Why Aurélie chose Jerusalem area

It was love at first sight! As soon as we saw the spectacular ancient domes, we knew this was an apartment like no other.

What makes this apartment unique

Eco living:

When you stay at our vacation suite, there's no need to worry about your carbon footprint. The green construction began five hundred years ago — the one-to-two-meter-thick walls maintain temperature better than any modern technology! We did our best to follow that example when we renovated the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen.

Here is a list of the suite's Eco credentials:

•Low-energy air conditioning throughout the apartment. (DC Inverter technology.)

•LED lighting.

•Underfloor heating. Rather than blast heat from a small vent near the ceiling, underfloor heating systems allow the heat to rise from the bottom up, without ever reaching a high temperature.

•Double-glazed insulated windows.

•Natural-gas water heating.

•Energy-efficient appliances.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed in Rova Arches in early July during a 2 week trip to Israel. The property and particularly, the location, cannot be beat!

LOCATION: Within 2 minutes you can walk to the Kotel, the Arab Shuk, the Tower of David, etc. There is a cafe just next to the property, on the Hurva Synagogue square, where you can people watch for hours. We found it very easy to walk to the Jaffa Gate (maybe 3 minutes) when we had plans outside of the old city. Mamilla Mall is also a 3 minute walk if you feel the need. There are numerous places to shop, eat (both a quick shawarma or falafel, or a sit down dinner) within a 5 minute walk.

PROPERTY: We were 2 couples, a 69 year old, and a 13 year old boy. There was plenty of room as there is an open floor plan with plenty of space to stretch out. The apartment is spacious, beautifully appointed, clean, and has anything you might need to make the stay enjoyable.

SERVICE: Aurelie, the manager, could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Bagels, juice and fresh fruit awaited us, which was really a very nice touch after hours of traveling. There were fresh flowers on the table. There was a box of teas and espresso available throughout the stay.

We travelled to several locations on this visit, and I have been to Israel many times. I will say, without reservation, that this is the nicest, most welcoming apartment we have ever stayed in. I would (and will) recommend this to all of my friends, and will certainly stay there again.

Best place to be at

  • 5 of 5
I am so glad to have chance upon this VBRO property. We could not have asked for a better place to stay in. Smack right in the heart of the old Jewish quarter, this spacious and immaculately clean apartment was the best thing we did. We could walk to just about anywhere we wanted and it is just so special to be right withing the wall. Auriel was very helpful with all my queries and provided more information than I know to ask for, eg where to park our car and where and how to get to where we needed to. I will definitely come back again

Great apartment - no easy chairs to read

  • 3 of 5
The manger was an absolute doll. The apartment is gorgeous but unfortunately, she failed to mention the long walk and the 3 flights up to the apartment. Having told her that I was traveling with my parents in their 80's, she didn't take into consideration the struggle for them to come up the stairs. The fabulous living room is up several steps of black stairs without a hand rail so my parents were pretty much banished from the living room unless my husband or i were there to help them down. If you're young and healthy and never want to sit in an easy chair to read while you relax, its the perfect place. If you want a real apartment where people can sit together and have a drink after a long day, there are 3 lovely leather stools in the totally equipped kitchen. Otherwise, you have to lay in bed to read. It was a painful effort for my parents, and having a rental house of my own, I am always careful to mention the steps up the porch. The apartment is perfectly located, its impossible to make the TV work (I can't really complain about that because I can't operate my own high tech home theatre system.) Aurelie made sure we had everything we needed for breakfast, placed fresh flowers around the perfectly clean apartment. The towels are small and the shower leaks which wouldn't matter if my parents weren't so old and I worried they would slip so I dried the floor each day. That said, the apartment is beautifully appointed but not really a place to live for 3 days. The sofas are like rocks and we never really used the living room. So I highly recommend it for young people who have tons of energy but not for small children or older people.

Owner's Response: Dear Ruth,

Thank you very much for your review. I’m terribly sorry I failed to mention the stairs in the building and in the apartment. Although our listing mentions that the property is on the second floor, I generally do mention the stairs whenever guests tell me they’ll be coming with elderly people. I should have highlighted that point in our email exchanges, and I’ll make sure it won’t happen again for future guests.

Thanks for pointing out the shower leak. We’ll get it fixed ASAP, and we’ll also be sure to take your other comments into account.

Thanks again for taking the time to write your review.

All the best and have a safe trip back!

Excellent place to stay in Jerusalem

  • 5 of 5
It was the best apartment to stay for our first trip to Jerusalem. It is absolutely well located, well furnished and very calm. We were three adults and three teenager and we had really a very pleasant time in Jerusalem especially thanks to our host who was so helpful and patient with us because we had so many requests and questions. He had always an answer or an idea to help us further. Thanks a lot.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5
I have had my share of different accommodations all around Israel and in Jerusalem. Being from New York City it is very hard to find accommodations I am used to. But Rova Arches exceeded my expectations! The apartment itself is a beautiful mixture of old world charm with all the modern conveniences you can want. I stayed with four other adults and we were able to spend time in the living room sipping wine while our friend played the piano, or sat out on the back porch enjoying the locals in the square. It was a special treat to be in the old city during Purim, and to be able to watch the festivities from the apartment. This location was ideal for me as I like to spend my time praying at the wall and staying in the Jewish qtr makes this extremely convenient. Idan was very helpful and generous and made our stay even more comfortable, between arranging our transportation in and out of the old city with our luggage and even making dinner reservations. I almost want to keep this place a secret as you can see in my title it is my home away from home and I want to keep it that way. LOL This is one listing that lives up to its pictures and description you will not be disappointed staying here, the only problem you will have is never wanting to leave. Thank you Idan for all of your help and hospitality I will definitely be staying in Rova Arches again!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
Rova Arches Suite was truly perfect for our group of 4 adults! The location, right in the heart of the Jewish Quarter and overlooking Hurva Synagogue, is truly special: Not only is it convenient (5-10 minutes to the Western Wall and the Dung Gate & about 15 minutes to the Mamilla Mall), but it also feels very atmospheric and genuine with children playing in the square and with the local residents going about with their activities. The apartment itself is gorgeous, just as photographed, and it is so well-equipped, with everything and anything that guests could possibly want provided for, with top-of-the-line appliances, and with a Nespresso with abundant pods! The owner clearly has carefully thought through the needs of their guests and then went beyond for their guests' comfort, with well-stocked kitchen, bath, and laundry supplies as well as a complimentary SIM card! We especially enjoyed gathering in the spacious living & dining rooms in the morning and evening where we would plan our days, chat, share our thoughts, and just visit. Everything is spotlessly clean; WIFI worked impeccably; and Idan couldn't have been more welcoming and kind, despite our 2 AM arrival! As previous reviewers have mentioned, the fresh-cut flowers, milk, juice, and bagels really are such a nice way to make guests feel welcomed, especially for that first morning in a new city! And last but not least, Idan must be the nicest person one could possibly meet: From initial inquiry and throughout, Idan answered all of our questions promptly and completely with spot-on restaurant recommendations; during our stay and even during our drive to the Airport as we were leaving, Idan would check in just to make sure that we were doing okay! Tips: Idan can help arrange for transfers to and from the airport, since it is tricky to find the apartment otherwise. The taxi service Idan recommends, as expected, is very professional, punctual, and a bargain too! We had stayed at the Mamilla Hotel during our earlier visit to Jerusalem. For its outstanding location, lovely set-up, thoughtful service, and great value, we would choose Rova Arches Suite in a hearbeat!
