Scott & Jan K. are in love with the town of Brevard and everything the area has to offer. They hope to retire there in a few years. Oaklawn Place has been renovated to be the perfect Brevard vacation home, looking to possibly be their retirement home soon! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Oaklawn home. The house was very clean and came equipped with all the comforts of home. It has a very convenient location to downtown Brevard and was an easy walk for our group of various ages. The downtown area has several great restaurants and shops. We definitely had a great time and would recommend this home to anyone wanting to visit Brevard.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Great Getaway in Downtown Brevard

This was a great house! This was our 3rd time visiting Brevard & we’ve always stayed at houses offered by Red House Inn. Oaklawn may be the best one yet! We were there in December 2012, and while the weather was a little gray, the house is warm, inviting, full of light. The back yard seems big and private, but it was too cold to really enjoy. I think there was a grill out back. Maybe next time. Brand new kitchen with a gas stove, has everything you need. Big dining room. The bedrooms were beautiful and we really liked the memory foam mattress. There were flat screen TVs in 2 of the bedrooms, plus free Wifi. The shower tower in the bathroom had a rain shower head & body jets! Right downtown, so everything was walkable. If you are there on a Friday morning, go over to Blue Ridge Bakery on Broad Street and listen to the Blue Ridge Bakery Boys while having pastry and coffee. On the other hand, Bracken Mountain Bakery has the best sunflower oat bread ever! We enjoyed Hobnob restaurant which was about one block away from the house, waterfall hiking, and even went into Asheville for a play. Great place to stay!

My Hubby still talks about the stars........

My husband and I actually got married in Brevard on a special weekend away in 2011 (see our review for the Bungalow) and loved the area. So, when my husband got the chance to travel with a friend back to Brevard, he jumped at the chance. He was able to stay at Oaklawn Place just after the total renovation was done. My husband said “What a place!”- That he won’t mind living there himself. Everything was re-done with the best of taste, a full updated kitchen, two new bathrooms, comfortable living room, large dining room. 3 great bedrooms- and a bonus office. But he said the best part of the house was sitting out on the back porch and enjoying the night stars, as well as the fact that it was in the heart of downtown Brevard. Just walk to everything. And Tracie and Daniel at the Red House were the perfect hosts. I was so jealous that I didn’t get to go along!

Great house in good location, quiet, walk to town and restaurants, well decorated, new appliances and furniture, comfortable beds. Multiple TVs and wi-fi. Large fenced back yard. We loved it.
