Guestbook comments from the owner
I was born in the area and grew up spending my summer months, 3 months back then, at Grayton Beach, with my 5 brothers and sisters. We had no AC, all slept in one big dorm room, the water tasted like the gulf, and our kitchen stove shocked us when we turned it on! It was very primitive but we have the most wonderful memories of days spent lying on the sugar white sand and putting iodine in our baby oil to get that tan and getting ready in the afternoons to go to the Grayton Beach store at night, now called the Red Bar. When I became an adult a dream of mine was to one day have a house on the beach and I am living proof that dreams come true! I worked the last leg of my career in Atlanta, GA and decided to move here in 2008. The last 5 years have been some of my best. I decided to offer the house to people like you in hopes you will have the experience and joy of the beautiful beaches.
This house and it's location on the west end of 30-A is the best! Anyone who stays in Santa Rosa Beach will tell you the hectic pace and cluster of Seaside and the east end of 30-A gets old really fast. Dreams Come True, in the private gated community of Old Florida Beach, lets your children play in the streets, has a nice community pool, and a dock on Draper Lake where you can launch a kayak or canoe. I bought this property after looking at over 20 houses. It's funny that this was the first one I looked at! Isn't that how it often goes...I absolutely love the wide expansive gulf front porches on both floors. Being able to sit and watch and listen to the gulf roll in and out is where everybody wants to be. The view is incredible and immediately something changes inside of you when you listen to the sounds coming from the shore and smell the clean salt air and hear the laughter of children playing on the beach. This house has 12 foot ceilings downstairs and gives the feel of lots of space. And the upstairs open floor plan has beautiful cypress wood beams which gives the feel of a mountain estate. And I especially enjoy the kitchen! 'No matter where I serve my guests, they seem to like my kitchen best!' The limestone island counter top is 12 feet long and the builder had to build a lift just to get the two limestone pieces up to the kitchen. The sink is marble and both the limestone and marble came from Jerusalem. All of the floors are cypress hardwood and stone or granite in the bathrooms. I have created memories I will never forget here and I hope the same for you!
The expansive views of the beach from the upstairs, the open floor plan of the entire upstairs that allows everyone to be together, the gourmet kitchen and the wrap around porches, the craftsmanship of the woodwork, and the beautiful cypress floors; these are just a few of the reasons I love this house. The bedrooms offer the privacy needed when many people are staying together. I really love the front door! It is made of mahogany and the kids nicknamed it the dungeon door because it is so big and has a large door knocker that they often use! And the front porch is very unique in that it is a semi-circle design unlike any other around. I wanted to buy a home that had a beachy feeling and this home has that and so much more. I have taken great pains and time to keep it in the condition it is in. It is a constant upkeep that I am grateful to have. The salt air can eat through anything. I have painted all the downstair rooms with colors that I love and remind me of the sea. I supplied the house with quality 100% cotton bed linens and plush bath towels. The cool feel of cotton on your skin after a day at the beach is a wonderful feeling! I put 4' durable foam toppers with covers on the beds as I want you to have the same expectations I would have for myself. Leaving a vacation with a hurt back and not being able to sleep because of a hard, old mattress is counter productive. This house lends itself to entertaining large gatherings comfortably and I enjoy making people feel at home.
