Enjoy sunrise and sunset by winding through a wooded trail to the BIG rock fondly named Allagash! 4 bedroom plus a double and single in a loft, multilevel home includes a master bedroom (queen) & full bath on the first floor, 3 bedrooms (including a 4 bed bunk room!) on the 2nd floor and a loft that will sleep 3! Guest room 1: Double, Guest room 2: 2 twins, double futon & roll-a-away twin, Guest room 3: 3 single & 1 double in bunk bed format. There is also a sleeping loft with 1 twin & double! There is a full bath upstairs too. Fireplace, fully furnished kitchen with microwave and utensils, full washer and dryer, VCR, DVR, DirectTV in den and master, Hughes wireless internet, multilevel decks, grill and outdoor seating add to your summer vacation experience. Enjoy the ever changing sea with 10'+ tides. Swim in the ocean, relax at Sandy Beach or swim at the rock quarry - now swimming hole. Buy lobster from the local market or dig clams and mussels! About Barbara or Jon Robin

We traveled to Maine for the very first time in August, 2012. We drove most of the coast line from Ogunquit to Eastport and fell in love with the state. We came back in September and visited Swans Island and knew we wanted to have a home there. We bought the home in October and spent 10 days there over the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be back 3-4 times per year, but will let you enjoy the house and see why we fell in love with the island!

The location of this home with Back Cove on one side and a quiet lagoon on the other side made this the perfect choice for us. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, want to stop, listen and not hear anything, then this is the place for you. Read a book on the deck or borrow one of the books on the book case. Play board games in the evening, hike wooded trails, dig clams, watch the Lobstermen bring in their catch or sleep the day away on the deck...it's all here. Yet, you are a 30 minute ferry ride from Bass Harbor and Mt. Desert Island. It's not home away from home, it's 'relax away from home'!

What makes this house unique

The views from the house and deck make you wake up every morning and think you are in paradise! The low tides are just as pretty as the high tides! Seeing the sea gulls swoop down, pick up a clam or mussel, then fly high over the big boulders that line the shoreline and drop them to crack them open and then eat them is mesmerizing! We like to follow one bird and see where they pick their clam and then guess which boulder they will fly to, drop and eat! We chose this property over others due to the serene location and ocean views.

Make sure you check out Fine Sand Beach, the Quarry swimming hole and the Carrying Place take out! Goose Pond is about a mile walk…some may want to crest the ridge behind it for the view of the Atlantic and walk down to the ocean beach.

Make the short drive to Hockamock Head Lighthouse. The views are amazing and you will want to see it at low tide and high tide to experience the crashing waves.

Want to dig clams or muscles? Wait for low tide and look for the small holes in the sand! Grab a shovel and start digging!!

Alcohol cannot be purchased on the island, but can be brought onto the island. There is a small grocery/convenience store on the island for basics. You will want to do your shopping prior to getting on the ferry. Both Ellsworth and Bar Harbor have large grocery stores.

Rates are for Saturday, 4 PM to the Saturday at 10 AM. This gives time for the maid service to clean the house, launder bedding & towels & prepare for the next guest. Please don't ask for early checkin or late arrival as it takes the maid service a minimum of 4 hours to clean, do laundry & make all beds. Thanks! Guests paying by US credit card will pay a 2.5% service fee, international 3.5%.

  • There are 4 actual bedrooms and then a ladder leads to an upper loft with a double and twin mattress. Sheets and blankets are provided for all beds, with most of them being brand new or in the last year. Bathroom towels and washclothes will be provided and extra towels will be provided for beach/outdoor use. The master and upstairs shower have been replaced in the last 2 years and there are extra 'cubbies' for clothes storage if needed. Bath soap, sinks cups and a hair dryer are provided, but guests need to bring their own shampoo, lotion and personal items. If you have any questions about what is/is not provided, please ask!
