THE RED CABIN ON CARIBOU LAKE, A PEACEFUL DULUTH DESTINATION FOR ALL SEASONS

Duluth Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Immaculate cabin on a spectacular and quiet * 'woodsy' lake setting.

Is your summer vacation on your mind? What about you contracted workers looking for the dream home away from home for extended time? Look no further, a peaceful retreat is yours as you enjoy clean and complete accommodations in the Red Cabin on Caribou Lake. Contact me today to work out the details of your stay! The morning sun will peek in the east windows to awaken your adventurous spirit. In the summer, perhaps start the day with a morning walk or kayak amidst the calling Loons of the Caribou Bay. If you are visiting in the winter, this northern wonderland is smack dab right out your front door. Snowmobile trails hook to Caribou Lake including the Reservoir Riders Trail which connects to the Hermantown Trail which ties to more northern runs! But if you prefer the silent sports, join the ice fisherman (and a great fishing season it is here!), snowshoers and cross country ski enthusiasts on the lake. Load your sleds or bikes and explore the Munger Trail or the North Shore areas. You can choose between the Duluth nightlife in Canal Park (keep an eye out for the big ships slipping under the lift bridge) or a quiet evening around the fire as every sunset is a vibrant and new display to behold.

You will not be disappointed with all the amenities including a full kitchen, large screen tv, wi-fi and a sunroom off the deck. While there is one bedroom, the other living areas hold comfortable new futons to comfortably sleep a total of 4. Kayaks and a canoe available for your enjoyment as well as yard games...just watch out for the deer, rabbits, chipmunks, ducks, otters, birds and other wildlife as you boche, croquet or just watch the snowflakes fall and the stars twinkle...slip your way to utter relaxation!

About Jill Brown

I am a Registered Nurse with a passion for Quality Management. I embrace the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence after seeing first hand the value brought to an organization after assessing the critical aspects of work against the criteria. I have enjoyed learning how to continually try to exceed the expectations of all guests of honor as my quality journey continues and I keep my mission alive; making the Red Cabin your Duluth Destination Delight!

Why Jill Brown chose Duluth

The first moment I set sight on the Red Cabin, I knew it was one of the most perfect places in the world. I immediately took to the special details so well thought out inside the cabin while promptly falling in love with the surrounding woods, rocks, the lake and peninsula.

It is amazing how each season is unique and to be celebrated. While swinging near the shore with a refreshment in the summer, it is mezmerizing to imagine ice and snow across the expanse of the bay settling in, in but a few short months; and the reverse as you sit in the same swing bundled up in your winter gear imagining summer, the lake being a body of open water; always moving, never the same. When the ice comes and goes it is a treasure of sights and mysterious sounds that can't be properly described in word. Some early winters, the lake freezes hard before the snow and allows for ice skating; everywhere! A rare experience only few will ever know.

The Red Cabin location is superb. To be so close to the edge of town (and what an exciting, unique and cool town Duluth/Hermantown is!) while yet being out in the woods; it is hard to find anything like it left in this world.

The Red Cabin is just an experience in itself. I am honored to share it with people that are good stewards of God's world and will uphold and respect my Red Cabin and her grounds. It is expecially delightful for me to hear the shrieks of joy from young children out in the yard, feeding a fish or making a snowman.

I look forward to visiting with you as you plan your vacation; I believe you will find unparalleled excellence at The Red Cabin.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5
My sister and I gifted a stay at the Red Cabin to our parents for their anniversary. I worked with Jill on all the details for their stay. She's super responsive to emails, which makes planning a breeze, and was willing to go the extra mile to make their stay special. In addition to her 'standard' rolls at breakfast (which were a huge hit!) she offered to make them a cake to help them celebrate. We couldn't refuse such a generous offer and they were touched by the details.
They enjoyed their getaway and had a wonderful visit. We can't think Jill enough for helping us to make it happen!

Owner's Response: Bridget,
What great fun it was to help you and your sister plan the special get-away...working with you and your parents was truly a piece of cake. Your reservation was the Red Cabin's very first "special event"; how cool is that?! We are still smiling over our DQ-licious treats; and are amazed at the kindness of our guests and contacts from all expanses of the great US of A! Cheers to you and yours! Jill

Great Cabin on Beautiful Caribou Lake

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent the month of August in the Red Cabin on Caribou Lake and enjoyed every day there. We watched deer run through the backyard the first night, saw the eagles soar almost daily, had a great time kayaking and fishing the lake. In addition, Duluth is just a short drive away with a great ride up the Northshore Drive (US 61) all the way to Canada. Jill couldn't have been nicer with anything we needed or delicious baked goods everytime we turned around. Couldn't recommend this cabin any higher.

Owner's Response: You were wonderful summer guests; I am so glad you spent the month so you could really take in the beauty of northern Minnesota. Thank Jane for sharing the Skeeter Soup recipe she found in the Polaris Cookbook; it too gave me the giggles!
The Red Boot Vase has found its way on the table and makes a delightful centerpiece to welcome new guests of honor; it was so appreciated. I will always remember you both when I hear the dog clock ticking, see the lovely "Red Cabin View" drawing in the sunroom and open the umbrella! Do come back again!

Red Cabin Review

  • 5 of 5
The Red Cabin on Caribou Lake is a charming get away spot for couple or small family of four. We wanted comfy and clean ,The Red Cabin delivered. The yard has a dock and great view of the lake and a cozy bench glider to watch the sunset.
We enjoyed seeing the eagles fly by and the ducks and geese using the lake as we delighted in peaceful family breakfast in the splendor of early autumn.

The cabin is extremely clean and uncluttered, inviting to relax, rejuvenate or waterplay away from the fast pace of city life or take an easy day trip to the North shore of Lake Superior. A bomb-fire pit for campfire and S’mores added to our gathering. Who doesn't love stories around the campfire? A big part of the charm is the hostess and owner Jill who greeted us at our arrival time with her personal warmth and homemade cookies. Delightful! All the details are well thought out for the pleasure of the home stay guests. All star rating from Out of State travelers.

As they say up north would you come back? "You Betcha!"

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Liz for your thoughtful review and kind words. You are in the running for being guests of honor from the "most afar". It was fascinating to me that immediately after your departure another young family checked in; and I believe you graciously left a little piece of your creative and artistic spiritual energy behind; as the little boy followed suit and left me a lovely color crayon picture which found its home on the fridge; and chalk artwork on the deck! Thank you so much for your northwoods watercolor. In a word, WOW. It too will be perfect original artwork for The Red Cabin! We are proud our little part of heaven on earth perhaps provided just a touch of inspiration to a great artist as your family retreated in Duluth. Creativity certainly does follow the curve!
Namaste! (thank you for that!)

Just book it already!

  • 5 of 5
All of these reviews are 100% accurate. Just book it and you won't be disappointed. I'll focus on the kid part. We brought a toddler and an infant. The dock was perfect for fish feeding and catching that first fish! Jill even had a bag of fish food waiting for us. :-) The floor was perfect for rolling around on and learning how to crawl. Nice and clean. Jill also had kid's movies, games, and books waiting for us. If your little ones like the wildlife, this cabin does not disappoint either. We saw bald eagles, wood ducks, loons, and deer. Not to mention all the nice fish daddy caught out of the kayak! A couple of things for parents. This place is very nice, wipe your kid's hands off constantly! There is no bath, but our almost three year old managed to fit in the kitchen sink. Also, we brought our own baby gate and very glad that we did. However, after reading this, I'm sure Jill will provide one because that is how she is. :-)

We were so happy that we stayed here. We didn't want to leave at all. I think if one leaves while it's dark, it will be less painful! Have fun. Duluth is beautiful and this cabin was such a bonus!

Owner's Response: I so appreciate your review; let me tell you, I very much enjoyed having your family! The picture your boy left found a perfect gallery display on the refrigerator; and the deck chalk art received rave reviews! I am delighted you enjoyed your time being "one with the water"; there is just nothing like a kayak around the bay with a fishing pole.I will certainly have to explore the baby gate concept; I am a safety champion so taking "Safety First" to a new level is a challenge I am up for! Glad you saw a sampling of Minnesota wildlife; the woods always holds a surprise. Thanks again for your amazing stewardship of The Red Cabin; you left her ultra sparkly... I look forward to a future visit so I can compare Thomas the Train notes with the boys! Take care!Cheers, Jill

Quiet cabin on lake yet close to Duluth

  • 5 of 5
The Red Cabin is a great place to stay if you want the best of both worlds. It is close enough to Duluth to enjoy the sights then come back to the quiet and relaxation of the lake. My husband and I had an amazing long weekend here to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and extremely clean. Jill is very easy to work with. She replied quickly to all my emails and was very accommodating. She allowed us to check in early and gives amazing directions to the cabin. Jill greeted us upon arrival with freshly baked cookies and with instructions to not hesitate in calling if we needed anything.
While in the area make sure you check out Canal Park. There is something there for everyone! If you have time take the scenic drive on the North Shore and Highway 61. The area is full of state parks, waterfalls, historical sites and quaint little towns. A good day trip to Grand Marais is beautiful. If you cross into Wisconsin take a day and go to Pattison State park to see Big Manitou Falls. Thank you Jill for sharing your cabin with us!

We look forward to meeting up again for a future visit!

Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5
Our time at the Red Cabin was peaceful and relaxing. We had a beautiful view of the lake and enjoyed lovely sunsets. The cabin is only about 20 minutes from Duluth, so we had the excitement of the city life and the quiet of nature within minutes of each other! We received fresh, out of the oven caramel rolls on the first morning of our stay..........yum! The cabin was clean and comfortable. We had an AWESOME time! We will definitely be back!
