An Oasis of tranquility

The location of this holiday home is stunning. Set on the same coast as Benidorm/Alicante, one would expect to be surrounded by noise and views of them. However this small bay hides between them, a secret location, keeping quite and private, letting the rest of the busy world rush past with fingers crossed no one notices it is there.
We stayed in “Beach Cottage”, which we found immaculate. It is pretty, comfortable, and well equipped. The interior provides functionality and uniqueness, with creative fabric features (home designed, bed linen, cushions etc) and wonderful original art work by the owner. The small details are not missed with fresh flowers in and outside the cottage, even in our bedroom. We have stayed in holiday homes before where we have had to clean before we used anything and even buy tea towels; not so with Beach Cottage, even our beach towels were provided.
We befriended our neighbours, so had the opportunity to view the “Sea View Cottage”, also clean, pretty and well equipped with bigger inside and outside living areas. Both cottages have sea views, “Sea View Cottage” benefiting with views of the shoreline and an external covered terrace. From “Beach Cottage” you can’t quite see the waves breaking, it doesn’t have a solid covered terrace roof either, not a problem when its sunny, but slightly restrictive should it rain. We would happily stay in either.
The pebbled beach is at the bottom of the gardens, accessed via a private locked gate. The shared gardens work really well, with enough space to be isolated or sociable. Our neighbours were delightful and we shared drinks and dinner with them on their terrace and on ours.
A car is necessary, there is nowhere to walk to for lunch/dinner/drinks. We had some fabulous lunches out, restaurants recommend by Betsy (who couldn’t be more helpful and friendly). Our nights were filled with cooking, drinking and sitting on our terrace watching the sun set and listening to the sea.
We are truly grateful that our sister in law found and shared this holiday home with us. Once we left we had no hesitation that we would return, with a view to book both cottages for a larger family gathering in the future.
Betsy and Lise, are very much hands-on and available, unlike some ‘long distance’ owners that we have experienced. They have created such a wonderful magical place, extending a warm and friendly atmosphere … one, almost selfishly, would like to keep it a secret.
