plan on telling our friends about it and also plan on coming back this summer. Thank you for the great place to stay.

This was my husband & I's second stay at Dancing Fox Cabin & will most certainly NOT be the last. While searching for accommodations near Sandusky & Cleveland for our 2013 vacation, I was lucky enough to stumble across this listing. We enjoyed our time spent here so much, we decided to return again in 2014. The owners, Paul & Janell, are super-nice people who go above & beyond to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one. The cabin is unique & so far removed from the generic, sterile, cookie-cutter types of accommodations...plus the beds are oh-so-comfortable! Located in the quaint & friendly town of Bellevue, OH, it is close to so many attractions...Cedar Point Amusement Park & the beautiful shores of Lake Erie are less than 30 minutes away, plus Cleveland is about 1.5 hours away (give or take). There are just so many things to do & see in the area...or...if relaxation is what you crave, the rural/small-town atmosphere definitely fits the bill. We have nothing but good things to say about this listing, the owners & our time spent here. It's a great place for couples, small families & friends' getaways!
I wasn't sure what to expect while driving past rolls of corn fields but I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. Paul met my girlfriend and I then showed us around the cozy little cabin and answered all our questions. He also gave us some great recommendations for food options. The first night we traveled a very short distance down to Bassett's Market which had an amazing beer selection! After visiting the market we headed over to Bierkeller Pub, which Paul recommended, and enjoyed some delicious food and German beer. There staff was super nice friendly! The second day we ventured out to a near by Flea Market, after leaving a stumbled upon a lovely vineyard called Vermilion Valley Vineyard. The owners were so nice, we spent a couple hours there sampling, talking and touring the place. Really good wine and we ended up purchasing 4 bottles. Our last day we stayed in, grilled, relaxed and built a fire out at the fire pit. It was a very relaxed stay, Paul and Janell were extremely nice hospitable. I hope to make it back sometime next year!
Stayed at the Dancing Fox Cabin while visiting Sorrowful Mother Shrine. We enjoyed the rustic features of the cabin and the back to nature setting complete with garden and fire pit. The owners were very accommodating and made us feel welcome and at home. Would come again and do recommend it.
This is one of the most awesome places ever. My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights. The descriptions and pictures do not do this place justice. We loved the cabin and surroundings. Paul and Janelle are wonderful people and are now friends for life.
My husband and I stayed in this wonderfully unique cabin for one night of our honeymoon and came back for our 1st anniversary this year. It was like coming home this year - it was already so familiar and Janelle and Paul were just as warm and friendly as ever while giving us plenty of space to come and go as we pleased.
We tried the French restaurant Zinc's Brasserie for the first time last year and it was absolutely delicious again this year. We would highly recommend a dinner there during your stay - the flavors are incredible! Also, last time we went, we went to Cedar Point (amusement park) for a day, and Lake Erie is very close as well. Also check out an authentic 4th generation meat market (Hasselbach Meats) that's hard to come by these days.
The cabin was very clean and put in order for both stays and Janelle and Paul are always very helpful when needed but are hands-off if you just want to do things on your own.
Seems as though there is enough room for a wheelchair user to move around (only a standing shower, though).
Our stay at Dancing Fox Cabin was absolutely perfect. We came to the area to visit Cedar Point at Sandusky. We were able to stay within 25 minutes of the park, yet still be able to rest in the quiet, cozy cabin at night when we wanted to just relax and not be around as many people. Paul and Janell were absolutely lovely to work with and provided everything we needed for our stay.
